I have been looking about on eBay and I am wondering if it is worth the $ investment to have some of my books CGC graded. I was about to list my X-Men 94 but it looked like only the graded books were being bid on so fearing I would loose my a** on it I didnt list it.
Any advice on CGC grading?
Is there a better alternative to eBay when selling comics?
Thanks.

What grade is your 94? Are you willing to pay $25 or 30, send it off for 3 months or more to be slabbed in plastic and very likely graded far more harshly that you thought it was, in order to finally put it on ebay and be able to say "CGCed"? If you are lucky enough to get a high grade, though, you could make a bucketload more money than if it were raw...
I think if you have perfect and plentiful feedback, very, very large and clear scans of the front and back, and a money-back guarntee, you'll probably do well enough, but that up to you.

Excellent points.
I have not graded a comic in YEARS so I dont really trust my ability anymore. Right now I would say it is between VF and NM but I could not give it a numerical value. I have no need for the book as my interests are elsewhere so I need to sell it.
I have a 100% feedback rating on eBay BTW (700plus).
Is there somewhere better than eBay?
Any personal experience w/CGC grading?
Thanks

Ebay's probably the best place. Why don't you scan it in and post some large, clear scans of the front and back, and we can offer advice on the grade here? If it's truly in NM, a CGC grade might boost the price quite a bit. But it might also come back with a far lower grade than you might expect.
I personally have never had a book graded, but one of my friends has... sometimes he gets lucky and gets a high grade from them, but more often, they judge it rather harshly, and it usually takes at least 2-3 months to get a book back from them, sometimes more. They are very back-logged, it seems.

The guys on the Classic Comics forum might know of alternative places to sell the comic.

Thanks again.
I dont have a scanner nor access to one but I can take digital pics.
Is it possible to post images to this forum or do I have to go through some sort of third party (I'm not very savvy on that sort of thing)?
Can I email the pics if you are good at grading?

Digital pictures are rarely as sharp and clear as a scan, but go ahead and do that if it's the best you've got right now. You may want to buy a scanner (or all-in-one if you don't have a printer either). Realize that you are selling a potentially very valuable book, $750-1000 if it's in the grade you say it is, possibly more. You might want to either borrow a friend's scanner or invest in getting the equipment yourself that will help you to sell it for the most you can get. A low-res or poor picture will cause the price to plummet because buyers will assume there might be flaws they can't see, and thus will only bid as if the book is the lowest possible grade that can be seen in the picture. So, they might say "well, there are no obvious chunks missing, but there may be some creases, tears, or water stains I can see, so I'll bid as if it were VG, not VF-NM, so that if it indeed turns out to be the lower grade (as often happens in online sales), then I won't have wasted my money. If it turns out to actually be VF-NM, I'll have gotten a great deal.
You can attach pictures here, but they have to be pretty small, I think. Sign up at photobucket.com to host larger pictures for free. You'll need it if you'll be selling the book online.
