I don't read Nightwing; I've never had much interest in the character outside of the occasion guest spot in Batman.

But holy hell is this terrible. Is this representative of the book's quality on average?

That's some terrible dialog. He shows up with Pizza and stays for, like, three minutes? And leaves with the 'disguise' on? "Never mind my Domino mask, or these tights... I've got a hat and jacket. No one will suspect a thing."

Man, I'm really blown away by how bad that was.

you are reading it out of context, This is part of an ongoing story. Carol is in a safehouse, kept safe away from two-face, she doesn't know dick grayson, just nightwing, so turning up in costume is appropos.

he had to leave, big things await him.

Reading this preview, I must say: let Nightwing be Nightwing. I don't want Dick turning into the new Batman. Also, it's kind of stupid for Nightwing to not wear some kind of protective gear on his head. Come on, the guy has a body suit covering all of his body except his head is uncovered and unprotected?

Yeah, it's clear that she's in hiding... that's what they're talking about. It's not very subtle, what, with the whole "how's the relocation thing going? Here's some pizza from your old life. Funeral... blah blah blah." They give all the context right there in the bad dialog.

And, like, I get him showing up in costume... it's the costume over his costume that's retarded. Again, I get why he's covering the costume with another costume, i just think it's terrible... his costume's costume. A hat and bright jacket? I dunno...

And, sure, he had to go... but, uh, Minnesota's a long way to go for a three minute visit that had nothing but a bunch of awkward small talk.

I like this Nightwing arc even more now! It was already my all time favorite Nightwing Arc, and this looks like a great ending. I am glad that Carol is alive too.

Best of all? This Nightwing is COMPETENT!

Batman pulls that all the time ... not so blatantly, but Dick is a lighter character. Plus for all anyone knows, Carol has neighbors that are awake. He can't check in on her without his costume, and he can't show up in the neighborhood without people being like "holy crap, Nightwing in our neighborhood!" and possibly leading Two-Face or the mob back to Carol ... so, costume-over-costume.

That being said, I suppose it could've just been the domino mask. I mean, the clothes aren't really hiding anything anyway ... this circumstance or not.

No, again, I fully get the costume over the costume idea in theory. I just think it's a terrible example of a costume to costume your costume, you know?

And he climbs out the window!!!

Look, if you're going to use logic in your story ideas, you should use the same logic to carry out those ideas. I can blame the colorist for the bright jacket... but putting the hat on backwards negates the shadowing of the face that is its purpose... after he climbs out the window!!!

I mean, come on.

WOW! This is looks surprisingly good. I'm tempted to pick up Nightwing's R.I.P. tie-in now...

"I guess you are the world's greatest detective"? Woah. This little tidbit coupled with the pin-up of Nightwing holding the cape and cowl in #681 certainly seems like a massive hint towards the future... Too massive, maybe. Could it be that Dick will end up rejecting everyone's unspoken expectation and turn down the Batman idenity?

Unless the outcome of the "Battle For The Cowl" isn't the mini's main selling point, I think all this foreshadowing might lead up to a big fake-out.
