Can anyone give me a link or something for information on the Narrows in the comic series? For the life of me I can't seem to find it. I've been searching for at least a half an hour. I've searched "Batman comic info" "Narrows comic info" and several others. If anyone knows anything could ya let me know? Thanks guys!

You know, I think they just made the Narrows up for the movie.

As Far as I know it has never appeared in a comic, just the movies. If anything it's based on Crime Alley, which is the nastiest place in Gotham City and is also the place were Bruce's parents were shot.

Ooooohhhh. I was beginning to think that was the case. Since I couldn't find it anywhere else but the movies. I just figured it would be in the comics somewhere. I wanted to know cause I'm writing a fan short. I was gonna use Crime Alley. But in the movie the Narrows was a nasty place. I very much appreciate it guys! Now I can finish up the short!

Nah it was just created for the movies. In the No Man's Land arc they have good maps of Gotham and there is no mention of it on any of them.

The Narrows is mentioned in the current issue of Detective Comics (#851), and was mentioned in Batman Confidential #17.

That's only recently. Before, there was no such place. Arkham was located outside of the city. There's Tri-Corner, the East End, Park Row/Crime Alley, the Zone and so on. There's also two islands from the city. One for Blackgate and one for Paris Island, where an amusement park stood for years until a fire broke out.

Clearly Infinite Crisis knocked the Narrows into reality.

Batgirl identified Catwoman in Batman Confidential #17 as "the Robin Hood of the Narrows", which suggests that the East End is located in the Narrows.

The Narrows doesn't sound like an "official" designation anyways, more like a derogatory nickname that stuck, not unlike "Crime Alley".

The Gotham City Chamber Of Commerce probably doesn't refer to the Narrows as such in their visitor brochures.

Exactly.

The narrows was caleld that because (as we can see in the movies) it's narrow. The apartment builds are tall, cloistered together, creating a claustrophobic feeling. The streets and alleys are numerous, long, and tight. The whole place is just a narrow nasty slum-pit. Thus, it is "the narrows."
