View Full Version : What are Your Favourite Moments in Final Crisis so far?

Yay.
A Positive Thread in the Final crisis Sub forum, how wierd is that?
so, my favourite moments as of 5 issues worth of material are:
The Opening with Anthro and seeing The *past* version of Vandal Savage, Morrison wrote another story called 1 million and we get to see vandal (cain of the crime bible) in the future, as he is immortal, so he can exist in any timeline. cool.
The mystery of Orions death, and the actually panel when the bullet shot back throught time hits him in the head.
Barry allen returning and running along side the other flashes:biggrin: big blue eyes.
The coming of Libra and his take over of the new secret society of villains and the death of the martian manhunter.
Batman taken out by granny goodness hiding in the body of Alpha lantern kraken.
The Superyoung team and sonny sumo. Mr miracle and his team.
Alan Scott and his resistence. The Printing press in the fortress of solitude.
Black adam beating down mary mary (really Desaad)
All of Darkseids speeches and moments, his very evil and dominate presence.
I have plenty more moments i love.

FC #1:
The revelation that code 1011 in the Green Lantern Corps stands for deicide. That's cool, because it implies that the GLC have dealt with enough deities being murdered that they needed a standard code for it.
Vandal Savage reverting from civilized to barbaric in just panels when taunted by Libra.
FC #2:
The entire Japanese superhero nightclub scene entertained me, especially the names of the Japanese heroes. Most Excellent Superbat indeed.
Hal Jordan being framed for the assault on John Stewart was great. At first, it seemed completely ridiculous, until I recalled the Parallax storyline.
The confrontation between Batman and the Alpha Lantern. Love to root for an underdog, but hate to see a more powerful character job to a weaker one. Batman did see through her deception, but overestimated his ability to handle this situation without backup.
FC #3:
The Flashes chasing the bullet fired through time, then running away from the Black Racer.
The crowd scene where Alan Scott drafts the other heroes. I'm just a sucker for a picture crammed full of superheroes.
FC: Submit:
The artwork could have been better, but otherwise I enjoyed this whole issue. The rapid pace reminded me in good ways of the first Terminator movie. The ongoing dialogue between Black Lightning and the Tattooed Man was great, reflecting two very different world views while still showing respect for the characters having lived very different lives. It would be cool to see Tattooed Man reform after this Crisis, but I would also be happy to simply see him developed as a more nuanced villain.
FC #4:
Green Arrow's heroic last stand.
The reunion between Barry and Iris, right down to his classic apology for being late.
FC #5:
The trial of Hal Jordan was more than I could have hoped for. Nice character turns, and then Hal closes the deal with a classic punch to the face.
Father Time responds to Renee Montoya's crack about science fiction by saying "science fact" then spouting off about some of the weirder aspects of string theory and quantum physics.
The two-page scene that prominently features Frankenstein, my favorite of the Seven Soldiers. Too bad his dialogue fell short.
The closing sequence with Darkseid and his 3 billion new followers elevated him to the level of awesome that he should always be at.

All of Final Crisis: Rogues Revenge
But if we're just talking the main mini itself, then Ollie fighting against Darkseid's minions, knowing he'll be captured or killed, but giving Dinah and the others time to escape.

Libra killing the Martian Manhunter
Barry Allen & the Black Racer.
Hal Jordan's smirk when Kraken (Granny Goodness) turns her back on him.
Hal jordan beating the shit out of Kraken (Granny Goodness). Just with his fists.
Captain Cold in Rogues Revenge.

maybe that devastating panel in issue four i think, where darkseid's goons are holding a mirror up for the miserable last vestiges of turpin to see
he's just helpless and losing his soul with that expression and his eyes are starting to go red.......damn

Barry telling Jay and Wally to run as fast as they can after the bullet that kills Orion.
Barry meeting with Isis and telling her everything will be ok (so touching)
The Guardian clearing Hal of all charges and telling him he's got 24 hours to save Earth (To me it sounded like the Guardian was almost bored, that this was all just another day on the job for him).
Frankenstein leading the charge against Kalibek and the Justifiers.
Metron solving the Rubix Cube in 17 moves
Darkseid's speech at the end of issue #5.
I hope that Superman's return next issue is a good one to.

Let me browse them ... (this'll give me a chance to look for those hints about Batman DiDio mentioned).
1. Black Racer waiting patiently for Orion's life force to stop. (And subsequently him seeing the Flashes and them outrunning him).
2. Dan-Seid beating Mad Hatter half to death with household items.
3. Clayface owns Superman.
4. Hall of Doom! The place is so ominous and classic, that Libra choosing it to head up his Society HQ was perfect.
5. Resist. Whole issue was pure gold. Snapper, Cheetah, Terrific ...
6. Black Adam love. The guy did almost start World War III by himself ... FC doesn't argue that he's the baddest mother-effer on the planet, and it doesn't hype him either. It just shows him doing what he usually does. And as usual, he's not wrong ... kill Mary and problem solved ... sort of.
7. Hal Jordan & Co. Taken out of the game early ... Hal definitely deserves to be the first one back in for the final battle royale and his colleagues, the stars of the best corner of the DCU are right beside him.
8. Metal Men as motorcycles. Awesome.
9. Die for Darkseid. Things got epic with a capital E at the end of this last issue.
10. Props to Rucka for Revelations. Any continuation of Crime Bible, Fifty-Two, and Gotham Central is cause to celebrate.

