HELLO. I AM ALLEN ADAM OR BETTER KNOWN AS THE QUANTUM SUPERMAN. I AM ACTUALLY DOCTOR MAHATTAN IN A DIFFERENT TIME AND SPACE.
ALLOW ME TO SHARE THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE BLEED IN ITS RELATION TO CREATION.
It makes perfect logical sense that the gap between the multiverse/52 universes would be blood whereby an actual form of arteries exist as a delivery/circulatory system by which this blood or “The Bleed”, as referred to in Superman Beyond # 1, courses through, animates and connects every single universe.
To support the theory or significance of "The Bleed", i have only need of one Universe as a sample criteria. Ours. The Universe consists of people, the planet earth, our solar system and the entire expanse of space that exists or will exist beyond our solar system. The Universe is the entirety of existense . Now consider the Universe as being housed by a particular binding substance/energy/force that envelopes and courses into the entirety of existence and hence binds it to form, shape and eventual purpose and is the primary causes for all significant movement in the Universe. Now consider the human circulatory system as being designed after the system by which the Universe is animated or vice versa. This ‘Meta’ Blood/ substance/energy/force therefore would then be what maintains motion in matter and hence time.
You must also consider the probabilty that the human or even Superman’s albeit 4-D perspective can only visually conceive of this substance as blood.
Good enough?

hmmm....
ahhhh...
n...
Are you current on the WildStorm Universe and The Authority?
I wonder how MARVEL stable-pen Warren Ellis feels about creating a DCU quasi-biological system.
Grant Warned Us. A long time ago in DC/Vertigo's THE FILTH: this contains the active ingredient METAPHOR.
The Bleed worked very well for the idea of a Multiverse when it was created by Warren Ellis and first appeared in Stormwatch (vol. 2) #7 (May 1998)... About this time effective Jan 1999, Warner Bros/DC had purchased the former IMAGE now indy WildStorm.
Currently, the Bleed fits like a glove in the DCU Multiverse now that it includes the WildStorm as Earth-50.

I've never read the Filth. What's your point in referring to the Filth? Are you saying that Superman Beyond is metaphor?

The Filth is pretty dense...I'd tackle DC/Vertigo THE INVISIBLES first! It'll make more sense. But Morrison's Body of Work share certain trappings, FC Superman Beyond is consistent in this.
As it being metaphor...all funnybooks are metaphor on some level. Using an actual physical thing such as blood to describe a fictional no-space that acts like blood can be seen as metaphor. Honestly it can fall either way the closer we inspect it.

The Bleed isn't a metaphor because the whole story isn't.
No such thing as a metaphor for interdimensional travel.

A metaphor is just an example. Using one thing to describe another. I'm not arguing because there really is no argument. A metaphor is symbolic. There's nothing more symbolic than Superman, punkfrodo2009. Morrison Himself refers to the Chest "S" as a SuperSigil.
This is a great funnybook. I really dig stuff that makes you think and has reverence for the character & icon. Hey, did you pop your 3-D glasses out too?
Well...a universe in the multiverse is literally "space". The Bleed is...to use a metaphor...the Bleed are the gutters between the panels. Refer to Grant's ANIMAL MAN TPB 3 for how He got Me to See this. Space/Time.
But the Bleed isn't space/time...it's "ganz andare"...something wholly other than the Cosmos. The renegade Monitor uses metaphor to describe Bleed to Superman, "as crystals grow in solution, so have the 52 Universes of the Orrey within the Bleed." So Bleed...to use another metaphor...is a form of matter such as liquid or gas and its area of volume can be collected and traversed. This is how Grant is describing The Bleed. As Beyond Space/Time & Matter nonetheless attainable even for the ubermensch.
I can't wait to see the Orrey again in Final Crisis...
but it seems as though I'm supporting the original engaging thought about the Bleed. Our universe's repulsive force on galaxies (perhaps due to dark matter) hence red shift, et al seen as blood-like. It's the seeing part...the comparison that makes it metaphor. It is not blood. But is very much behaving as blood would.

Hey you're right. .
But its wierd. Never read any of Grant's old stuff. Ohnestly, read only Kid Eternity and Seven Soldiers as oldest works. Kid Eternity was very trippy due solely to the art and some dialouge but really good. Apart from these two, my only G.Morrison books are All Star Superman , Batman - From the Damian Arc to present and all his current DCU stuff. Am I right to say you cited references to Metaphysics ("... beyond Space/Time and Matter...")? Also, your references to quantum physics were also very interesting.
I don't know anything about quantum physics and only very little on metaphysics - All i know of the General Topic of cosmogony and nature of reality are quite mixed up and brief. I'm really just a pompous layman. I took what little I know from my old 1950s edition cathecism Book, Tolkien - e.g. Silmarillion, Morgoths Ring, etc. and some chapters of Plato's Timeaus and Critias. hehehehe.
Like I said weird.

Both Invisibles and Filth are amazing and pretty Morrison´s M.O, Superman:Beyond can be compared to those, specially the first issue, Grant is master of doing this type of writing and I think the final issue will have something Invisibles/Filth alike end, a surprise.

Well I picked up FINAL CRISIS #5 tonight and am looking forward to reading it over and over again until #6 next month.
Now is the time for Grant for you? Totally...Final Crisis is what you need. It's smart & fast-paced. It tells A LOT of story...people are only now figuring out the storytelling pacing.
Read BATMAN from the Damien arc in total as R.I.P....wow. I did that last week and it was worth it.
When Final Crisis #6 comes out so will Superman Beyond #2!!!
Also if you like the concept of the Bleed, check out THE AUTHORITY Vol. 1 from WildStorm. And/Or the fabulous PLANETARY. Both by the Bleed's creator, Warren Ellis. I read & remember the Bleed's first appearance in StormWatch, which in the Ellis run completely set up this conversation we're having. StormWatch by Warren Ellis is in 5 trade paperbacks and comes before The Authority in timeline.

And such a continuation of his earliest DCU material from his 1989 ANIMAL MAN with King Merryman of Limbo & the Typewriting Monkey.
I'm looking forward to Grant & JG Jones' MARVEL BOY. I hear it's unreal...
BTW: Warren Ellis recently introduced a "Bleed"-like concept into the MARVEL U. It's called a "Ghost Box". RTFM & enjoy, please.
I recently reread THE INVISIBLES entire story, all 7 tpbs. For the 4th time. In order to get ready for FINAL CRISIS.
Although, I do admit I really hope FINAL CRISIS: SUBMIT isn't a waste...

I'm "revving" up for my second read of Final Crisis #5...wow. I'm impressed.
Morrison is really great at finding the character's voice. Most Excellent Superbat's reaction to Mister Miracle's shooting was flawless...Guy Gardener, Hawkman's answer to the Anti-Life Equation. Now I need to study the Rubik's Cube...wow. Nice ending.
Now we come to its endgame with January & February releases. Along with Superman Beyond #2! HUZZAH!
