Today's haul from mycomicshop.com. All $1-$2.50 except for Ka-Zar #2, which was $3.85

Daredevil #149,151,250
Defenders #25 (completes that series for me)
Invaders #13,14,21,22,24,26,27,34,37,39
Ka-Zar Lord of the Hidden Jungle #2,10 (still need #1)
'Nam #63
Punisher #5,6,10,16 (last of that series I plan to buy)
Supernatural Thrillers #6,7,8,9,11,12 (still need 3 more issues, but this was exciting. Now that I have a good chunk of that run, I can say I have Mummy issues. Get it?)

Thanks for bumping this up. I just grabbed some back issues for today.

Green Arrow #39-#41 (Vol.1): More fun Grell issues.

Secret Origins #50: This final extra sized issue has tons of good stories. Featuring Batman & Robin , Dolphin , Black Canary and Flash of 2 Worlds by Grant Morrison !

Infinity Inc #21: This has the debuts of the new Hourman and female Dr. Midnight.

Warlord #101: Nice cover , haven't read it yet.

Flash #289 (Vol.1): Don't really have the name on it.

Superteam Family Giant #7: Featuring the Teen Titans and the Doom Patrol.

Justice League of America #178 & #198: 198 has a fun cover of all the old DC Western heroes facing the JLA.

OK, I got #80, and I think that was not one of the best Mackie stories, or I read too much of them and i started to be bored... This issue features the death of Crown and (apparently) Morbius (but he doesn't die, I don't remember how or why), and the gang war between Fortunato and Hammerhead.

1961-1990 (excepting the pre-hero stuff), counting trades/masterworks etc.

I need to track down 533 more comics.

I almost have that. I have every major issue of Spider-Man ever and almost all his miniseries and minor appearances.

But that's how I went about it at first. Had a couple titles and kept working backwards. "Now I want every Avengers comic 200 and up and every X-Men starting with 250". Finally I decided I wanted everything.

My 13 year old daughter asked me if I knew the origin for Green Arrow, and I had to admit, I don't. I got the first dozen or so adventures that Jack Kirby drew, but does anyone know where I can brush up on HIS origin? Or is there one?

You know what bothers me? and I know its kind of a rant and this isn't really the place, but I feel like both DC and Marvel (but much more Marvel) is afraid to create storylines that require the reader to be able to read back issues from a long time ago. I know they don't want to alienate readers that have first started to follow comics in the last few years but I wish sometimes that they would have writers comb back issues from the Silver/Bronze age and then come up with plot twists that are related to those issues from long ago. When I was younger that is really what used to make me travel to every comic shop in the state (and sometimes surrounding states) and go to ComicCons just to find an issue that had the details the current plot line was based on (I know most people hated it but this was a great thing about the Clone Saga in Spiderman, you really had to have ASM from the 140's and
150's).

Well ok sorry for my rant but I just wish I had as much motivation (becaause of current plot lines) to go back issue hunting like I used to in the old days.

West Coast Avengers #46: Featuring the 1st appearance of those heroes of awesomeness .... THE GREAT LAKES AVENGERS !

New Mutants #30 & #64: 30 is a Secret Wars crossover. While 64 has the team dealing with the death of Doug Ramsey. Featuring a touching with Warlock.

The New Defenders #130,#133-#134: Haven't read these yet. Can't wait to sit down and read them.

Went shopping out for my birthday at the comic & book shops near NCSU's campus and found a some of the old Chuck Dixon Robins I'd missed out on (most by the late Mike Wieringo). It was #19-22, #26, #31, and #38 & #39.

Most of my reading of that series was a little later on (the 40's and afterwards), but Dixon's Robin was still always a favorite read as a teen.

Robin really lost a lot when Dixon left the series at 100#. I pulled that book for over a decade. Its hard to believe that at one point Dixon wrote 90% of the Bat books of the late 90's. And they were pretty solid...

Uncanny X-Men #178 ,#179, & #183: fills in more holes in my Uncanny collection as I seek to finish my mission and get all of the X-Men.

