View Full Version : Obscure Characters - Where are they Now?
Don't know how long a thread asking for such obscure information will last, but I figure it'll work like this: I'll name a character where I want to know what happened to him since his last appearance that I've read, and someone will respond. He who responds gets to name another character, and so on and so forth. I know this is the age of Wikipedia, but sometimes it's not comprehensive enough.
Anyone know what happened to Annex after his mini-series? I always thought he was kinda cool, even if the whole basic concept for him was majorly flawed. (He wants a prosthetic leg and he's willing to wear full body armor all the time to get it?)

Wasn't Annex part of the Initiative? could've sworn I saw him in a panel at Camp Hammond... not sure.
If that's true - POWDERKEG - where has he gone? The guy could've been Nitro instead of Nitro - I always liked the idea of 'explosive kinetic' punches through the Nitroglycerin in his body.

Not only was Annex at Camp Hammond, but isn't that him flying in front of Uatu in Secret Invasion #7?
As far as Powderkeg, I didn't even know I had any comics with him in them until I reread His Marvel U entry. Could have been Nitro, my ass. If your first appearance was a Monica Rambeau One-Shot (Post-Stern/Buscema Avengers, Pre-Nextwave, both of which she was actually cool), the chances of making it as a serious villain are slim at best. Then, as the OHOTMU states, She-Hulk used him as a weapon to stop the Rhino. Bye-bye Pagefiller, I mean Powderkeg.
Which sucks, because the obscure characters, when done right, can become some of the best and most interesting. Quasar. Dr. Druid. Machine Man. Hell, Wolverine was obscure when Cochran got him for X-Men. The one I've always wanted to see developed was The Blue Shield.

I think Blue Shield's appeared in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN lately, hasn't he? I thought I saw his face on a recent BND issue.
He's certainly not Project PEGASUS's resident superhero anymore: that title belongs to Darkhawk now.
.......so whatever happened to the X-Cutioner?

so whatever happened to the X-Cutioner?
i believe he was last seen in gambit (3rd series). he was pursuing gambit but eventually gave up. his armor was later used by the new sun to again hunt down gambit but the new sun died soon afterwards.

if he's shown up anywhere since i can't think of it.

You get to name a character now.

FYI, Blue Shield popped up in the early Brand New Day issues of Amazing Spider-Man as a solo registered hero watching over Manhattan (similar to Jackpot and The Falcon, who also watch over the other NYC neighborhoods).
I miss X-Cutioner.

okay. how about the spider-man character cardiac? i remember thinking that he had a decent look back in the day.
Listed as a potential Initiative recruit.
this i did not know. i'd rather not see him join, personally.

Cardiac was last seen in a story line in Wolverine's book ca. 2000ish, where he was one of the vigilantes that went after what they believed was a rampaging Wolverine (who in reality was possessed by an alien fugitive whom sought to use him as her champion/savior in an underground, galactic prison fighting-ring).
He got owned.
The next time he was mentioned was in the Civil War: Battle Damage Report as a potential Initiative recruit.
I want to know what happened to the Defenders' old pal and housemother, Dolly Donahue? For that matter, where's the Beast's dog Sassafrass?!

i remember that story (erik larsen's, i think) but i don't recall cardiac being in it. guess i'll have to dig out those back issues.
i also didn't pick up the battle damage report thing, which is why i didn't know about him or x-cutioner being listed in it.
thanks, though.
edit: it was wolverine (2nd series) 134; cardiac is even on the cover. my bad.

i wonder how long it will be before the Thunderbolts go after Cardiac. he seems like the type of guy they'd earn brownie points for taking down. he mostly attacks the rich and powerful, right?

I believe she died off panel.
Where's Poison, the Cuban superheroine. Last i saw here was Enemy of the State where she was one of the brainwashed Hydra zombies that Wolverine took down. I've been hoping someone brings her back. She had potential and deserves better than to be used as cannon fodder for Logan to slice up. And I'm not just saying that because I come from a Cuban family.

Was this before or after she ran into Ben Reilly?

For that matter, I'd like to know what happened to Morelle Pharmaceuticals, the mid-90s Spider-Man universal deus ex machina for creating new and disposable villains.
