Which name do you prefer?

1) Professor Charles Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters?

Or

2) Xavier Institute for Higher Learning?

I prefer The Frost Academy of Excellence.

But of your two choice, I would pick Xavier Institute for Higher Learning. The term “Youngsters” is off-putting.

The Xavier's Institute for Higher Learning seems like lazy seconds to Professor Charles Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters.

Still, I'm undecided on this.

EDIT:The Frost Academy of Excellence sounds like a good alternative to the two.

I prefer Charles Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters...as it implies (to those of us in the know) that these "gifts" are more than academical in nature...but, to the general public, it was just a school for the nerdy, stuck-up elite. X.I.H.L. seems more "open to the (mutant) public" in general, which became more apropos in the latter years, given the changing social climate and the vast number of mutant teens who needed guidance and acceptance. I still preferred it was kept to just the few X-Elite...the X-men and New Mutants, then Generation X...but that's just me.

The Xavier Institute For Higher Learning is a better name.

The Frost Institute of Excellence is even better!

I like Charles Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters.

Youngsters is a cool word.

But I like The Frost Academy of Excellence better than both.

I like Xavier's Institute for Higher Learning because it has an acronym that can be pronounced.

How about "The Westchester Pile Of Abandoned Rubble"?

They're both good names that work well when serving the right purpose.

It was originally the School for Gifted Youngsters when it started with the O5 as teenagers and continued to carry the name for a while, even when the school didn't have any "youngsters". Then, when they launched Generation X, they came up with the idea of turning the Massachusetts Academy into the "School for Gifted Youngsters" and turning the Westchester mansion into the "Xavier Institute for Higher Learning". This meaning that the school in Snow Valley would be disguised as the snooty prep school while the one in Westchester would come across as a highly exclusive private college or university. This would be in keeping with the ages of the student body.

That is essentially the key.

If the school is full of teenagers, or at least has a good number of them, it should be the School. If it's just grown-up X-Men, it should be the Institute. For example, after Generation X closed up shop and Morrison filled the Institute with students, I think the mansion should have reclaimed the "Gifted Youngsters" name. The problem is that with the way the status quo shifts these days, the place will have to change its name every couple of years.

I am surprised too, I would have thought the 80s types would have voted for the first answer

I say "Po-tay-toe, you say "Po-Tah-Toe".

Ah hell, the second one. The first sounds like it could just as easily by Charles Xavier's School for the Mentally Challenged.

Which would explain why they let Icarus in, but I digress...

Knowing Marvel and their tendency to lean towards the side of its most marketable mutant, they'd probably end up naming it "Professor Wolverine's School of Badassery" or something like that.

I went with the Xavier Institute.

Really I find the Gifted Youngsters too hard to be credible considering the fact that the place is crawling with 20 somethings and hardly any youngsters. It's hardly a school it's more like a hang out for cool athletes!

By the way, what's the name of the new diggs in San Francisco?

Xavier Institute just sounds better...Youngsters is just sounds dumb. And terribly outdated.

I believe Warren branded it "Greymalkin Industries" after the street the mansion used to be on.

I suppose, all of them are better than the base in Australia. That one didn't even have a name. It was just "the town" or "the old Reavers' base".

I believe the base in Australia was called "Ye Olde Tobacco Shoppe".
