I'm not talking about writing eras, but rather time periods in Bruce's life you prefer to read about.

here they are

early years: everything before grayson

grayson era: the time peiod when grayson was robin.

the solo year: The time period before jason todd but after richie,

The Jason Todd/ tim drake era. more or less modern day in story

Potential futures: Basically any story that imagines him at the end of his career, this includes DKR, Kingdom Come, The Earth two story where he marries catwoman, ect.

Personally, I prefer Bruce at the start and end of his career.

What was the time era for Long Halloween? I don't even remember anymore.
But that. That's what I like. The super villains are present and they have more power in Gotham than they let on, but the real "face" of crime in Gotham is still the mob and Batman is usually considered more myth than man.

That would fall in the "Early Years" category.

And I agree with you. I prefer him preRobin

I like the era where Dick was away at college, and occasionally lent Batman a hand or enlisted his help, but wasn't always present as a partner, so to speak (you know, the comics published in the 70s).

I like the era where Dick was away at college, and occasionally lent Batman a hand or enlisted his help, but wasn't always present as a partner, so to speak (you know, the comics published in the 70s).

This is the period I always think of first as it's the time I grew up with, I still love this period(going up to early 80's), Neal Adams, Irv Norvick, Gene Colan and the late, great, underated Don Newton. I did like the stuff when they brought in Jason Todd, still good stories there, but i stopped buying comics so regularly(substituted for computer games) for a couple of years(86-89) when he came in.
There was a great period after they killed Todd and bats was solo again, the Alan Grant/Norm Brayfogle run is pretty much perfect and there were some fantastic stories in Batman, 'Dead Letter Office', 'Many deaths of Batman' etc. Again, I stopped buying regularly for years after that(was buying records instead mainly). after 'Knightfall' actually.
I know you said time in his life, and despite listing artists etc i liked, i look back and see that I've stopped buying not long after a new Robin came in, so maybe there's something to that. I always prefer Bats solo, Robin somehow makes his exploits less believable. i like to believe a guy can do this while reading teh comics, and i get that by thinking of all the years and graft he's put in, if a kid can get by in the same situations after a few months training, my realism dies a little.
