Bettie Page Hospitalized After Heart Attack (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/12/05/bettie-page-hospitalized-_n_148898.html)
The pin-up queen is well into her 80's and might not make it.
So a few prayers certainly could not hurt.
mental illness? born again Christian? I did not know? O.o
but in any case, I do wish her well and if she goes, there will be many people who miss her. She definitely inspired a lot of people.

Back in the day...
When i was a youngun and interested in porn, i snuck (actually just walked in, nobody carded me or anything) into a "shop" and perused the titles on the stands. One stuck out in particular... the Irving Klaw collection. Black cover with white type. Glancing through it, i was struck by one of the most beautiful brunette woman i had ever seen in my life. And she was semi-nude and nude in several shots having things done to her by one of the ugliest woman i've ever seen in my life (this, i found out later, was Irving's sister...ewww)
She was sexy and innocent and playful and bright and all these things and more just in a few black and white photos. Like the Mona Lisa, she inspires generations later.
Get well soon, Miss Page.

Awwww...well, she lived a long life (although it sounds like the past few years haven't been that great). She certainly will be long-remembered. :frown:

R.I.P., Ms. Page. You made quite a mark on the world.
When I heard on the radio that Bettie had died, I had to turn it off, and driving in the quiet, I teared up a little.
I am normally a bit cynical but hearing that she was gone hit me much harder then I ever would have expected.
Here's hoping that she's dancing with Dave Stevens in the coolest jazz club in Heaven.

Oh man, a sad day. I collected her stuff when I was 17 and met her when I was 19 when I working in a health food store with Dave Stevens. She approached me to place a special order; as per regualtions I had to ask her for the name and number. She said Bettie Page and looked up...and she flashed that smile. Oh man, it was a sight to see.
Beautiful lady, rest in peace.
A song from country band BR-549 (sorry the video is bad but I love this song)

I am just finding this out here... Que la stima. Her photos will always perfectly capture the times she grew up in. I've referred to them in my art before and there just aren't better examples of that genre. I am glad she was able to live so long- wasn't aware that the quality of her later life was apparently poor. That is a real shame. She'll be missed.