Daredevil #245 , #252, and #255: 245 has Black Panther i a great guest starring issue as a former subject has fallen into gambling addiction. 252 is a "Fall of the Mutants" tie-in and its a pretty solid read. Haven't read 255 yet.

Hex #12: No clue why I got this...it was in the cheap box so I picked it up.

Justice League of America Annual #2: Featuring the Conway era JLA Detriot.

Powerman & Iron Fist #110: Haven't read it yet. Should be good to chec out.

X-Factor #13: Poor Scott Summers has to deal with his wife leaving him and feelings for Jean Grey. Plus Angel gets told that due to creating X-Factor he may have broken some laws.

New Mutants #65,#71, & #72: The New Mutants issues of 71-72 deal with Inferno as that shakes up the X-Universe.

New Defenders #131,#132, #135-#137: Found these for cheap as well....

Recently picked up a few issues:

Captain America #357-362. The Bloodstone Hunt issues. I've read just over half of it, and so far so good. More Gru/Dwyer goodness.

Peter Parker, Spider-Man #98. The final issue before the Mackie/Byrne reboot. Fairly horrible, but I was in a Spidey mood.

Also was given a random assortment of comics by a friend for Christmas:

Guardians of the Galaxy #30. I have no idea what's going on here, but it's amusing enough. Is this Marvel's version of LSH?

Venom: The Madness #2. Ann Nocenti & Kelley Jones. Totally gratuitous, particularly page 16.

Batman #496 and Detective Comics #665. Parts 9 and 16 of Knightfall respectively. These were actually pretty interesting when taken from a historical perspective. I would have hated being a Batman fan at the time, but it sure is interesting watching go further and further.

Knightfall is a really good series. It showed Bruce pushing himself beyond what he should have. And he paid a price for doing it. Now yes Knightfall,Knightquest, and Knightsend lasted way ...way too long. But I gotta say.....Knightfall was good and one of the best Bat storylines of the 1990's.

Heres the list:

Camelot 3000 #1 (of 12) : This was DC's 1st Direct miniseries distributed by DC. I found the 1 issue of it to read.

Kazar : The Savage #22: Has a great cover with Shanna .

Omega the Unknown #10: The classic 1970's series by Steve Gerber. This is the final issue from the 1970's.

Marvel Age #123: This issue promotes the short lived "Thunderstrike" series and something about Spiderman.

Avengers #291, 363, 368
Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes #5
Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes II #1-3, 6-8
Avengers: The Initiative #4-6
Daredevil Vol. 2 #89-96
Flash Vol. 2 #204, 212-213
House of M: Avengers #1-3
New Mutants Vol. 1 #1-3
Planetary #24-25

In 356 we get the storyline where Tom DeFalco takes a shit on the Johnny Storm/Alicia Masters marriage. If fans thought OMD was just bad , Imagine being the EIC of Marvel and writing this !

Spiderman #19: Eric Larson drew this great cover . Its part #2 of the Revenge of the Sinister Six storyline.

Superman #25 (Vol.2) : Another great cover. This one hints that Superman may have hurt Lois Lane !

The Eternals #10 & #16 (vOL.1): Saw these for cheap and I know Kirby worked on these at one time. So I picked em up.

Powerman & Iron Fist #75 & #114: Getting some cheap Powerman & Iron Fist fun.

Superman #299: Has a great cover with the heading...which of the 9 Deadliest Villains did this to Superman ?

New Mutants #76: Haven't looked yet....but it features the New Mutants fighting a giant Octopus.

Comic convention in San Francisco. But the pickings were slim.

I bought the Punisher: Assassin's Guild graphic novel then went through one booths dollar bins and found

Captain America #159 (need 12 more Cap comics)
Punisher War Journal #7 (need 2 more Punisher comics)
Shogun Warriors #3,7,8,9,10,13,14,15,17,18,19

The day after learning of Steve Gerber's death, I decided to go out and get the first issue of Hard Time.

I did the same sort of thing. The shop got in some new back issues and I picked up Howard the Duck #6-10. It was awesome. I'd never read Howard before.

Also managed to get a Captain America annual and the Avengers annual that's part of the Warlock story. Spectacular Spider-Man #200 as well, with the death of Harry. Excellent issue.

