This is finally coming out and I cannot wait. I love Tiny Titans and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna love this too:

I like it a bit more than I would have if Superman and Luthor were ALSO (slightly older) kids. I was dreading that possibility, and am glad they didn't go in that direction.

Bleh, looks like a little boy and not a 13 year old girl. Way to pander to the fembots Jann Jones. I really don't see any middle schooler with half a brain buying into this garbage. When I was in 7th grade I was reading God Loves Man Kills and TDKR... Give kids a bit more credit than this crap... Why not just make supergirl 7 instead of 13 if your target is obviously 3rd graders.

I think she totally looks like a thirteen year old girl.

Not quite an american thirteen year old girl mind you, they are much fatter.

No, but seriously, that hair looks totally chick to me, maybe emoboi, but hey, that's genderbending for you...

{oh, and i laffed my arse off reading that preview, hell i might buy it, do they collect johnny dc in trade form?}

{total mistake if they don't...}

I enjoyed it. I look forward to more. And I actually prefer her costume to the regular Supergirl.

Yeah, where the cleavage and upskirt shots we've all come to know and love?

Because kids like reading about kids older than them?
It also gives you more time with the same audience - kids wouldn't be as interested once they got older than her.
When I was in primary school, the girls all loved The Baby Sitters club, and they were all in their teens, as is Harry Potter and his crew.

I think you're mixing your tastes up with that of the intended audience.

Totally looks like a 13 year old girl. Most of the girls I knew back in Jr. High were scrawny beanpoles. Now, the wonders of the summer between 8th and 9th grade were generous to them. That much is sure. 8th grade & scrawny? Yeah. I buy it. Some of them didn't even grow into their bodies by the 12th grade. It is what it is. Besides, what were you expecting? Power Girl?

It's wholesome fun. Not everything is supposed to be about blood, gore, grit, & t*t. Why not just enjoy it for what it is, a healthy dose of teen angst without the usual OC melodrama. Nothing wrong with a little G-rated fare. Personally, I wish this book was just more than 6 issues.

When I was in 7th grade I was reading God Loves Man Kills and TDKR...
And I read GLMK, Killing Joke, & Watchmen when the first came out too. As a kid, I enjoyed the heck out of that stuff too. Part of me enjoyed it because I knew that it was something my parents probably wouldn't normally let me read. Part of it was because it offered a glimpse of so-called "mature" story telling. I'm all up for that level of depth and characterization. At the same time, I was reading Transformers, Groo, & ALF. Totally opposite end of the spectrum.

Not every movie you watch has to be an actioner or a Oscar contender. A silly teen comedy or a mindless slasher flick can be just as satisfying.

Give kids a bit more credit than this crap... Why not just make supergirl 7 instead of 13 if your target is obviously 3rd graders.
I think that you're missing the point. This isn't just a book you can give to your kids. It's a book that you yourself can enjoy. It's got enough angst and awkwardness with which your kids can identify. It's got enough "I've been there" gags and inside jokes that you, as an adult, can enjoy as much. It works well on two levels. I don't think that it panders to either kids or adults. I'm 34 years old and I enjoyed this book as much as, if not more, than mainstream hits & flops like Final Crisis or Spider-Man Brand New Day.

"Supergirl Cosmic Adventures in the 8th Grade" happily offers deeper characterization and more bang for the buck that Supergirl's own monthly, which has been CTD of late. 8th Grade is tightly written, well drawn, and delivers exactly what it promises. No gaudy cover gimmicks. No shock tactic cliches. No real out of character moments. Just some unadulterated fun that is as unassuming as the newsprint on which it is printed.

Enjoy it for what it is instead of blasting it for what you feel that it should have been. I too hope that it gets extended beyond 6 or even sequel-ized.

That was fun. I love that the Supergirl outfit is a marching band uniform. That's funny.

Y'see, this is how you make Supergirl a complete screw-up and still feel like Supergirl.

I LOVED issue one,and can't wait for more. Talking to Landry Walker only got me even more thrilled!

PFB recently caught up with Landry Walker, creator of LITTLE GLOOMY and KID GRAVITY; and writer of the newest book in DC's all Ages JOHNNY DC line, SUPERGIRL: COSMIC ADVENTURES IN THE 8TH GRADE. Here's what he had to say:
