So, I was reading Wonder Woman and I discovered I had this comic called Girlfrenzy Donna Troy and really liked the character portrayals of her in each. This led me to go to wiki to find out more about her and now I am absolutely and entirely confused. So I went and got 'The Return of Donna Troy' and it's no better.
Just what powers does Donna Troy have?? It seems like, from the miniseries and the one shot that she should have force blasts and shields but I don't see her using these in Wonder Woman ... in Wonder Woman she just seems to have Diana's powers sans the nature powers. Wikipedia also says her energy powers include darkness and cold ... but I don't see any of that from the mini and the one shot either. Also, as Wonder Girl she apparently had a Lasso ... where did that go? Isn't she supposed to have equipment like Diana?
And her origin ... is she Rhea's daughter or is she a golem made by Magala? Or some mixture of the two? She seems to have a human mother, is Hippolyta's daughter, Magala's creation and Rhea's daughter all at the same time. =/

Donna Troy is one of the most messed-up victims of DC's ever-changing continuity. Track down these comics:
New Teen Titans #38

Teen Titans #50

...and you still won't have a good answer.
Instead, I just ignore all of her appearances outside of the classic Teen Titans runs, from the late '60s and early '80s. Those are good comics, even if they are somewhat out of continuity now.

I always loved her character, but she is probably the most messed-up superheroine of the DC universe - maybe of ANY universe. I can't explain who she is today. And I probably got most of her comic book appearances in my collection... but I just don't know.
Donna isn't a confusing character; It's her ORIGIN that's messed up, due to some writers not bothering to do even minimal research before using her. True, she did get a new identity as Toia with new powers and costume, but that happens to most superheroes sooner or later, and in Donna's case helped her be more than just a Wonder Woman clone. Now they have reinvented her as sort of Harbinger Part II, making her origin a mess again. I blame the editors- they're the ones who are supposed to keep an eye on these things.

Right now, she basically has Wonder Woman's powers. One of the main differences is that unlike Diana who channels her truth powers from her lasso, Donna has some sort of natural "truth" aura around her that makes people just want to tell the truth around her. (It's also said to be why she kind of had the Den mother role in Titans--everyone naturally wants to confide in her)
Donna still *may* have her Titans of Myth powers (the force field and stuff) which are doormant, but as of right now she doesn't have them. She gave them up in Team Titans to live a normal life with Terry Long when her marriage was in trouble.

She was a golem, was kidnapped by Dark Angel, made her way to Earth where she was caught in a fire, but rescued by Rhea (establishing her Titans of Myth connection) and then put in a new foster home.

If you want the long explanation, read the Titans Tower entry on Donna Troy:

Personally, I'd favor Donna keeping a few of her Titan powers. The shadow generation would make her stand apart from Diana & Cassie. Based on appearances in Wonder Woman Vol. 3, it seems that Donna still has her old Lasso, just never used it much. She showed up with a lasso as part of her classic ensemble in Heinberg's WW Annual.

The girlfrenzy Donna issue was in '98 though, and she had the forcefield and light blasts there, I thought the Terry Long stuff was before that?

I see. She was like Wonder Woman until she was tortured by and eventually died at the hand of Dark Angel. This soul was eventually reborn as a young mortal girl who was adopted out to numerous families, she also was given powers by Rhea. That's about where she's at, right?

From what I remember of the Girl Frenzy stuff, the part where Donna is in the church took place after (I think after Terry and Robert's death), but the actual adventure she had in the issue was a flashback to the when she had her Troia powers.
Does this mean she just has the super senses/strength/speed/durability + animal speech + immunity to mind control like Diana does?
No to the animal/nature stuff that Diana has. Like Diana, Donna can "see the truth", but it's always written consistently in regards to the immunity to mind control stuff. (It appears both Donna and Diana were taken over in Final Crisis...)

Yes, exactly! Wow, you just described Donna's origin in like two sentences instead of a 4-issue mini-series....

I forgot to add, DC released a Donna Troy TPB, entitled "Who is Donna Troy?", that has all of the popular Titans storylines featuring Donna. Most of them were pretty good and still hold up to today's standards...
