Best Writer- Ed Brubaker, for Captain America, which was so good this year that even with his lackluster Uncanny X-men efforts, he still comes in on top for me.

Best Artist- Marko Djurdjevic, for his work on Thor, as well as his excellent (as always) covers throughout the year.

Most Improved Writer- Fred Van Lente, for going from having no books that I read, to having three (Wolverine: First Class, X Men Noir, and Marvel Zombies 3).

Best New Series- I guess Young X-men is the better of the two that I read.

Best Miniseries- Secret Invasion: Thor. ClanDestine is a close second.

Runners-up include Matt Murdock waking up next to Dakota North in Daredevil 111 for best moment, Moon Knight for best series, Moon Knight vs Jack Russell for best fight, and pretty much any issue of Omega for best single issue.

Best Writer - Ed Brubaker
Got to give it to Bru for the second year in a row. 2008 was the year Bucky became Captain America. Unquestionably the best run on any title in 2008. Daredevil and Criminal have also been great.

Honorable Mention - Matt Fraction

Best Artist - Leinil Francis Yu
Yu's art shined on the highest profile book in all of comics. His style was perfectly matched for Secret Invasion. He's also rarely late, his only delay was the oversized final issue of SI, and only by a week. In today's world of delays, that counts for something.

Honorable Mention - Marcos Martin

Most Improved Writer - J. Michael Straczynski
JMS gave us a masterful Thor and The Twelve has been fascinating. After the convoluted snooze-fest that was his Spider-Man in 2007, his return to exemplary work was a welcome relief.

Gotta go with Yu again for this one. His New Avengers was hard to follow at times, but he really stepped up with Secret Invasion.

Always at the top of my pile every week it came out. Strong characterization, plot, and humor in a sci-fi action adventure romp. And it has a raccoon with guns.

Best Writer- DnA, Abnett and Lanning have been great on Nova and Guardians, actually getting me into Marvel cosmic stuff, something I never thought possible.

Best Artist- Stefano Caselli, his work in Avengers: The Initiative was gorgeous.

Most Improved Writer- Daniel Way. Wolverine Origins is generally horrible on its own merits. Simply abysmal. Deadpool is great. He even pulled his weight in the tie in with X-Men legacy, which was nice considering I was dreading having to buy Origins in order to complete the story.

Best New Series- X-Force, hands down.

Best Miniseries- I can think of a couple of good one-shots, but no mini's at the moment.

Jefte Palo; a truly amazing find by Marvel. Punisher: Little Black Book, Moon Knight Annual 2008, Black Panther 39-41; plus his got a run on Moon Knight coming up in '09. I'd love to see what this guy did before he came to Marvel.
