Words can't describe how Sunlight Heart wielding Shonen cliche fag Kazuki Muto pisses me off so damn badly. Seriously, I never thought a main character so damn lame, plot induced, one demensional and sucky would surpass Uzumaki Naruto in being one of the worst shonen main characters ever. As for the plot, I fucking hate this shit, it's so damn distasteful and retconned I had to stop watching and pick up what little sanity I had left. The main character is so fucking mediorce and stupid he basically uses his PIS Kakugane to bail him out of improssible situations without fighting knowledge, training or experience. The story is so damn anti climatic, it's about a dude who dies and a chick brings him back to left with his eventual plot device that he wields and beats samurai swords men and immortal alchemists, he never even seems to have the advantage in fights, he relies on a lance that can make him heal his body, can regenerate and can do al sorts of plot induced things for the side characters, the love interest seems boring and stale, bitchy and emo, disgusting combination. Attacks with leg braces, IMO lamest weapon ever.
The rival is homosexual butter fly man who has the worst and gayest fashion sense ever, which makes me wonder what the creator was on when he created him. Captain Bravo is a rip off of Maito Gai, and the rest are too sucky ass to mater. I guess the samurai dude is the only tolerable character in the anime. But I thought I'd rant off and show you how dull and pointless this anime is.
I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.

And anyway, I read a little of the Manga, it looked like it could be pretty good. Admittedly I haven't read much of it, I had other Manga obligations at the time (S-CRY-ED for one.), but what I did read looked nice.

Naw it's ok. Though the manga was cancelled after all.

Though the manga was cancelled, it had an awesome ending. Besides, it was more rushed than anything according to Watsuki's free talk, and he was satisfied with it(the revolutionary war with Moon Face would've been sweet though). Overall, it was a great manga series and easily Watsuki's second best work following RK.

I've just watched the anime and I kind of liked and Papillon is too fun.

I didn't realize the series had been canceled. Was wondering why it was so short at least compared to the Kenshin series. Though I had figured the author simply didn't didn't a long running series this time out. Was that unpopular? Or just not popular enough?
I was thinking of picking this up but at first glanced it seemed kinda Rave-ish (as in Rave Master). Which isn't really a bad thing since I liked the anime (Rave Master) though I didn't get to finish it since it either never finished airing on TV or I missed the end. However I took a pass on it at time figuring I'd read it a later time.

Well, as Watsuki stated, except for the Moonface war and wanting to expand on the Victor vs Kazuki fight, everything else was as he intended it to be for the most part. The manga seemed like it would've been 15 volumes at maximum if he included the war, so it still wouldn't have been as long as RK.
Either way, it was a great series.

Plus Papillon was great. And his Busou Renkin was aweome.

Yeah, loki does the same thing to describe every manga/Anime character that isn't an Uchiha, it's gotten pretty old.

I really wish you wouldn't.
I have no love for the series, having never seen it, but I'd rather that I didn't have tocome on here and see such a distasteful tirade of comments.
Kindly keep your opinions either civil or to yourself Loki.

That's like telling the Himilayas to get up and do the can-can.
Read: impossible.

Started reading the manga but gave up. I didn't react quite as strongly as Loki, though. Rather. I just didn't find it interesting, and the plot and characters didn't grab me.
Rather surprising, seeing as what huge a Rurouni Kenshin fan I was back in the day. I kinda expected it to be better. oO

Having just watched the anime does it differ much from the manga I wonder?

Nope. There are little to no differences between the manga and anime.

Alright then well I liked it, the leading character wasn't really my cup of tea, but other then that I rather enjoyed it.

My two cents.
Why? Because I can.
"Buso Renkin" is a relatively decent shonen series. Pretty standard faire, standard-ish plot and construction, did a few things well, and a few things poorly. I have always considered it a middle-of-the-road, run-of-the-mill series.
Things I especially liked:
The weapons. The main character has a spear. Kinda like "MAR", it is just refreshing to see the main character not using a sword. I also found the Valkryie Skirt pretty neat, simply for its unique design. I mean, it is a set of swords on robo-arms connected to the legs. It just demands to be used in fun and neat ways. Most of the others are more generic, but every now and again you get a really neat ability that is used well.
Papillion. I just gotta admire the guy. He is essentially alive due to his massive, driving ego, he knows and acknowledges that, and does not care a flip about it anyway. Papillion has his own goals, his own methods (and preferred dress), and does not give a care about what anyone else thinks about it. That raw confidence, backed up by a fair amount of ability, is hard to ignore.
The ending. It should have been a "one shall live, and one shall die, and a tragedy either way" type of ending. But the cast effectively shot that the bird, and said "We're going give everyone a happy ending, anyway." It was nice that it managed to keep it's lighthearted attitude through the end, despite conventions.

I saw a few episodes to see what this series was like. Didn't stick around with it too long.
