Rictor - the bi de(mastur)bate and the burden of proof.

So, this is about Rictor's bisexuality. Now the main point is, we often see people saying that his sexuality is uncomfirmed and so he's not bi BUT why do we need confirmation that he's bi?


Why is the burden of proof instead on whether he's straight? I mean, very little that any character but the gay ones (who actually identify themselves) precludes them from being bi. However, there is very little actual proof that they're straight ... there is almost nothing a character can do to confirm they're straight apart from coming out and saying the words 'I'm straight'. So why does the argument for Rictor always revolve around 'proving' his bisexuality? Shouldn't we assume bisexuality as the default in these cases until proven otherwise?

Iceman and Rictor. Will the truth ever be revealed. I mean technically Rictor has never denied anything about him and Shatterstar, but at the same time he has never confirmed anything. Where is that scan of Jamie and ric in a bar and Jamie says something about Shatterstar.

Whereas Bobby is somewhat homophobic and can't admit even to hisself. They should write a book. Or at least Northstar should start holding seminars.

I think it was back during X-Force. When Shatterstar was killed by Mojo, Longshot was rounding up X-Force to help, and Ric was much too focused on Shatterstar to even give a rat's arse about Longshot. In fact, he actually threatened him and insulted him numerous times.

Given that 99% (okay.... maybe 95%) of the MU is heterosexual the odds pretty much in favor of him being straight.

Now, I suppose that doesn't necessarily indicate that he have to assume that he is heterosexual. And I'm not going to justify (though I'm still going to) assume he is straight because of that. But I even if we were to say that we don't need to assume he is heterosexual, that doesn't justify assuming that he is bisexual either.

I mean, really. Are you advocating that people rampantly speculate who is gay, who is straight, and who is bisexual and NOT force them to show proof of their claims?

I mean, if I just choose a random forum goer and said "YOU ARE A BISEXUAL." And didn't even show any proof on the part of my claim, and said that it was their duty to prove me wrong... well wouldn't that be a ignorant move on my part? I mean, shouldn't we base our decisions on the proof of their actions and not make any assumptions about people?

Also, it'd be nice oto have an LGBT character that isn't a)evil b)dead or c)psychotic for the MU. Also one that's appearing in a comic on a regular basis. Currently we get Karma (sort of), Anole (ish), Karolina and Xavin (if that book would come out regularly it'd be rad), and Wiccan and Hulkling (the kings of cameo).
