He's writing Detective Comics 851 and Batman 684... In a two part storyline called the Last Days of Gotham... Coming out this December...

I've read "Shaman" recently. It's a good tale filled with a good murder mystery that allows for Bruce to show off his detective skills. And it is a nice companion piece to "Year One".

Yup, volume three just came out in trade and I think there are roughly 35-40 issues in his run.
Great story which is easily as good as anything O Neil did during the 60's/70's. There's strong use of Batman's skills as a detective; a funny scene in which Batman has to attract the attention of two security guards; two very strong plots running side by side throughout all five issues; a great final showdown between Batman and...oh wait - make that three very strong plots running side by side; Bruce Wayne as falible but believably so in spite of the strong ramifications of the major mistake he makes; and it sheds a great deal of light on Wayne's training - arguably more than any other story out there.
And this is of course, the first Legends of the Dark Knight arc. I think next to Prey (11-15) this is my favorite LOTDK storyline.

Batman & Green Arrow Poison Tomorrow is a passable O'Neil trade that's cheap and worth buying simply for the weird arse ending. the whole book seems like a rough job he banged together very quickly and then tried to get all hardcore with on the last page, it doesn't really work, but it's funny ha ha
I'm still yet to read Shaman. it's on the list

I thought Shaman was a big dissapointment TBH. Not close to the quality of the better Dennis O'Neil stories

If you want some great Batman reads by Denny, get Son of the Demon, Bride of the Demon and Birth of the Demon. I love all of them.

Of these three stories, only Birth of the Demon was written by Denny O'Neil.
Son of the Demon and Bride of the Demon were written by Mike W. Barr.

I thought Denny O'Neil's Batman storieswere good, but not nearly as good as his Question stories. Get the first three trade paperbacks, reprinting the first 18 or 19 issues. They're really some of the best trades in print.

Also, read the Sword of Azrael and the 15-20 issues. Good stuff. Here's what I find with Denny though, including The Question, Azrael and Batman. Denny writes greast protagonists. He even invents great protagonists: Az and TQ. However, Denny writes some of the worst antagonists I've ever seen or read. From that lame preacher milking city hall in TQ to Nick Scratch, the evil Marilyn Manson rip-off rock star, I shudder. Very down-to-earth, realistic villains. Too down-to-earth and realistic, IMO.

The Question was 36 issues plus 3 annuals. There were also 5 oversized issues of The Question Quarterly. Later, there was an Azrael/Question one-shot. 3 trades have been released to date covering issues 1-18.
I love this series. It's easily my favourite of O'Neill's work.
