Heh, that's the first thing I noticed, too. It's not a new format. They've pulled this stuff before. But the timing right now is VERY poor, indeed.

I think that the main reason why I was so upset is because I had to pre-order (seeing that I get the majority of my books through DCBS) this book sight unseen and can't just drop it from a pull list once I've seen the declassified solicits. Is there a return policy for customers or is that only for retailers?

I also see that Marvel is soliciting the reprints with all new, modern printing. I'm sure that that is part of their justification for the $3.99 pricing. To be honest, I'd much prefer to pay $1.00 for the 8 page story than $4.00 for it as I will more than likely not be reading the reprinted material.

This is similar to the Iron Fist and Nova issues with framing sequences and then reprints of the characters origins.
I also noticed the second X-Men Legacy volume collection only has four issues and 2 reprint stories. I have to save - that is awful. A collection of a story with two old stories that aren't directly a part of the story. But I am paying for them? Yuck.

Maybe they should offer these 8 pages stories as digital comics on their DCU? I bet that would encourage additional subscriptions.

Didn't they do that with the SI Prologue that eventually showed up in the Secret Invasion #1 Director's Cut?

That sounds like what they've been doing in some of the Superman TPBs lately. 3 new issues and 3 silver age reprints for the full price of a TPB. It's a disgrace!

Ooh, gotta love Rich's new column this week. If he's right, Marvel plans on raising the price of its best sellers to $3.99 to keep the rest at $2.99.
Of course, once that sting wears off, those others will go to $3.99, too.
Really, I love comics. But they're a ridiculous little hobby sometimes.

I don't understand why anyone is complaining. While a Kirby cover would have been more appropriate, the Lee and Shooter stories were better than any Avengers story I've read in the past 5 years. This is actually the first Avengers comic I've picked up since Initiative #1, and its BECAUSE of the reprints.
Do people actually think these comics are worth less than something by Bendis or Slott?

PS: I will say that the computer colouring almost ruined the whole thing for me. Please Marvel, stick with the original colour scheme, not your amateur grey-toned smears!

Dollar for dollar, it was a much better value than a lot of the current comics.
