View Full Version : Forest J. Ackerman has died
I'm horrible at posts where someone has died. All I can usually think of is "This sucks." The man was a legend. And a true fan. Everything about him--his personality, his enthusiam, his love of science fiction--will be missed.
This sucks.

Oh man, I heard he was sick. I'm sorry to hear this
RIP Forry, you introduced me to monsters and wonders I would never have discovered otherwise.

In simplest terms, he's the man that created Vampirella.
In not as simplest terms, he is/was the world's leading authority and fan of all things sci-fi.

That is a shame. I had just re-read his book collection 'Ackermanthology!' last month. His passion for the genre and his tales from the early days of sci-fi were highly enjoyable.

Very sad to hear this. I remember fondly trying to get the few issues of Famous Monsters that managed to find themselves in Glasgow in the early 70's. Getting one was like hitting gold & Ackerman's enthusiasm was a complete joy. I've sold on those issues of FM years ago but I wish I hadn't.
He'll be missed.
