I know there where alot of folks who weren't all that excited with the LA and Texas shows, but I was always greatful for them being out there... I've always felt that the #1 offering of a convention is a nice fun construct for fans to get together and geek out immersed in their hobby... WIth out a doubt Wizard LA never came close to delivering the punch that the San Diego convention delivered only 2 hours south, but I attened it every year, and ever year I saw fans who were excited to be at a covention... How many "new fans" are going to drive hours to "try out" a comic show..?
Some suspected that these shows would be cancelled, but I think that this news shouldn't be taken lightly. Like it or not, Wizard LA and Texas were probably 2 of the largest 10 conventions in the country... For fans in Texas there is not "San Deigo" to go to instead.
You can bet that I'll still be coming to Wizard Chicago and Wizard Philly.. and IF the LA show is indeed only postponed and not cancelled, I'll be there too... I'm not looking at this so much as news about Wizard, but rather news about the comics community...
Fans who were planning to got Wizard LA... I hope to see you at Wondercon in SF instead... Providing you can stomach the 8 hour drive.. If you don't want to drive that far, I'll understand...