Spectacular 200 is a great comic. Have you read 189, Gus? The one with the hologram cover. Great Harry story, perhaps the best.

Anyways, here's what I got on Saturday at Wondercon. I found a booth with a good selection, though not pricing I liked. One of those booths where everythings discounted 50% after being marked up 250%. But I found the following in the $2-3 range, which is acceptable, as they did have a good selection and lots of stuff I needed. They had way more comics I needed, but well above my threshold for the most part.

Detective Comics #525,554 (just beginning to work backwards with Batman; I have a solid collection of post-crisis stuff, but hear I'm yet to read most of his best stuff)
Captain America #153 (11 more needed)
Thor annual 6
Fantastic Four #162,167 (12 more needed)
Incredible Hulk #163,200 (still need 30 of those, plus most of the Rampaging Hulk magazine series; sigh. Oh and Issue 200 was actually $3.50; I'm weak and splurged a bit)
Adventure into Fear #25
Daredevil #102,107,108,111,127,128 (15 more needed)
Ghost Rider #31,36,38,49,56,58,63,65,66,67 (need 10 more)
Invaders #3,4 (6 more needed)
Giant-Size Man-Thing #5 (still need the 3rd issue of that series with the cool name)
Marvel Chillers #6 (Done with that series now; yay! Though I paid $4 to be so)
Marvel Premiere #29 (Mistake!!! Looked too quickly at my list; I need 28 of this series and issue 29 of Marvel Spotlight; D'oh!)
Marvel Spotlight #1,28 (I paid $5 and $3.50 for these respectively, but now I only need one more issue of the series, number 29)
Power Man #39 (2 issues to go)
Punisher War Journal #1. (Punisher Classic and a few graphic novels are all I still need of that character)
Red Wolf #3 (need 3 more issues; finding issues of this series tends to be a rare occurence)
Supernatural Thrillers #13 (still need 2 issues)
Werewolf by Night #38 (still need 11 issues)

Need 463 more Marvel comics, then I can sit down and read 1961-1990.

Biggest problems at the moment are the magazines, of which I need 132, and I never find for very cheap, and Night Nurse, which people seem to think every issue of should cost at least $20 for some reason. Sub-Mariner is also an issue as they won't give him an essential, and there's presently only one Masterworks (though I think the second is coming). So I still need about 40 Namor comics.

Thats awesome Coke. I know I've followed your tale of getting the Marvel Universe as a whole from 1961 to 1990. I told a pal of mine and he wanted to know if you had a Myspace. He's a big collector (bigger than me ...huge Incredible Hulk fan) and I told him of your mission. I made a mistake and thought you wanted Marvels from 1966 or 1968 to 1990. But I screwed up on the numbers sorry to say.

Spectacular 200 is a great comic. Have you read 189, Gus? The one with the hologram cover. Great Harry story, perhaps the best.

I've never read #189, but it sounds like the one that sets up #200. I'd love to find that some time.

Not one that I've recently found, but certainly a worthy hunt...

Usagi Yojimbo #96

I've heard absolutely nothing about this comic, save that it's the first part of a two-part story. The end chapter was pretty good, but it's other facts than that that make this particular comic a must-have for me. Ever since October 19 of last year, it's the only comic in a series from #89-109 that I don't have.

So far, the hunt's taken place across Missouri, from Columbia to Jefferson City. Even St. Louis doesn't have this particular issue. When on vacation in Houston, my grandma got my cousin to drive her around to a few comic stores to no avail.

I know that I can get this comic online, but what's the fun in that? Besides, if I don't find it at the upcoming Planet Comic-con in Kansas City, I may very well have to order it online.

Batman #434, #437 , #554, #555, #557,#558: These plug in some holes I have in my Batman collection. I have 2 more issues and I should have a run from 489-592 clear. Then some holes in there.

Green Lantern/Green Arrow #1: From 1983 this is part of the reprints of the classic GL/GA teamups in the 1970's. Plus we get a good introduction by Denny O'Neil as well.

The Defenders #65,#107,#110-#111: Snagged these....I did like the cover to 107 .

Flash #88 (Vol.2) : Another hole in my Flash run. I'm working my way slowly back on it.

