You make me miss my puppy. We had to give her up when our son was born last month. Here's one of her last pictures.

My gray cat. He's not licking in this picture. His tongue falls out of his mouth occasionally when he sleeps because he's missing his big, bottom right tooth.

Did you have to get rid of him because he kept sitting on all of your comics?

Heh, I've always LOVED that reaction to those pics. Some people absolutely FREAK when they see that.
But, no, Butcher preferred to lay or sit on a magazine or newspaper rather than the carpet (we referred to it as him "crinkling" from the sound it would make). If the floor were clear and he was laying down and I threw a comic on the floor, he would literally immediately get up and go lay on it. What a weirdo. We never did figure out what that quirk was all about. And I don't care about my comics' condition as long as I can still read them, so it was just hunky dory with me. :)
Oh, and actually he got a sarcoma on his leg and it was time for him to move on. But let's not dwell on that. The major grief is over, even though I still think about him daily. No condolences necessary, although I appreciate the thought.

This is a series of shots of my long-haired guinea pig, Gizmo. Other people have described him as a squeaking, living human wig. They're about right. They forgot to add the words eating and pooping to that description. Still, I love the little guy.

Here's my best-friend, Sage ... she's 10 years old and now has cancer. I'll have to put her to sleep soon - perhaps the hardest thing I'll ever have to do. :(

Regarding the cats being compelled to sit on a piece of paper. There used to be a column in the newspaper of random trivia. I don't remember the guy's name. Lloyd something, I think. And one time he mentioned that it's a really common phenomenon. The theory being that they have to be as high up as possible and any little bit counts. Of course, sitting on a piece of paper on the carpet is not as high as being on the couch, but the point is that it really is a compulsion. I cut that out and mailed it to my parents. So it's a clipping the size of a post-it. They set it on the floor after reading it and, sure enough, our cat immediately came over and sat on it.

Not my pet. This is actually the cat that hangs out at the jail. She's spoiled rotten by the trustees and the officers. Also this is the first picture I've downloaded from my new camera!

Here's my dog.
I was going to start a big thread on him a while back. See, the wifey and I just bought a condo last year. There were a few big reasons why she wanted to get a condo so badly and #1 was so she could have a dog. I'm on the road so much, she gets lonely, so that was understandable.
Well we rescued the poor guy from a kennel (well, she did actually ... she chose him and brought him home while I was on the road). He came home with the kennel cough which is like whooping cough for dogs. He'd cough all night long and keep me up. I'd never had a dog before so I was in no way attached to him. After a week of restless sleep I was about ready to return him but luckily his cough got better.
And if that wasn't enough he had cherry eye. It's a condition where one of the dog's tear ducts gets red and swollen and bulges out. Well we sprung the $200 for the surgery and his eye was much better. That is until the OTHER EYE got infected the very next week. Good grief! As if the little guy hadn't been through enough. We haven't gotten the surgery on the other yet for a few reasons; it doesn't look as bad, it's another $200, after the surgery he had to wear one of those ridiculous cones around his head, and there's a chance that the dog can get another condition later in life called dry eye if they get this surgery. We don't know if we want to risk it in both eyes.
So anyway. Here he is. I love him to death now and am very glad the wifey talked me into getting him. This picture was from a Christmas party we had, he's wearing his holiday scarf.
Here's Murphy:

No.
Turn on the fan and blow some of the smoke out of your face. That might help.

And while we're on the topic, why doesn't a new window open with attachments anymore?