Barry telling Jay and Wally to run as fast as they can after the bullet that kills Orion.
I have to wonder just how fast that bullet was if three of the fastest beings ever to live in the Multiverse couldn't catch it.
What's fast enough to outspeed three Flashes?

the MM funeral scene with the self-aware comment about resurrections was pretty amazing too

That splash page hooked me on DC. I've been buying and reading trades like mad ever since to catch up. Top notch!

Maybe, The God killing Bullet was composed of the new god Lightray? who is faster than any of the Flashes.

Nothing's faster than the Speed Force.
Though 3 Flashes sharing it might "drain" it's resources, dividing the SF in 3.
Is that how the Speed Force works?, cause I'm curious if it's some sort of semi-sentient being that you can use or "navigate thru" but does it feel the pull of 3 Flashes? Or is it undrainable?
Like the Flash in KC, he's all in one. Finally :)

no, the narative states darkseid has awoken the dark monitor.
Nix Uoton is the survillence age superhero, he must has remembered his word and reverts to his costume. he will play a major role in defeating the bad guys.

Gods of Speed are well established as being faster than the Flashes. For instance Mercury and Hermes ran circles around Wally in War of the Gods.

Wally was slower in those days. WAR OF THE GODS (1991) took place before THE RETURN OF BARRY ALLEN (1993), when Wally finally regained his full speed after being limited to the speed of sound after the First Crisis. Since the discovery of the Speed Force, Wally has become even faster yet.

Buried Alien beat me to what i wanted to ponit out.
The Flashes Wally and Barry can run way faster then Hermes and Mercury because they can access the speed force, to my knowledge Hermes and all the other Speedster gods can't access it.

I never thought I'd love Final Crisis this much:
#1
- Anthro defeating his enemies with fire
- Most of Turpin's narrative
- The Black Racer standing invisible at the murder scene
- "1011? Deicide?"
- "You attacked us with zero provocation, fascist!"
- Libra
- "There was a war in Heaven, Mister Turpin, and I won"
- "It's best that you see the face of the new model human from your knees"
- The Multiversal Orrery
#2
- Super Young Team
- "Japan has always had a proud tradition of super-heroism, with special distinction in the field of monster hunting"
- Martian Manhunter's funeral on Mars
- Kraken taking down Batman
- The bullet shot backwards in time
- "Wally! Jay! Everybody! Run!"
#3
- Jay narrating his encounter with Barry, telling Iris he's alive
- Libra owning Lex Luthor
- Superman using his heat vision to keep Lois' heart beating
- Article X
- Alan Scott leads the resistance
- The Anti-Life Equation spreads across the internet
- Oracle kills the internet
- Barry and Wally's glimpse into the future
FC: Submit
- The banter between Black Lightining and the Tattooed Man
- "Don't just burn the newspapers. People struggled hard to make them. And books? Burning books is what Darkseid's Justifiers do"
- "Mark Richards, the Tattooed-Man, was never a super-criminal. Or a super-villain. He was more than that. He was a superhero all the time." And this almost had me crying.
FC: Resist
- Snaper Car's guerilla warfare
- Baby monsters
- The OMACs are activated
#4
- Ray, I love to see him get some page space
- The "Flash Widows Club" - Ollie is a loveable ass
- Kalibak's new tiger-like body
- Turpin's breaking down
- Alan Scott contacting the heroes
- Green Arrow's last stand
- Barry kissing Iris
- Turpin seeing himself in the mirror as he's turning into Darkseid
- "Give in"

Actually, that line was one of the few misfires in FC's handling of the Flash Family to me. I mean, no, Iris, he wasn't outsmarted- because he died running a giant doomsday cannon into nothingness. Intelligence didn't come into it.

I'm really glad he got his math right. If there is 3 billion people and they each have 2 eyes. 2x3 billion = 6 billion.
maybe Superman points out that not everyone has two eyes or eyes at all, and Darkseid is so upset he gives up without a fight to study averages?

I just hope Turpin doesn't overcome the possession in the end; that'd be so cliched. No human should have enough will power to resist Darkseid infecting his sould and mind.

Also Turpin finally failing in his resistance to Darkseid and giving a thumbs down for earth - beautiful.I'd go with that scene as well. Sort of a turning point in the story, showing that Morrison's at least trying to be serious about the whole "evil winning" idea. There probably should have been a similar scene with Batman or Superman, though, and the fact that there wasn't, and the bit last issue about Batman destroying the clone army as well as Superman's eventual return, leads me to suspect that Morrison's deep feeling for the DCU and its icons is going to end up undermining his effort to restore the New Gods concept.