Detective Comics 627#: This marks the 600th appearance of Batman in Detective ! Its an 80 page book with 2 or 3 old stories mixed in.

Thunderbolts #49: For those who have dropped in , the Thunderbolts series was one of the best reads ever. And it didn't miss a beat after Kurt Busiek left and Fabian Nicieza came on. This issue has Scourge revealed as ..... JACK MONROE ! Last seen in the end of Nomad frozen , Monroe is awoken as Scourge and sent to kill the Thunderbolts.

Starman #38 (Vol.2): This is the issue where the 2nd Mist who was insane kills the new Justice League Europe. She ends up killing Crimson Fox , Amazing Man and Blue Devil...in quick fashion.

Justice League of America #197 & #243: 197 has the final showdown of the Secret Society of Supervillians ! 243 has the new Detriot team facing Amazo !

New Warriors #36 & #39: Justice is in jail in 36. He manages to help stop a prison riot by talking both sides to listen to what is needed. 39 has the team facing the heroes losing loved ones , handling the grief involved and all. We see a quick reunion of Namorita and Nova...

Iron Man #200: Tony Stark faces Obidah Stone for control over his company. Pretty shocking conclusion.

Darkhawk #1: It was cheap and hell...I like getting 1# issues...even those people make jokes about now.

Hawkman #7 (Vol.3 or 4 ): The last series ...and odds are most successful one. Picked this up for cheap.

Heroes for Hire #2 (Vol.1) : The Ostrander series was fun. Its a shame it didn't last long in the late 90's. This one has Black Knight learning something about himself and the team faces Nitro.

Legion of Superheroes #246,#269,#272,#277,#282: Snagged these cheap...I am a fan of the old LSH so I thought I'd get some cheap back issues.

Powerman #108 & #115: These fill in holes I had in my Powerman and Iron Fist back issues....

Some of those Defenders are part of Dematteis' run, which is one of my all-time favourite Marvel runs.

The Green Arrow/Green Lantern stuff is awesome. I have the hardcover collection they'd put out a while back.

Is that a Waid issue of Flash? I need to read that stuff some time.

Well, that's pretty much it for my Hitman hunt. Over these last weeks, I've found and read the remaining issues of the book (#50-60).

Defenders: #86: This one has a fun cover and I found it for cheap.

Legion of Superheroes #1 (Vol.3): This issue relaunched the LSH with the 5 Years Later storyline. In it the Legion was fucked over by the Earth Gov and its corrupt government. Nice read....but ya kinda knew this was really scraping to get things back on track Post Crisis.

Deathstroke #1: DC's favorite mercenary for hire gets his own series. Launched at a time when the Titans were going thru a big story-arc...this book lasted a few years at DC.

Dazzler #1: Dazzler 1 has everyones favorite singer run into Spiderman , discuss her origin in a flashback and has appearances from the X-Men and the Enchantress.

Vigilante #50: I recommend this one. Its a very gripping issue as Adrian Chase is pretty much on his last rope. He misses his wife and children and goes on a death run , wanting to die....pushing himself to die ! But he won't go thru with it. He accidently shoots an innocent cop and realizes... HE HIMSELF HAS BECAME A MONSTER.

So he gets in the bathroom. He knows whats gotta be done. He cocks the hammer back on his gun ....and well....you all know how that goes. It was one hell of an end to a series.

Fantastic Four #286: This is part of the lead into X-Factor where Jean Grey returned to the Marvel Universe after a few years away.

Daredevil #202 & #288: 202 is assistant editors month while 288 has a good Bullseye and Kingpin cover.

Uncanny X-Men #168 & #222: Both are great covers and both were found for cheap. I'm very damn well pleased to find this Wolverine/Sabertooth issue. It was always in my HUNT list. And scoring a cheap issue of it brings my X-Men run to be ...

165-171,173-174,178-192,195-200,202-204,206-210,212,214-265,269-current.

I'm at least 11 issues away from a run from 165-current. I'm so gonna get those at some point. Its hard work...but I'll find em for cheap...I hope I can.

I'm about halfway there. I've got the five trades that are out, and everything after that.

