Well, this is one of the biggies. This is the poll for the favourite story told in any X-Title during 2008. There were a heck of a lot of contenders nominated, as I'm sure you can imagine. But after the nomination were counted the top five, which go into the poll, are as follows:

Angels and Demons (X-Force): The opening arc of Kyle and Yost's new X-Force series. Some gritty visuals, the return of an old enemy, and some quality continuity faithful story telling. A superb first arc.

Get Mystique (Wolverine): Jason Aaron follows on from Mystique's actions in Messiah Complex, and reveals her past with Logan, in this hunt to take her down in permanence. Which he doesn't of course, but it's a bloody good ride.

The Guns of Avalon (Captain Britain & MI13): The Skrulls invade Britain in an attempt to capture Earth's magical resources in Paul Cornell's first arc of the title. A legend dies and is reborn, a lot of Skrulls die and Pete Wisdom accidentally releases a shed load of demons in trying to save his Country.

Sins of the Father (X-Men Legacy): As Xavier tries to piece together his past the late Mr Sinister has activated his final plan for survival. And for the likes of Xavier, Sebastian Shaw, and the Juggernaut that's really bad news.

Old Ghosts (X-Force): While Warpath encounters the Ghost Bear, Cyclops sends the rest of X-Force off after another old enemy, who appears to have stolen himself a little bit of Legacy Virus. Kyle and Yost manage to make the Vanisher a somewhat credible villain.

You may vote for one of the five choices above, and feel free to discuss your choice, below. Voting is open until the end of the month.

Over to you.

This is a tough one, I love both the X-Force ones and Get Mystique. I went with "Angels and Demons", but this was pretty much a three way tie for me.

Old Ghosts (X-Force).

Loved this arc. Some GREAT Character moments . Not sure if the art counts towards how e vote, but I gotta say I LOVED that too.

"Angel's & Demons" was a very close second. Great story also.

Hmmm....difficult for me. I'm kinda torn, because Angels and Demons brought back Archangel, and I have never loved him more like that since he was in X-Factor as Archangel.

But Get Mystique was so awesome, and makes me actually excited for the Wolverine: Weapon X series.

Decisions, decisions...

Of the choices my favorite is "The Guns of Avalon", but these are X-title awards so I went with "Sins of the Fathers".

While I love X-Force, I had to put Get Mystique... largely because as much as I love X-Force the stories so far feel like a large part of an expanding storyline, not that I dislike that, but none of the stories have had the proper closure to it to really feel like a complete story.

Get Mystique was just about perfect. As much as I love CB&MI13 and X-Force, I have to give it Wolverine.

Not enough Claudine in Sins of the Father.

Mystique's vomit gets honorable mention but I'm gonna have to go with Old Ghosts.

I went with Angels and Demons....so much amazing shit happened in the first arc that it was hard not for me to vote for it.

Dude, people totally ignore Captain Britain and MI:13. Whatevs. 'Guns of Avalon' was freaking amazing and the absolute best of the 'Secret Invasion' tie-in stories (a close second being 'God Squad' over in The Incredible Hercules).

Now this... is a hard choice... All five tales are right on top of the other.

Old Ghosts (X-Force): The art by Choi makes this story even better. The team gets split up a bit, with Rahne recovering at home, while Warpath confronts the Demon Bear with Ghost Rider, and the rest of the team goes after Vanisher for trying to steal a strain of the Legacy Virus. With all the action, the characterization in this arc is still spot-on. While this arc was all sorts of fun, it still wasn't as good as it's jaw-dropping opener. Although, I do slightly prefer Choi to Crain, that's just personal tastes, really.

Get Mystique (Wolverine): This story had plenty of brilliant ideas, including the concept of Wolverine smuggling himself in somewhere by being a "suicide bomber". The visual by Ron Garney of a charred Logan clawing out of a body bag in a morgue, pissed off is still one of my favorite single panels from 2008. It was a good contained story, that gives you a bit of a "chicken or the egg" surprise, as to Logan and Raven's history. Good storytelling, and good action.

The Guns of Avalon (Captain Britain & MI13): Great tale, of Captain Britain making a stand against the Skrulls, and trying to defend the realm of magic, being killed, and reborn by Merlin, afte Pete Wisdom set him free... albeit at the cost of unleashing demons from the prison he was held in, with him. Some moving imagery with the Union Jacks flying to Brian and giving him his new uniform, too, and as I keep saying, the magic Super-Skrull in London as rendered by Kirk would make me crap my pants if I saw it in real life.

Sins of the Father (X-Men Legacy): I really liked this tale, for doing an amazing job of not just cleaning up old convoluted X-continuity, but actually writing a good tale in the process. We got to see Professor X confront a lot of his ugly past, while finding out a lot of the stain on his soul might come from the manipulations of Mr. Sinister. And we got a Sebastian Shaw/Xavier/Gambit team-up against an ancient crone who works for Sinister and wants his mojo, too! I dug this arc, on a lot of levels. Especially with the reveal of Miss Sinister at the end.

Angels and Demons (X-Force): Crain's art? Perfect for the gritty mood of this series. As the first issue goes, and the team tears up the Purifiers, well...

This arc wins for me, because at the end of each chapter, I went, "Oh... my... god... YEAH!" Seriously, every reveal on the last splash page of the first five parts was spine-tingling and you already were looking forward to the next. End of chapter one? The return of Bastion! The end of Chapter two? The bad guys find the body of Magus, and get access to the T/O virus. End of Chapter three? The return of a t/o fueled Donald Pierce, Leper Queen, Cameron Hodge, Stephen Lang, Bolivar Trask, Graydon Creed, etc. End of Part Four? The return of Archangel! End of part five, the setup for a 3 way battle between the Purifiers and Bastion, Risman and the Choir, and X-Force.

On top of that, the characterization with Rahne and her dad, X-23 and her self-worth, Warpath and his sense of vengenace, as well as Risman's own conflict, and the mystery of Eli Bard... this arc was hands down not just the best X-arc of the year, but possibly the best at Marvel overall, hands down.

Bingo!

Angels and Demons, by far.

I'll defer my reasons to worstblogever for he is correct.

Withou a doubt...Angels and Demons...for all the reasons WBE has so eloquently stated...and the fact that I am madly in love with Crain's art.

Many people wouldn't consider it to be an X-Title, no. But it is being published by the X-Office. Unlike New warriors, which although it contains a number of former X-Characters is actually published through the main Marvel Universe editors.

Or New Exiles, which is outside the X-Office iirc.

Are we certain of this? When might this have changed?
