The recent thread regarding what villains should come back made me remember about this great, underused character. We've seen so little of this ageless immortal it's a deep shame. So I decided to start an appreciation thread to show the world how much we believe this is a great character that deserves to make a comeback!!

Candra has ties to Storm, Gambit and Rogue, she posesses a wide variety of mental powers, some of which have yet to be revealed, and knack for playing with the love lives of other people. It has not been revealed why Candra seems to have an obsession with Apocalypse, since she has been seeing searching for clues regarding the blue-lipped wonder.

She has not been seen since X-Men #61, where the great Goddess-turned-X-man destroyed the cristal which held the essence of her heart. However it was clearly expressed that in order to kill an immortal the essence of the heart had to be absorbed through a blade, not dispersed as it was, so there's the loophole to bring her back.

Let us show our appreciation of this great character on this thread of threads :D

She is the "Betty" to Selene's "Veronica", fighting through time to find out who will earn the love of some ginger shmuck who can't make a decision. Along the way, both manipulate and kill people. It's all good fun.

No, they had a Black Queen and a White Queen. Let her stay in her swamp collecting gems from Gambi's relatives.

But with a twist. Candra hides her life force in gems, right? Well, why shouldn't she do the obvious, and get inside a girl made of gems, who likes other girls inside of her?

If I remember correctly, wasn't Candra one of Apocalypse's Horsemen in AOA (I mean before Mikhail and Genesis)? Not that it has relevance to post-AOA, but I thought she was with Sabretooth for the invasion of Wundagore.

Never liked Candra, she always seemed like a sloppy stand in for Selene imo, but retroactively tied to Storm and Gambit. To be honest, I didn't like any of the 90s Xternals... I'm glad just Selene, Poccy and Sam are left.

Candra had great potential, she haunted Rogue, Gambit and Ororo, some of the best X-Men. I always wanted to see her go up against Jean, tk vs tk like in the AOA

According to what she explained she had put the essence of her heart in the gem, because the "only way to kill an x-ternal" is to drain the essence of their hearts with a metal blade. Since the gem was destroyed and the energies were NOT absorbed by a blade it is very likely she is merely dispersed as some sort of energy and waiting to return.

Selene could have perceived her energies and coalesced her back into existence... or something like that. And she would be a GREAT villain for Legacy, considering it's all about Rogue/Remy nowadays

Although, hope for my earlier Bling! theory, and that it gets written by Mike Carey on Legacy.

When Shinobi Shaw took control of the Hellfire Club, and Selene went MIA from it for awhile, Candra was seen as an "associate" of Shinobi's, I know that much.

Well that doesn't mean Selene/Candra have a rivalry. Shinobi Shaw appeared with Candra in X-Men Annual 3, when they tried to coerce Storm into joining them, but her appearance was brief and she was never seen with Shinobi again... So... there is no Selene/Candra issue, is there?

OMG Candra <3 few realize what a true treasure she was. As for should Selene have revived her, no. The two of them seem to have avoided each other for years for a reason. Two dominant females who consider themselves goddesses probably wouldn't get on well and I would hate to see Candra as Selene's slave.

And as much as I love her it's total Lulz what she did with her gem/heart. Why not protect it better? Such a Sauron moment.

Also it wasn't until I read it online that I realized that the tithe lady in XTAS was supposed to be Candra. I wonder why they changed her appearance so drastically?

Candra has no time for such a pity rivalry where her and Selene can easily become BFF and battle the X-Men. Anyways, I would LOVE to have Candra back into the X-Books or better yet X-Men Legacy.

My theory is that she's not really dead but merely biding her time until she returns to have her vengeance

I'm sure if a writer wanted it would be easy enough to bring her back. The destruction of her gem basically just dispersed her essence. It's possible she's floating around somewhere like the Shadow King.

I loved her in AOA, I just wish she would have been around longer. But they let Holocaust kill her off panel. :frown:

I think what I liked most about her was that for a villain she only really had one powerset, TK. But she had perfected its use so well that she had become a major threat. It was just refreshing to see a villain who didn't have 5+ powers at their disposal.

Did we ever find out how old Candra was?

I liked Candra too, and thought it was cool that she had so much time to perfect her TK that she made excellent used of only one power. What I liked about her too is that she could give people powers as well which is an excellent power for an evil mastermind--instant powered henchman. Was she doing this with her TK? If so she was reaaaalllly good with her TK.

She could easily be brought back, they've brought others back with less. I'm not sure they ever said how old she was but I would go with only a couple hundred as she still had a young appearance and didn't seem to e any kind of vampire like Selene.

Well the story seems to have been based on Candra. Since she did have dealings with the guilds. Not sure why the animators made her look so different. I did love her voice though and she was way over the top.

Yes. Candra's telekinesis was so bonkers she could manipulate stuff on a molecular level. That's how she did all that genetic business with Bella Donna and gave her powers.

I think it's just been so long that I'm not hopeful she will return. It would probably take a writer who enjoyed that time of the comics to bring her back.

Didn't she have dealings with Sinister in the past? I wonder if he has her genetic stock on file somewhere.

The AOA one was pretty lackluster :( There is a mention in the 2005 AOA Handbook about a Horseman War that took place soon after Apocalypse's ascendance and she was involved in. That was the only good thing out of the Anniversary and it was a mere mention in a handbook.
