I've always wondered about these. Are the issues of Batman Chronicles with these stories worth picking up? Is Robin featured in them?

I'm drawing a blank as far as Robin is concerned, but I think he was in them... Anyway, if you like the zany, out.-there stories of the late 40's and 50's, you should enjoy both tales. Besides, both the robot dinosaur and the giant penny are still in the Batcave, so there's even a bit of continuity involved.

Both tales are also reprinted in the tpb "Secrets of The Batcave", btw. The book contains a bunch of other interesting tidbits, such as "The First Batman", which Morrison recently brought back to the forefront. Maybe you want to get that collection if you are unsure about the Chronicles.

Secrets of the Batcave? Never even heard of this! What's the "First Batman"? Sorry, haven't started the whole Batman & Son/Black Glove/RIP arc yet (though own the books).

Wait, wait...are these reprints of the Silver Age stories or the "modern re-imagining" featured in Chronicles?

By Chronicles I'm referring to the series called "Batman: Chronicles" not the silver-age reprint trades. I think the Dinosaur Island is in Issue #19 and the Penny is explained in issue #8?

Ah, gotcha. I was referring to the Silver Age reprints, which can be found in "Secrets Of The Batcave"

"The First Batman" is also a Silver Age story. It revealed that (in pre-Crisis continuity at least) Thomas Wayne once wore a "Bat-Man" costume to a masked ball, where he ended up stopping the evil schemes of a mobster. Once you get around to the third issue of R.I.P., you'll start to see how it's relevant again.

Actually, the Batman Chronicles trades reprint golden-age stories (at least at this point), not silver-age.

yeah, I know, picky, picky, picky.
