What's going on with the Founders? Cap dead. Tony wanted. Jan dead(?). Hank who knows whats going on with him. Thor shows up every once in a blue moon. Hulk, well Hulk is Hulk.

I know they've got the big movie in the works and it's probably just something they're going to build up to but is it really necessary to take out the Founders like this? I know Hank is going to be on the new team but when was the last time we had the Founders(I'm going to excuse the Hulk from this one) on the team together? It's been awhile since we had at least three( I don't know if we can count Skrull imposters). Any chance of them being together again or is it over for that particular group?

they are taking them out of play so we can slowly come to remember what made them great; in time for the movie (which will take liberties w/ several of them).

I can understand wanting to build up for the movies and drive interest in the books but movie-goers don't always translate into comic buyers. But I must say they are doing an excellent job on taking them out. Who would have ever imagined that this would happen to the founding members of the Avengers? Oh wait, Bendis(just a little dig at 'im  ).

If you're going to put Steve Rogers in that too, then you can say the same about Quicksilver (whats up with this guy anyway?), Scarlet Witch, and Black Widow.

Clint Barton is basically THE only stable one... if you can call that stable... and he has died a time or two.

So... yeah.

Well, the interesting thing is that in a lot of cases being taken out also translates to them becoming bigger more high profile characters. So if the band ever did come back together, it would end up being a much bigger deal.

I guess to a degree we got a small taste of that towards the end of Secret Invasion. But it didn't last, and it wasn't really Steve anyways.

Cap wasn't a founding member of the Avengers.

Cap wasn't a founding member of the Avengers.

Yeah, but they sort of retroactively gave him Founder Avengers status at one point. I think it was in Busieks run, but I don't recall exactly.

And then they revoked Hulk's status as a founder, didn't they? Bit of a jerk move, honestly.

Well, in the upcoming Mighty Avengers, we essentially have as close to a founder team as we're likely to get these days.

We have Hank, Tony, and Hulk. Jan's represented by Jocasta and Stature. Hercules fills Thor's place. Cap gets replaced by U.S. Agent.

Plus the addition of two players from the quartet.

Fairly classic lineup.

Not really. Some of these may wear the colors but they aren't exactly the founding members. And Tony isn't going to be on the team and I'm not too sure about the Hulk either.

Just like sports teams, heroes retire, move on, sometimes they come back...sometimes they don't...or can't...or go on to new challenges in life.

I don't think a fictional ongoing comic franchise and a sports team are analogous really.

You talking about Bret Favre?

Chaosakita is right tho', that isn't a very good comparison.
