This thread is to address the Imperial Guard's win/loss record. I for one cannot recall a battle they won off hand. They seem capable enough and have a wide power set within their team, but for some reason, I feel like they are always getting punked.

Gladiator, specifically, is supposed to be this big bad Superman analog, but without even looking anything up, I remember him being beaten by Cannonball, Thunderstrike (as Thor) and the War Skrulls.

Does anyone have any examples on any of the battles these guys won (individually or as a team)?

They smashed the Shiar Phoenix's head in...that's about it.(One of the few things Bru did right) And I'm pretty sure there was an Imperial Guard 3 issue mini which they must have won. They did pretty well when Binary was weakened and Gladiator punched her far far away and then there's Gladiators fight with Hyperion. And didn't Gladiator and co(Silver Surfer, Quasar etc) do well against Tyrant?

Gladiator was able to beat Thor the first round then Thor came back the next.

Also Gladiator has flown threw a planetoid destroying it and then flew 300 times the speed of light.

The Shiar Empire can hold a well fed Galactus at bay for 7 days apparently.

But you're right on paper their powersets are insane. But they do happen to get their asses handed to them quite a bit by lesser beings.

Pretty sure they pwned the x-men in the Dark Phoenix saga finale.

That was because the story needed them to win, otherwise they are pretty much the designated jobbers. Can't have too many of these after all.

It's a term from wrestling: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Job_(professional_wrestling))

It's also used a lot when discussing comic battles. I did not know what it was first either as I hadn't been that much into wrestling. Still isn't.

Hell, they even lost in court during "The Trial of Galactus". You'd think that case would've been open and shut.

While the Shi'ar Death Commandos pwned during "End of Greys", they're not the Imperial Guard. And currently, I'm hoping what I read in the New Exiles #15 preview has no bearing on the 616 version of the team, Ugh.

What's crazy is, upon reviewing both Maximum Security and Operation: Galactic Storm, they won a few skirmishes, and lost a few.

They also helped defend the Earth from the Kree (retributive strikes after OGS) and prevented an assassination on Lilandra by the Kree in an 8 issue limited series they had.

With Vulcan, they manage to capture Havok & the Starjammers at the end of "Emperor Vulcan". That seems to be the extent of their victories.

I was thinking... a mont dedicated to the Imperial guard with a thred profiling every one of them. Now that would be a real challenge...

I was considering doing a month like that for February... but currently I'm a bit burned out.

Ask me in two weeks, we'll see how I'm feeling.

Lol... really? But... but surely you know how hard that would be? they are older than even the Morlocks, and have had a different formation nearly every time they have showed up !! with a lot one-time members... lets forget this quickly, or you will be totally burn out for a group that honestly, does not deserve such an effort...

Yeah, it's pretty extensive. 48 different characters. And that's if you don't start including other agents of the Shi'ar Empire, like the Death Commandos or Cerise and the like.

I am disappointed, because I thought this thread was going to be about their disco comeback album.

How many people spent how much time doing that? It is... impressive...

I hope Mr. Yost chucks in Xenith in the lead up to WoTK

I'd also like to see that Zatanna/White Witch wannabe Magique to actually do something. She should be like a High order Mage.

As well as Onslaught who is the DC Karate Kid equal...

Also Mentor should be uber considering he's Brainiac 5's copy. sigh*

I'm really not sure, but it does lay a pretty good groundwork for a team profile month, research wise.

I would love to see Hussar and her whip turn up in Guardians of the Galaxy, if nothing else.