Been picking up random issues from the first half of the series.

I found the Superman issue, while I was in Atlanta. It had a greasy thumbprint smear that took off some of the ink on the cover. But besides that, it's perfect. It's also the only copy I have ever seen. Three bucks. I found it next to a sweet copy of "Coffin Full of Dollars".

I recently picked up a few issues:

Spectacular Spider-Man #189, 212-214, 224. The first one is DeMatteis greatness that Chris has been raving about. It's really very good. #213-214 are a Typhoid Mary story by Ann Nocenti that further splinters the villains personalities.
Amazing Spider-Man #389-390. More DeMatteis. Surprising how everything comes back to Harry.
Spider-Man #47-48, 50. The son of Kraven appears and some other business about Macendale and Demogoblin that wasn't as great.
Captain America #453-454. The last two issues before Heroes Reborn. Not amazing but pretty good.
West Coast Avengers #101. Bloodlines part three. Lots of fighting.

Also plugged some holes in the Clone Saga. Greatest Responsibility, some early Sensational, Media Blizzard, Web of Carnage. Not expecting it all to be great but there should be good pieces.

Marvel Team-Up is the place to begin.

But be careful. Tiring of reading things backward leads to a slippery slope...

It happened to me with X-Men. I collected back to 250. Then to 200. Then I said screw it and started with Giant-Size X-Men #1. Ditto Spider-Man. Was going backward and backward until finally I decided I'd stop reading Spider-Man til I had every comic and could start from #1. Be warned...

Thanks and yes....Morrison's "Animal Man" and "Doom Patrol" should be essential reading. The issues I've found have been cheap and easy. DP is one of the wildest , funniest books I've ever read. I loved seeing the interply with Crazy Jane and Robot Man. After reading Grant's beautiful DP series ya gotta wonder who allowed writers to relaunch the Doom Patrol and not wanna accept this. (thats changed now...after Infinite Crisis from what I read)

Todays back Issue finds...

Doom Patrol #31-32 & #46: 31-32 feature a great story-arc and twists some very horrific wild shit. Read it while your high...HA HA. Great work by Morrison. 46 pretty much steals my heart with such a beautiful cover. I pretty much bow down to the artist who did that cover since once I saw it in the store I was in love.

At todays small convention I was hunting for some comics. I pretty much saw some good buys and scored a couple good issues I needed . I also kicked my Constantine run with a BANG ! Get it...Bang....huh....ok no then. Onto the reads.

John Constantine : Hellblazer #3 ,#9-#11,#13,#63,#97,#106-#107,#109,#111,#127,#152,#157,#161, & #180: These were all in the 50 cent box and I raided em. Someone at the show had a Hellblazer #1 but it was outta the range of my CHEAP BASTARD rates...and they wanted $8.00 for it. I'll find it later.

Action Comics #583: Found this gem in the $1 box. It was there all alone calling me. I have 423 and I knew I needed this one to complete this great 2 part Alan Moore tale.

Legion of Superheroes #293: Featuring a great cover by the way. The LSH all leaning against the falling LSH banner trying to hold it back from falling !

Justice League International Annual #2: Awesome fun read as Giffen tackles the Joker. It just seems natural that the Clown Prince would show up in his run. And in this one shot the Joker gets the job to kill the League and along the way Scott Free and Big Barda tackle trying to hold a friendly fun barbecue ! MESSAGE TO DAN DIDIO....PLEASE FOR GODS SAKE READ THIS COMIC AND SEE WHY WE CARED MORE THEN.

Justice League International #6: The League (and CREEPER ....aaawweeesssoome) faces the Grey Man who has the Manhunter and Captain Marvel.

X-Men vs the Avengers #1-#2: From 1987....only found 2 parts of this 4 part mini-series.

Preacher : The Story of You Know Who : Twisted and sick fun by Garth Ennis ....it hs the origin of Arseface.

X-Factor #23-#24 (Vol.2): 2 parts of the "Endangered Species" arc leading into MESSIAH COMPLEX.

Uncanny X-Men #175 & #193: Fills in 2 parts of my Uncanny spots. So my run is slowly nearing its completion.

