Welcome to
THE SANTA APPRECIATION THREAD!

http://www.marvunapp.com/Appendix/santa.7.gif

In Marvel Holiday Special 1991, there's an X-Men story that takes place immediately before UXM #98. The All-New X-Men are relaxing at home, trimming a Christmas tree, when Cerebro detects the most powerful mutant ever recorded in Manhattan. They go to New York to investigate and run into the new Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, consisting of Unus the Untouchable, the Blob, Toad, and Mastermind, who are also there to recruit the new mutant. The two teams fight until Santa resolves the situation by turning the Brotherhood into action figures. He then tells the X-Men that he can't pick sides because he has his job to worry about, then teleports them to Rockefeller Square, in the process putting them back in their street clothes and erasing their memories of the entire incident, just in time for UXM #98 to begin.

So now you know. Santa Claus is a mutant.

Given the knowledge that Santa is a mutant, it seems only fair that he should be given his own appreciation thread on CBR. After all the hard hard work he does all year round checking who is naughty and who is nice (and making sure he exempts all the little girls and boys whose religious beliefs mean they don't celebrate Christmas - he's thorough) it seems only fair that we reward him with an appreciation thread. Who else will appreciate him, if not X-Men fans?

http://toonsntunes.files.wordpress.com/2007/12/x-men-new-109.jpg
The X-Men love Santa.

Because after all: he makes December the most magical month of all. Apart from April, which is similarly special but not as snowy. Don't come here expecting hate and more hate and perhaps some hate on top of it - only those who appreciate Santa should come here. This is a thread of love and admiration for one of the hardest working mutants there is. He doesn't care about the fact that humans hate his kind - he still does his job every single year. The guy is a hero!

So let's post our favourite pictures of Santa, and discuss his greatest moments! And if you don't think Santa is a mutant, direct yourself to the end of this: Nick Lowe is in the know (http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=17245)

Santa Claus: mutant. Would you like to see him join the X-Men, based on this? Do you think he heard the call from Scott and moved to San Fran? Does Santa even agree with Cyclops' methods?

http://www.marvunapp.com/Appendix/santa.10.gif
This picture suggests that he does.

Come one, come all! To

Santa and I aren't on speaking terms. Whenever I wanna talk to him he tells me to go eat a doughnut or spin a dreidel. That little betch :evilangry:

I'm also pretty sure he once did the horizontal tango with one of the reindeer. I've seen the look on their faces when he comes around. He can keep his gifts to himself, I'm gonna light a Hanukeya!

I didn't think Santa was a mutant. I always thought he was more magical in origin.

However, I was pretty sure that Rudolph was a mutant reindeer. I mean, come on, all the signs are there. Bizarre super ability of unknown origin. Discriminated against by his peers. I bet if Rudolph really tried, he focus the light from his nose into a powerful "nasal blast".

Santa!! Woot. They imply Santa may be a mutant in the Generation X Holiday Special.

Yes, make him join the X-Men; he'd need one night off, but that's not a huge deal.

And lol, Adam, yeah Rudolph is totally a mutant reindeer.

I have reason to believe that Santa may well be a member of Warren and Hank's 'Science Squad' and will be appearing in Uncanny X-Men from now on. This makes sense, although it's sad that he won't be able to appear in X-Force (as Logan's shadowy mentor), X-Factor (as a rival investigator to Madrox) or X-Men Legacy (as Xavier's best friend during childhood).

What are your thoughts on this development, which Matt Fraction totally told me in a text message yesterday?

Imply? Cerebro flat out confirms it in Marvel Holiday Special 1991.

Dave Cockrum drew it, so you know it's in continuity.

Bump!

Santa Vs the illuminati is a touching and festive reminder of how dangerous Santa can be and why he is possibly one of the most powerful beings in comics. It's just a shame that this isn't in continuity.

Are you saying that Tina Fey can't come because she's Jewish?

That's racist.

Also, she's not even a Jew.

Which makes you ignorant.

This makes me think back to the day in 2008, when I asked Nick Lowe (http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=17245), in an X-Position, if because Santa Claus isn't listed as one of "The 198", that it meant the Scarlet Witch took his X-Gene away and killed Christmas.

And the great debate that led to that with Flaneur (that I lost) in this thread (http://forums.comicbookresources.com/showthread.php?t=228164).

Ah, fond memories.
