I loved "Like a sack of flaming crap on your doorstep". Gail seems to top herself every month. The book only becoming more outrageous each month. This has to be my favorite DC book.

No. No. "Food. Dip Me in Gravy, Won't You, Good Chaps?" was the best line and in part how Ragdoll delivered it.. Hahaha! Issue after issue is filled with so much goodness! This is no exception.

Love this book. So much fun and violence. Seeing Bane get stabbed and reacting in practically no way was such bad assness. First time in this series I've liked him.

Oh, and the creepiness between him and Scandal continues to grow. Hopefully he doesn't attempt raping her and this is all some grooming process that most molesters would take. Otherwise, bye bye Bane.

Did you miss the issue where he mentioned she needs a positive father figure? Bane is trying to be a "good daddy" to her and it's hilarious.

Great issue, I laughed a little too hard a choked a bit. Very, very interesting story and so funny! Jeanette is shaping up to be an interesting character indeed, and the Bane/Scandal relationship gets a little creepier with each issue. I though Catman was being a bit of a jerk, but the stakes are pretty high if the card is the real deal. Looking forward to the next issue, and finding out what the deal is with Junior.

That's not Bane at all, he's quite an honorable person.

All Bane is trying to do is be a positive father figure to Scandel seeing as she never had one.

It only seems weird because Banes never been a father to anyone, so he's treating Scandel like a child. He doesn't know what to do

Loved this issue, one of, if not the best book I'm currently reading. The only thing that comes close is JSA.

So is it just me or does anybody else think Junior is related to Doll?

Another great issue by Gail, i'm loving how Deadshot and Bane couldn't care less about the card, Doll either for that matter, the only two on the team that really give a damn are Catman and Scandal. Bane telling Scandal she could have any one icecream she wanted was classic!

I know that Bane claims he's trying to be a good father figure for her, but there's just something overly creepy with everything he's trying to do. What he is doing is something similar most child molesters do to their victims before they commit the act...

Maybe in his mind he's trying to be a kind and honourable person, but at the same time, maybe he has feelings for her?

I don't know, I'm really curious what Gail is going to do with this...

Me thinks you're a bit overly assumptive of the molestation deal.

Very possibly, but this is the Secret Six we're talking about. Everyone in the group has some weird thing about them. Bane seems a little out of the loop, and needs something to bring him down to their level. Maybe not molestation, but trying to do SOMETHING with Scandal could be possible...

Junior tied up in a sack in the backseat was hilarious. Can't wait for next issue to find out something about this headcase.

I think it goes without saying that Simone's writing is always terrific, but I have to comment on just how good a penciler Scott is anymore. She was always talented, in my opinion, but she has absolutely knocked this series out of the park from the very start. Definitely one of my favorite DC artists. I'm tempted to say that even if Simone couldn't write (and she can, so no worries there), I would still buy Secret Six simply for the art. That's not something I regularly do, either.

Men in Tights: Secret Six #4 (http://www.wizarduniverse.com/121208menintights2.html)

So, anybody got IDs for the attackers at the end? I recognize Black Spider, Bolt, Brutale, the female Crazy Quilt, Humpty Dumpty, Jongleur, Killer Frost, King Shark, Lady Vic, Mr. Terrible, Amos Fortune, Sting, Toyman & Virtuoso, but I'm drawing a blank on the rest. Who's the eye-patched dude that Floyd headshots?

Exactly! That was the vibe I picked up while reading this issue. Wasn't there another Ragdoll, before the present one? That character isn't one I'm familiar with, other than from Secret Six (I do really enjoy him, though!).

The current Rag Doll is the son of the original Rag Doll. His father looks down on him, because while the original's powers were natural, his son had to go through lots of surgery to acquire his. They fought each other in the Villains United mini, and Rag Doll Sr. died in an arc of JSA: Classified that featured the Injustice Society.

In James Robinson's Starman series, there was also a Rag Doll impostor named Colby Zag, who only appeared in one issue.

The current Ragdoll in Secret Six also has an older brother, born with the same abilities as his father.

So, Junior???

Spoilers.

I think i know who the new big bad in secret six really is.

I might seem like an obvious choice but nobody else has mentioned it or talked about it,

I reckon it is Ragdolls dad. Peter Merkel!

The Original Ragdoll who murdered, stole, hurt, chewed, raped, tortured people before.

He died in the JSA Classified story by jen van meter trying to rob Promethues magic key.

Clues: hiding in a box. traveling in a sack of spuds, His disjointedness, the way he walks, his swewn together skin, his unshapely head. his evilness.

Toughts?

Another amazing and hilarious issue, i think Scandal is starting to warm up to Bane at least on a non romantic level.

Which i guess precludes Knockout from coming back :frown:

Secret Six #4 of 6
Writer: Gail Simone
Artist: Nicola Scott
From: DC Comics
Reviewed by: Richard Renteria

This is one of those titles that’s just fun for all the wrong reasons. There is nothing redeeming about the storyline. The protagonists are not on a mission of good but rather a mission of greed. There is no reason to root for the Secret Six. Yet, in spite of it all, by the end of this issue I felt myself rooting for the bad guys. Taking great pains to ensure her story does not devolve into a series of pratfalls, writer Gail Simone presents a refreshing take on the super-villain team concept by dwelling in the basement of dark humor and allowing the story to flow in a somewhat natural progression, even if the Lando-like betray was a bit obvious.

The best aspect of this title remains the trust that has been built-up between the team members and how they manage to co-exist. With this issue though, Simone starts to test those bonds of trust when the group discovers the truth about Neron’s card and its potential ramifications. Throughout the issue, Simone gives each member of the group a unique personality and utilizes otherwise seemingly irredeemable characters with good effect. Bane is by far the most interesting character of the title as his sense of honor and justice create an interesting dynamic to his new status within the DCU. Junior, the main antagonist, continues to be a scary creature and the nature of his desire for the card is revealed with gruesome effect. Simone excels at characterization; even her secondary characters, like Tig and Aaron (Junior’s helpers), have unique personalities that are expanded upon as the story continues.

On the art side, Nicola Scott provides a consistent look from page to page while displaying a wide range of emotions from her characters. Scandal’s brief talk with Knockout was a particularly effective scene. Scott really brings about a longing in Scandal that adds further dimension to her character. There are a variety of elements at play throughout this issue and Scott handles each in an effective manner. Simone, for her part, never tries to reform her characters, but she does make them interesting.

I hadn't thought about Vandal being involved, but I agree that it seems like Bane is watching over her due to an impending baby.

Did you read the last mini series? Vandal savage was involved in that big time with a major plot regarding scandal and catman having a baby together. it was really good fun. 6 issues.

I wonder when the mad hatter will get his revenge for being tossed off the roof by Ragdoll?

I am LOVING this book! Gail is an obvious talent at creating tension in the SS camp, you can almost smell the paranoia between Catman and Scandal.

As for the connection between Ragdoll and Junior, I thought it too. Ragdoll mentioned in Villains United that his brother was triple jointed like his father. maybe Junior is actually Ragdoll Junior?
