View Full Version : Beet the Vandel Buster Question
Does anyone know why the manga series just seemed to have stopped? It's been over a year since the last english translation (U.S.) volume was published.

The author, for some reason, put the manga on hiatus for the last two years. He hasn't yet announced when he plans on continuing.

It looks like it's been on hiatus in Japan for awhile, but it's also worth pointing out that not quite a year after it ended, the magazine it was being serialized in, Monthly Shonen Jump, was cancelled.
It was replaced with a new magazine called Jump Square, also monthly, but with mostly all-new titles. Some Monthly Jump series like Kurohime became SJ Japan webcomics, some continued as collections, some moved to the new magazine, some like Claymore moved to Weekly Shonen Jump. No idea how they'd handle Beet if it relaunched- it doesn't appear the author has another series at the moment, so it's possible it just simply ended. Comic series ending without an "ending" is a pretty common thing given the nature of serialization.
If you're really crazy, try tracking down the dvd Illumitoon released of the anime- only the first volume made it out. Hopefully, someonelse can find away to get it out since the dub was completed for a number of episodes...

I read up on Beet and apparently, it's because Koji Inada, who is the illustrator and co-creator of the manga, has been ill since 2006. Since the manga is a collaborative work, it won't be continued until Inada recovers.
Well, at least it wasn't discontinued due to lack of interest.