Green Arrow #5 & #7 (Vol.2): Remember when Green Arrow was a decent read at least ? Well for Kevin Smith's run it was decent and seeing Batman and Spoiler play doctor on Ollie's body and then watching the Hal and Ollie reunion in 7 is great !

The interplay in Heaven with Bland and the Phantom Stranger was pretty cool.

I, too, went to a con recently (April 5) and my own hunting came up with some pretty good finds. All a quarter each unless otherwise marked. The guy with the quarter booth remarked that he made more selling the back issues for really cheap than he did at list price. With me spending ~$15 dollars there and some other people having bills in the $40's, I'm inclined to believe him.

Amazing Spider-Man: 531 ($2.99), 550, 554, 555 ($2.00 each)

Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man (Didn't get at the con, but got at my LCS when buying more supplies due to the con...): 21, 23, Annual 1

Groo the Wanderer: 66, 92

House of M: 1-7; Decimation: The Day After

Invincible Iron-Man (2005): 15, 16

New X-Men: 114 for a buck

PS238: #1

Punisher (1987): #1 ($1.00)

Punisher (2004): 4, 43

Sensational Spider-Man: #29, 30, 41, Annual 1

Space Usagi: vol. 1 #1

Samurai: Heaven and Earth vol. 1 #4.

Ultimate Spider-Man: 93, 94, 99.

The Ultimates: #6. vol. 2: #4, 5

Ultimate Marvel Team Up #5

Usagi Yojimbo vol. 3: #78, 82, 87 ($1.00 each), #96  ($3.50 :frown: ). These finds give me a straight run of vol. 3 from #87-110. Not much, but the hunt for 96 was annoying.

Wolverine vol. 3: #37

Now, for the Star Wars comics....

Clone Wars Adventures FCBD ($1.00)

Empire: #16, 20, 30, 31, 33, 34.

General Grievous: 2-4...

Republic: #42, 46-51.

Tales: #5, 15.

I was visiting my grand folks for the week and today I walked into this old Pharmacy/antique store. It was pretty ancient. The lady told me they had some books in a box as I flipped thru and saw nothing good. Then I saw one of those bags with group of books in there for a price.

In the bag was the following comics...

Josie & the Pussycats #38(Vol.1) : Dated from 1968.

Jughead #192 (Vol.1): From 1971.

Hanna Barbara TV Stars #1-#2: Produced by Marvel Comics this series has Captain Caveman and all !

Frontline Combat #2: These are the reprints that Gemstone did of the EC Comics from the 1950's.

Of course I'm not a big Archie fan or cartoon fan to get the Marvel book...its what I saw next that made me get it ....

New Teen Titans #2 (Vol.1) This ones a real back issue find for me. Theres one small nick on the cover but otherwise the comic is in great shape. It features the 1st appearance of Trigan and Deathstroke. I was like....shhhhhiiittt yeah.

It was 5 bucks for these 6 books. So I paid pretty quick to buy em.

I just got all for cheap like a $1 a piece... Half Priced Books just bought a huge comic collection and the manager let me look through it and pick out any comic I wanted:

NYX # 3
Amazing Spidey Vol 2 # 36
Wolverine Origin 1-6
Sandman 1-5
V for Vendetta 1-10

I picked a bunch of others too... but these were the highlights! All the comics were in VF/NM condition!

I recently went to a large "by invitation only" dollar sale and picked up about 80 books.

Highlights:
about 40 issues of Spectacular spider-man from issues 26-100 (they even had the Frank Miller drawn DD appearance, but I already have it)

Justice Leagues 2: Justice League of Amazon - This completes the mini for me, but I have to say that except for the cover the art just rubbed me the wrong way.

Justice League Quarterly - 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, (This completes my Giffen/Dematties era of the League)

Not really back issues, but I"m happy I found them anyway:
Recently at my local Half Price books I found a complete run of the original Tales of the Jedi trades, including Redemption.

At this antique store a guy was selling a grab back of back issue books for like a quarter a piece in a grab bag. I nailed down some awesome shit. Some great Back Issues.....

Soldier-X #1-#4: This relaunch of Cable didn't last long. But I scored the 1st 4 issues of it. From 2002.

