George Reeves was great and the first season of that show is excellent. It got pretty silly after a while though, and George was starting to, ahem, fill out so to speak. I do feel his Clark Kent is still the best live action representation, a hard-nosed reporter who had a strong sense of purpose. He was basically a detective, sniffing out the stories with a calm accuracy. Not the more milquetoast movie version, or the petulant child featured on Smallville.

Well, it depends on which comic book. Reeves' Clark Kent has not been given the recognition it deserves. He gave Clark more of a spine than he was allowed to have in many of the comic books. His Clark had an edge to him.

george reeves seemed as close to the mark on the golden age superman, just as christopher reeve was perfect for bronze age supes.

George Reeves was more along the lines of Clark Kent from 1986 through 2002. Even though the character was written to be along the lines of the 1940's comics, his Clark was not as timid and mild mannered as he had become by the end of the 50's. This is all in terms of performence. Appearence wise, early Jon Bogandove circa 1991, through mid to late 1992. His version did have a bit of a George Reeves look to his appearence. Check out Superman: The Man Of Steel #15, I think it was. Clark wears a gray suit and fedora.

Well, said. I've been watching Adventures of Superman on DVD and it's noticeable that George Reeves didn't play Clark as a timid reporter. He was definetly a take charge kind of guy, and he didn't take any crap from Perry White or Lois Lane either! The Clark Kent that appears in the Smallville TV series should take note.

Even though it strays from the comics version, I liked George Reeves take on Clark Kent.
The George Reeves Superman somehow always seemed a little more realistic to me; he was still a boy scout, but he could get pissed off too and George's Superman could even be a little on the scary side.
On a side note, it's a little weird now when you see the episodes that showed Clark Kent smoking.
