I don't know if this thread has ever been started, if so I apologize.
But is there a concert/live act you wish you could have witnessed, but are unable to from now on; whether it's due to death, break-up or whatever.
I know the obvious ones are there: Beatles, The Doors, and more... but are there shows yuo regret missing out of, especially ones you had the chance to attend, but are now incapable of taking part of?
Give your answers and elaborate if you wish

For me it would be Jeff Buckley. I love his body of work, short as it is, and would have given my proverbial "left nut" to have seen him perform live. His music elicits an emotional response I rarely exhibit to music anymore & would have gladly traded almost anything to see him perform.

Why does it seem artists who are "nigh heavenly" seem to leave Earth too early?

Probably as many people who thought Bon Scott did.

The Beatles, of course, which is the obvious answer.
I've always been a pretty aggressive concert attender, so there's no real regrets. I did miss the Carcass reunion this past year because I always seemed to be on the other side of the world from whatever shows they were playing, but there's always a chance they'll tour again.
Also, Pop Will Itself broke up before I was really old enough to go to their shows.

Woodstock (I was 2.)
U2 @ Red Rocks.
Carly Simon in Grand Central Station, I saw it on PBS, but I wish I could've been in the station that day. People were just stunned and mesmerized.
Either stadium for Live Aid.
Madonna's tour, pre-"Hard Candy." I really enjoyed what I saw on NBC.
Mercury Rev in Scotland. My parents were there, but I was back in Rochester.
Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Glen Miller and Count Basie live in their prime.
Concerts conducted by Mozart and Beethoven.

This summer I had a chance to see Be Your Own Pet with a friend of mine. Then I read that they were going to be playing with The Black Keys later in the summer, a show I was already planning on seeing. So we were like "okay, cool. Go see them both at the same time." In between those two shows, BYOP anounced they were breaking up and canceled the rest of their USA shows. I almost shat myself.
There are also a handful of other bands that I missed seeing, but they're mostly Brooklyn based and play around in the city often, so I'm not too worried. I just hope none of them break up anytime soon.

Yeah, I was like 4. I really doubt I would have traveled to NY even if I were older, but it would have been great to have been there... especially if you could remember it afterwards.
The Ramones were the first ones to come to mind.
Caught them at Lalapalooza. Way past their prime, but not bad.
Bowie.

Bowie has rarely come to New Orleans in his tours, which pisses me off. The one time he was here was for the Glass Spider tour, which I saw and which sucked. I have been able to catch him twice in Houston (the furthest I'm willing to travel for music), for Serious Moonlight and Sound+Vision.
Recently, I'm kicking myself for missing the Police reunion tour. Tickets were just too expensive for me.

Well I can finally cross off My Bloody Valentine :)
Eno era Roxy Music (heck I'll even take mid 70s Roxy).
At the Drive-In (though I'd probably skip out on a reunion).
Dylan in the 60s.
Radiohead in a decent club venue.

Original line-up GNR...which I guess isn't absolutely impossible, since they are all still alive....but I'd say it's pretty close to impossible to imagine any of those guys working with Axl again. Except maybe Steven.
The Ramones too.
And Sid Vicious Sex Pistols.
And not as into Joy Division anymore, but be pretty cool to see them live as welll.

these are all with their original singers:
Blind melon
Sublime
Alice in Chains - although I did get to see them once, Layne was in a wheel chair the whole show.
Per my previous thread, the original Jane's Addiction lineup that performed a couple of months ago for 300 people.

David Bowie (would've love to take a time machine to a Spiders from Mars-era show)
The Beatles (either in Hamburg or at the rooftop show)
Johnny Cash
The Jam
James Brown (at the Apollo in October 1962)
Curtis Mayfield
Nick Drake
Ideal.

Ol' Bob Christgau mentioned something that stuff of dreams are made of:
Coltrane joined by Eric Dolphy on the encore at the Village Gate I believe in September 1962
I don't think I'd be able to get a grip of myself.

I remember I was going to see Nirvana for the first (and only) time in 1993, but I was grounded and couldn't go. Damn.

Hendrix
ACDC-Bon Scott
Metallica-Cliff Burton
Rage Against the Machine
Alice in Chains came to mind right away.
I wish i could have seen Radiohead before OK Computer came out, but after The Bends when they were still playing future B sides they never play anymore, and the early versions of the OK Computer stuff. Come to think of it, i wish i could see Radiohead at like 4 seperate time periods, and i've already seen them 3 times.
The early Can idea was nice, but i don't imagine them being too wonderful live, i'm still happy we got the rereleases.
Oh, and The Pixies before they broke up the first time.

An Obama benefit concert at the Echo earlier this year. Not really just to see the artists playing, but because Shephard Fairey was signing 100 of his "Hope" posters. I've been kicking myself ever since for not getting off my lazy ass and going, would've been nice to own a piece of history.

My wife and I were originally planning to go to Italy in 2006 with her family, but weren't able to go because she was pregnant and we ended up spending several weeks in the hospital. Metallica happened to be there at the time, and apparently one of her relatives is in a band on the billing.
So I not only missed the show, but also missed out on the chance to meet them backstage.
And this year, I was going to get tickets to Metallica, as they rarely tour Canada, and yep, again, we're pregnant and I wasn't willing to take the chance. Good thing too, as she ended up spending a few days in the hospital this past weekend.

Here is a new one:
BLUR CONFIRM LONDON SHOW IN HYDE PARK 3 JULY 2009
Graham Coxon will join Alex James, Dave Rowntree and Damon Albarn onstage for this first time since their Royal Festival Hall performance in 2000.
It hasn't even happened yet, and I know I still will not be going.

All I want is to see Zebrahead live in concert. However, since they do not sell worth a damn in N. America, they stick to touring Europe, where they sell like a mofo.
Occasionally, they'll throw a gig in N. America, but usually in an area that I cannot get to in time. But I'm always looking and hoping. I WILL see them in concert one day.