Caper #1-#4: I've been really rough on Judd Winick for awhile. I feel he's not good on established characters and resorts to over the line sexual situations , horrible dialogue and mangles the characters to fit things. But in CAPER he creates to 2 Jewish hitmen brothers in the turn of the century San Francisco . And it works...its a 12 part mini-series but the 4 issues were pretty good thus far.

Preacher #54: This was a cover choice on a buy. I loved the cover enough to buy it.

Thor #357: A split cover of Thor and Beta Ray Bull !

Avengers West Coast #67: With the whole "Hank is a Skrull" thing going on this is a weird issue to see. Was the retcon of him go back this far ?

Challengers of the Unknown #1: Is the 1997-1998 series from DC.

The Name of Magic #1: Tim Hunter's special mini-series from 2001. This one is him at 15.

Conan the Barbarian #103: Conan faces the Vampire leader of the Drelleks. Pretty awesome ...

Superteam Family #11 & #13: From the mid 70's and starring the Atom !

Animal Man #38 , #49,#68, & #86: Some fun Animal Man issues.

Sebastian O #1 & #3: Saw Grant Morrison's name and thought....he's FUCKING GRANT MORRISON !. So it was a buy on his name alone.

Uncanny X-Men #151: Is Kitty looking to leave the X-Men ?

Doom Patrol #74: Nice cover...

Captain America #309, #344 & #356: Saw these issues and decided to grab em...

Brave and the Bold #192: Has a teamup with Superboy !

Sucide Squad #62: Has the Atom on the cover....

end of part 1....

New X-Men 8,9,12-15,20,21,23,25-30,32,33,35-37,39. I thought I already had 38 and didn't get it...
Fantastic Four 536,537
Winter Soldier: Winter Kills
Punisher War Journal (2006) 1,2
Ultimate Spider-Man 97,98,101,102,110
Astonishing X-Men 21
Sensational Spider-Man 34

Got a bunch of Marvel Legends reprints at another garage sale earlier, Uncanny X-Men, Incredible Hulk, Astonishing X-Men, as well as original X-Men Classic issues.

I also found Vol. 1 of the Archive Edition of Batman for $2, and it's near mint. Same with The Best of Marvel Comics HC vol. 1.

In todays fun back issue finds....

Doom Patrol #9,#13,#51 and #53.: This was before the genuis Morrison revamp. DP was a generic super hero book here and had members like Negative Woman , Rhea Jones and all. In 13 ...Negative Woman goes ape shit on Larry Trainer and beats him up. Powergirl guest stars.

51 and 53 are the Morrison issues....and are pretty fun to read. 51 has Yankee Doodle...

Marc Spector : Moon Night #1-#14 (Vol.1): Got these for a good price. Its the 1989-1994 series and I haven't read it yet. Has Spiderman and the Punisher as guest stars.

Animal Man #26: In this we see the end of Grant Morrison's genuis run. Included is him meeting Buddy Baker. Perhaps one of the best orginal type stories of that time. Where Morrison details to Baker that as the departing writer what he's done to him and his family. Its a very nice tale...and I recommend it for everyone here.

Sgt Rock #400: Rock gets flushed into a cave where he has to struggle to make it as he details on how some of Easy Company's soldiers roughed some hard fought battles to live.

Avengers #221: Avengers shakeup time. This cover is mocked by some as Bendis wanting nearly everyone from it HA.

Detective Comics #836: Batman vs a video game villain at Arkham !

Isis #1: Isis #1 from DC back in the 1970's.....

Superman's Pal : Jimmy Olsen #156-#158: Got these 3 issues in a roll.

Got home from work this evening, and what do you think was waiting on my porch for lil' ol' me? Why, the package with my latest MHC funnybook orders! There was Starman #36 (Robinson's; the "Times Past" with Will Payton), Supreme: The Return #3 (the Liefeld cover, when I asked for the Matt Smith one; a WTF, but only a minor WTF), and-- this is the biggie: Issue #34 of Hitman! See, I was tooling around at their site last week, and pretty much just for the hell of it, I checked the Hitman entry for #34 and this time, there it was! Apparently Mile High had gotten some in between then and my last check; I-- wisely-- seized my moment of good fortune (and it seems I wasn't the only one, as the supply now seems to have gone buh-bye once again), and it's paid off. Go, me!

