They actually *started* with the Yellow Lanterns. That's what the whole Sinestro Corps things was about.

What gives me the biggest kick is that, apparently, the red end of the spectrum is the "evil" end, as the red, orange and yellow rings work on anger, greed and fear, while the blue end is the "good" end, working on hope, love, and lust, and green/courage is in the middle.
