I've also got to say, I love the fact they're using the "ice arm" for this statue. I always thought it was a great addition to his appearance. It really helped show case his use of the O5 powers.

I wish they could have used his white belt instead of silver, but the look is amazing!

I was looking forward to seeing Mimic in action.

My introduction to the X-Men was by way of Marvel UK's early 1980's pocket book series.This was a pocketbook-sized black-and-white reprint title published monthly which featured two issues of Uncanny X-men per month.It started with issues #1and#2 and reprinted a fair chunk of the O5's run before being cancelled.

Due to reasons unknown two of the three Mimic covers featured Re-colouring of Calvin's Orange costume.I am unsure why this was done but there are a couple of possible reasons.

1.The colour may have been difficult or expensive to produce due to primitive printing processes(Although the orange background is basically the colour of the costume!).This may have necessitated recolouring the costume for economic reasons.Or there may have been a limit to the number of colours available.
2.To be honest,the costume was very garish in colour for early eighties Britain.This may have been an issue as colours this bright were not commonly used.Also,Mimic's Super-Adaptoid cover may have been changed as there would not have been an obvious X-Men costume on the cover

I realised the truth a while later when I stumbled across a copy of Uncanny X-Men # 138 in a shop somewhere down the country.This was my first U.S. X-Men comic and was a great one to pick up because it was basically a flashback issue recalling the history of the X-Men to that date.

Although the Mimic's Time with the X-Men was not recalled in detail,there was an image of Calvin in his orange costume as it was meant to be.I was a bit surprised and ,to be honest,I've always been a bit puzzled for the reasons behind it.The covers on Marvel UK books were certainly of a lower quality to the U.S. Books and it is most likely that colour reproduction was the main reason.It is a bit of a quirky thing though,something quite fitting for the character as he is very much on the fringe of the X-men historically.

I got into comics during the Onslaught saga, my first introduction to the Mimic was in X-Force v1 #45 and 46.

I didn't know what to make of this character and filled him away as a generic villain.

He kept popping up in X-Force for the next couple of issues and then off into comic book limbo.

By the time Excalibur v1 #124 came around the Mimic is fighting Zero Tolerance Sentinels and is freed by Excalibur.

That one page got me interested in the character.

The original orange costume was different from any costume at the time, due to orange being not the greatest colour to fight crime in.

The pre-Schism cast of Legacy was made up exclusively of former X-Villains turned good(Rogue,Frenzy,Magneto.etc)so it wouldn't have been unreasonable to think he could have joined that line-up.

This cover image is just a close up of one part of the whole image.

The bottom left of the image has a curve and what looks like a curve of an ear, so making that "image" part of a person. The only bald person in X-Men right now is Xavier.

A. I like Mimic, but I have to say that he's a footnote. He wasn't even a mutant when he joined up originally (although I guess somebody retroactively made him one in the years that followed.) So yes, he did join the X-Men and was the legitimate sixth member of the team. But he was only there for about two issues, and then gone again.Cool goggles

Their abilities are also similar to Rogue's, and given that she's our lead character I thought it would be interesting to compare their similarities and differences. At its core, this is a story about two very good friends who have seen some rough times, and how far they'll go to help each other.

They're tremendously powerful, but personal circumstances and aspects of their personalities have made them easily manipulated by others and prone to bad mistakes. Their abilities are also similar to Rogue's, and given that she's our lead character I thought it would be interesting to compare their similarities and differences. At its core, this is a story about two very good friends who have seen some rough times, and how far they'll go to help each other.

I think Xavier would have to apologize for bringing so much destruction down on the Mimic.

His powers going out of control thanks to Onslaught(Xavier), captured and freeing from Zero Tolerance, and protecting him from Cerebro.

Mimic has been trying to make the best out of his situation and Xavier needs to make a mends.

Well, I came across Mimic in a UK X-Men magazine waaaaay back in '96.

There was this big X-Men timeline in the middle of it and my eyes were caught straight away by this guy who looked like he had Cyclops's head, Angel's wings, and Beast's hands/feet.

The first thought that went through my head was; "Awesome".

Up until that point of my X-Men fandom I liked the team, but never really taken by any individual character.

That all changed once I saw Mimic.
Then I found out he was expelled by from the X-Men and I was even more intrigued.

I think you would have to do that on your personal email...... if you post pictures to early its against the rules or something...... I just in trouble for that awhile back......

Mimic gained a much larger following from his (well, his alternate universe self) appearance in "Exiles," so when he joined Norman Osborn's "Dark X-Men," it stood to reason he'd stick around a bit -- except he disappeared into the woodwork. With sides being drawn for the post-"Schism" X-titles, Christos Gage signs the ultimate free agent with Mimic and gets Weapon Omega to boot. Gage grabs both characters and makes a nice bid for them to stick around, molding their personalities enough to slot them right in with the Jean Grey faculty, who get a little broader (but thinner) coverage this month with Rogue and Cannonball leading off the story.

I liked him before Exiles Mimic made him look cooler!

Good review and another vote for Mimic and Omega to stick around the faculty.