There. *NOW* my Hitman search is done.

Yep , Its been far too long since we had a thread where we could talk about our "Back Issue hunting" stories.Or what key Back Issues we scored?

So as usual I'll start my Back Issue hunting journey and It concerns my hunt to get Uncanny X-Men Issues for cheap!Recently I landed a pretty good haul slowly.Heres a list of my Issues I had...and the ones added In bold.

Uncanny X-Men: 142,144,148,153,173,180-181,184-185,203,210,223-240,243,244,245-247249-250,251-252,253-255,256-258 ,259-265,269-276,280-282,283-284, 286-290,291, 292-294,296,297-309,310-313,316,318-319,320,321,322-current!

Its my slow building holy grail. This past year , thats the Issues I've found and added that are cheap and easy to afford.I found them all In a shop and I'm still going on this.Odds are I'll snag 194-198 (a little worn),278-279,and 314-315,317 to lock up my run from 300 straight to 450#.

So come on...whats your current back Issue fun? What Issues have you added to a run of DC,Marvel or Indie book?

In the 4 years since this thread has started my run has basically broken down to a run of....

164-175,177-200,202-204,206-211,213-265,267-current.

So now im needing 5 comics and I'll have a run from 164-current. One day I shall achieve it....and I shall do it by my cheap bastard ways !

Marvel Universe 1961-1990 remains the goal. 364 issues to go, a third of which are those magazine format comics I find hard to come by cheap enough.

Here's what I got at San Diego Con Day 1. $300 for these 109 comics:

Captain America #149,150,157 (need 9 more Cap comics)

back issue hunting is like used car buying. you have to act like you aren't really interested in the comics and the purchase is more like a maybe. one time when i was desperate for a comic, i brought it to the counter but had to go get some money. i guess the owner decided it was worth more at that point and was charging $5 more. :evilangry:

> Flash (Waid) #62, 64-87. Heard good things. I've read the Return of Barry Allen so I've got a good idea.
> Flash (Johns) #202-204.
> Avengers #218-219, 222-226, 229, 235, 235, 237-238, 240, 369. Vol. 3 #57-61, 64. Filling in gaps.
> Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes #1-2.
> Captain America #311-322, 331, 355-356, 368-371. Now all I'm missing between 310 and 371 is #333, where Steve loses the job.
> Uncanny X-Men #278. Also Essential X-Men Vol. 6 with #199-213 and other stuff.
> X-Factor #84.
> Iron Man Vol. 3 #85-87.
> Kick-Ass #3
> Immortal Iron Fist #7-17 plus Orson Randall and the Green Mist of Death. Awesome stuff.

back issue hunting is like used car buying. you have to act like you aren't really interested in the comics and the purchase is more like a maybe. one time when i was desperate for a comic, i brought it to the counter but had to go get some money. i guess the owner decided it was worth more at that point and was charging $5 more. :evilangry:

I had that happen and left the guy and his books. Sorry asshole...you gonna do a markup on whats priced...its not gonna happen to me. I usually will wait and find a back issue for my CHEAP BASTARD RATES...

I still need Marvel Premiere #28 to complete the run. Now I know who to beat at conventions...

Devil Dinosaur's an excellent score too. I think I found a run #2-9 really cheap once, then bought myself #1.

Well, I got my Marvel Premiere 28 so you won't have to worry about me though next time out.

The Devil Dinosaur was a sweet find in the 50% off silver/bronze age books at one dealer and they are all in VF shape so I even though not on my hunting list, it was too good a deal to pass up

Avengers 503 was my first issue. Weird jumping-on point but it's a good issue.

Are those Morrison and Carey issues of X-Men? I like those runs.

I got Avengers 503 rather than the many other issues of the series the guy had because I recognized the cover from a sig graphic that someone had on another site.

Yes, the X-Men are from the Morrison and Carey runs. I really liked the Morrison run on X-Men, probably because those were my first issues of X-Men.
