I just got a call from my bank. Somebody in Australia used my debit card information to charge $440 at a liquor store.

Nah. Couldn't have been Cam. No chance of it. It was only $440!!! Do you seriously think Cam could get out of a liquor store for less than 4 or 5 figures?
C'mon......

$440 is only about £200 isn't it? I know guys who can spend that on a night out. Pfft.

the exchange rate has me confused these days, especially with the AU$ worth different to the US$. It was almost the same at one point I think.

Well I always thought the Irish drink too much, sure, but we talk a lot too. Whereas here I've been out with folk who just pour the schooners down their throats and go for another. It's a bit too.....hectic for me, the drinking culture here.
I miss the chat :frown:

The chat's the whole point. I mean, what's the point in alcohol at all if you aren't swaggering, talking big, telling stories, narrowly avoiding fights (or at least forgetting them), making big claims, pining over lost or misplaced love or toasting old friends.
Honestly, the drinking culture in the US is a bit too booze-centric for me and Australia sounds a bit further down the rabbit hole from your description.

True and I don't want to give the impression that Ireland is a nation of storytellers or any of that bollix.
I have been in clubs in Dublin were people were getting stupid drunk, but I associate that with teens and college students.
I just miss the quiet pubs with a couple of pints and then home.

Let's face it Tobias, pubs arn't pubs in Oz. They're just not the same. I think i've found two in about the last 15 years that are a little bit similar (in atmosphere, lay out etc) but basically....they're pretty dire.

Funny thought.
"Roger that" generally means: "I agree."
But "roger" is also pretty synonymous with "to screw".
So shouldn't "roger that" be usable in the affirmative or the negative?
Cam63
