I didn't see a thread for this (hope you don't mind Brian) and I was wondering who else read this issue. I skimmed it at the store because I was curious how the Proteus plot would end (I haven't read any of CC's Exiles but I was curious).
All in all this was a dreadful issue. The plot was mostly awful although I did like that the Shaper of Worlds was involved (albeit for all of ten seconds). The dialogue was bad too (although not as bad as the plot but just by a bit). The art was good but there seemed to be a few glitches in it as well (Mistiq apparently was supposed to be in some sort of waterbreathing form and the Exiles were apparently transformed but I couldn't tell). I loved how Morph couldn't fly (cause the plot called for it) but did later on in the story. I also couldn't figure out how the Shaper could so horribly hurt Morph by crushing him I mean he is goo. Oh and how could I forget the line about how Morph doesn't bleed anymore. There were a lot of basic stuff that a competent editor should have picked up on but either the project was too rushed or the editor was drunk at the wheel.
As for the finale, as in the resolution of the Morph/Proteus plot, it was not even worth the time to read it. So Morph's soul/personality/mind was never destroyed by Proteus since he's not human and so Morph decides to forgive Proteus and they both merge into essentially Morph but with perhaps some of Proteus's personality. What a waste. This took place in under a page and that was it. It made no sense. Proteus never seemed the type to be all "the power of your love has turned me from my path of evil" and Morph never seemed to the type to be all "You killed tons of people and my friends but all you really needed was a hug and we can be super best friends forever". This of course also ignores the fact that both entities decide to essentially die and become some new personality. However to explore that more than a few panels would have to been used and we would have lost the precious Valerie Richards who was both parent's powers and was tried by Electra and is super smart and awesome (and whom Betsy can recognize on site despite being in an alternate reality).
So, all in all this was a horribly written issue (and also poorly edited) and I would not recommend it to anyone.
