My feelings are sort of mixed on this. I've liked the few Carey stories I've read. And like alot of what Carey says about the Juggernaut even better. But up until being kidnapped and temporarily replaced by an imposter a few years back, the Juggernaut had evolved into probably more of a Marvel Universe character than an X-verse one. He operated better in the main MU and his exploits hadn't centered around Xavier for about 30 years or so. I'm wary of seeing him become Xavier-centric again unless something dramatic happens. With the makeshift retcons by Chuck Austen to Cain and Xavier's relationship we aren't exactly sure where they stand at this point. Though they weren't friends the last time they parted and it seems much of Austen's alternate universe is (thankfully)being phased out and/or dismissed. I don't really care all that much whether Cain hates Xavier or not since that has long since ceased being a main aspect of the character. I just want something new and interesting with this plot if they're going to keep going to it. And short of Juggernaut killing or crippling Xavier I'm just not seeing what else can be done.
But having said that, I'm slowly but surely thinking this may be a good issue. The more Carey speaks the more spot on about the Juggernaut he sounds. And the preview images have sparked my curiousity.
When I first approached that story, I thought I knew how it'd turn out, but then I had this idea of "Actually, Juggernaut would probably do this, but then where would the story go?" And the story ended up very different from what I pitched because when I started writing the character, he probably wouldn't go along with Professor Xavier's program."
It's a Cain and Abel dynamic, and it's fascinating for that reason. In Genesis, Cain doesn't kill Abel until after God has rejected him publicly and rubbed his nose in the fact. Similarly, the root of the enmity between Charles Xavier and Cain Marko is the abusive and toxic relationship they both had with Cain's father. I prefer Juggernaut when he's irreconcilable: he's one character who - for me, anyway - works best outside the X-Men's big tent."

So while I'm skeptical about how much tread is left on the tires of the Cain/Xavier relationship, I'm curious to see what's coming in this issue. Carey sounds like he's actually read a Juggernaut story or two and is going to take that into account for his portrayal. That idea's so crazy it just might work...
