I'm potentially moving to the UK early next year and I'm curious how the release schedule and publishers work over there? Selection as good as the US? Wednesday release days? Just curious..

We get US comics on Thursdays and depending on how good your local your shop is, you'll have a equal, if not better selection, than what you may be used to. Also you'll find most good shops will have a large selection of non-superhero comics and a whole pile of stuff outside of the superhero/manga titles that tend to fill shops.

Plus you'll have to start reading Viz. Everyone reads Viz. It's great.

I've never had trouble finding any titles in a UK shop, so I would guess the selection is probably about as good, or very close.

Forbidden Planet (http://www.forbiddenplanet.com/fp) has stores around the UK, and sells a wide range of comics and graphic novels, plus games, merchandise, books, etc. Besides that, most cities will have a few independant shops, and many newsagents also carry a small selection of comics.

And if you want to mail order, Page 45 (http://www.page45.com/) in Nottingham's great.

As king mob noted, we get our new comics a day later than you do in the U.S. but other than that, the selection's fine as far as mainstream Marvel, DC and the larger Indies like Dark Horse, Image or Dynamite goes. I personally do have a little bit of trouble getting hold of stuff published by the smaller American publishers but that might just be the incompetence of my LCS more than anything else.

I don't know how things work in the U.S. exactly but you will definitely need to locate a specialist comic store in order to get a good selection of the latest U.S. comics as a rule of thumb. Regular Newspaper shops over here do sell comics but they're English comics or English re-prints of American comics.

Where abouts in the UK will you be living? Any idea at this stage?

Around Edinburgh to start and then likely moving, once my baseline is complete, to somewhere about Bath or Glastonbury. I think I'd like to stay in Scotland but my wife really loves southwestern England.

Yeah, Scotland's nice, with some absolutely stunning scenery. I've only spent one day of my life in Edinburgh, so I can't really comment on the city too much but it certainly seemed like a cool place. I can equally see the attraction of Bath and Glastonbury though. Actually, thinking about it...Bath in particular is a lovely city.

So nowhere cheap then.

If you're renting then Bath is a better option than Glastonbury due to Glastonbury being so expensive to live in, not to mention finding rented property in Glasto is hard to come by.
