This sounds so bad that it is awesome. Kinda like Miller/MacFarlane Spawn/Batman...:D
Dude....you don't even wanna know how bad this sucked. I could tell you nightmares with this story and art. Whats scary is Hex managed to make Kurt Giffen look bad. And how could this happen ?
The story features some aliens taking over the Earth named the XGGS in that future. Hex and the art is so bad...you really can't tell what the hell is happening! At the end Hex begs the alien escapee who is going back to that time era to let him take his time crystal to go back to the 1800's. The alien refuses ( cleary wanting to torture readers for one more damn issue ) and goies back to his era to die...I guess.
Damn horrible...at the end the Editor annouces the books cancellation next issue. Hex got some justice.

A comic that beats Spawn/Batman II in crappiness. I would never have thought of the day...

I will now be on the lookout for this comic. I want to read teh suckiness of this issue.

Tales of the Legion of Superheroes #324: Great issue as the Legion members arrive as a few think Dev-Em was behind the destruction on this planet. Unknown to them however its something else.
Good issue by Paul Levitz ( currently writing an arc in JSA) and a nice cover by Dan Jurgans.
The Adventures of Barry Ween: Boy Genuis #1 of ( 6) : This book is called Monkey tales and I only got it after hearing how good Winick was on this series by Oni. Its a great read as this big monkey from another world needs help escaping back to his world.
Ween agrees to help him relunctantly. This was a great introduction to the series for me and it all happening in 1 issue was sweet. I gotta give Winick props for this . Yeah I trash him over his Outsiders and Green Arrow daily..but this was a joy to read.
The Adventures of Barry Ween : Boy Genuis #2.0 of ( 3) : This ones a fun Western trip as Barry and his friend get stuck in the old west. It was a fun issue full of good comedy and I loved the scene with the miner " Whats a Gap , Whats a Levi's ? " as Ween finally shoots him with a stun gun.
Killraven #1 : This was the Marvel Knights book from 2000. Nice cover by Joe Linsner. I haven't read this one yet.
Power of the Atom #16: Now this was a fun read. Ray Palmer struggles to come to grips with his friends being in danger since his secret ID is no longer a secret. He decides to take the CIA's offer and wants a new identity.
Meanwhile Ricki ( I guess Palmer's new short term love interest in this series) gets kidnapped by ex-CIA guys. Palmer finds out and finds out a team has been spying on him as well. He saves Ricki but at the end its revealed....the CIA ( and the guy Palmer was about to take a job under) was behind the burning of the Amazon forest where Palmer went ( years earlier: See Sword of the Atom) ! And where his alien princess was killed . To say Palmer is angry isn't a good thing. ;)

In todays back issue Buys I found these issues...
Generation X #19: In this issue we see a slight tie-in with Onslaught. Its a great issue Bachalo and Lobell do as Emma Frost under a mind glitch due to herself , hides the children away. Its a funny issue and classic.
Batman & the Outsiders #27 & #28: The team has to stop Cobra in 27 as he has a satiliate threatening Earth for a ransom. Also in 27 it features a preview of " M.A.S.K " , the cartoon series that aired in the mid 80's. DC would produce a short lived comic series .
Powerman #49: Great issue as Powerman takes on Bushmaster who had threatened Cage's friends and forced him to battle Iron Fist!
Powerman & Iron Fist #123 : Great cover as Cage looks at you and warns " All right , Now its gonna get Ugly! "
New Teen Titans #22 : Features the continuation of the teams 1st battle with Brother Blood !
DC Comics Presents #63 I believe this is the last appearance of Amethyst in the DCU.
Sucide Squad #1 ( Vol.1) : This is the issue I always wanted to get Sucide Squad from the Ostrander version. I'm happy I found this. :D

I found some more holes in my back issue Avengers collection so I plugged those in.
Avengers #349,#367#,#373, and #376: I now have a mini-Avengers run from 337-354 complete. I'm workin on the fill ins after this however.
Justice League of America #232 : Great cover as it guest stars the JSA ! Its a year before Crisis though...and I believe its the last JSA/JLA teamup though. I'm sure I could be wrong though.
Superman #413: This has a great cover as Superman is facing his toughest battle against Lex Luthor . This time Luthor has inserted poles into the ground around Metropolis to hassle the Man of Steel.
SUPERECWFAN1

Powerman #47 : Great cover as Cage is battleing Holocaust as he holds him at his mercy !
Powerman & Iron Fist #122 : Nice cover as it says " Somethings happening to Luke...something horrible ! "
Legion of Superheroes #302 & #312 : : Both are great looking covers. In 302 , Lightening Lad faces Lightening Lord and in 312 , we see Sunboy and another LSH member behind a Science Policeman as he holds out a futureistic warrent tellin someone on the cover " Your under arrest ! "

In todays back issue finds....
The Adventures of Superman #466: This features the debut of the Cyborg Superman for those interested. Hank Henshaw and his sad begotten family slowly seem to die due to radiation poisoning.
Justice League International Annual #3: Now this issue has the fun of KooeyKooeyKooey and how they want the JLI and its Embassy. The team is busy traveling to each locale and its just a funny issue the whole way. Nice cover of Booster and Beetle with Ice & Tora.
Justice League of America #42 & #91 : Its a membership drive issue as the Justice League America under Giffen are trying to find a powerful member since Mr.Miracle is supposedly dead ( he returns that issue as its revealed he was on an Outer Space tour.) . The team has funny issues with Guy Gardner trying to beat down the Will Payton " Starman " and them trying to recruit the spanish hero who's name escapes me. As well as Hawk & Dove.
#91 however is just a turd. I can't believe how dark , brooding and crappy how others made the Giffen league after he left. This has Ice's funeral. Its just sad and this issue plants the seeds of the ill-timed Justice League spin-offs in the mid 90's ( Extreme Justice , Justice League Taskforce....ect)
Detective Comics #568 : Decent issue as its a Legends cross-over. It has a fantastic cover by the way if no ones seen it.
Captain America #345 : Its just an intense issue as the bad guy group " The Watchdogs " kidnap John Walker's parents. Walker tries to rescue them but they end up being killed which throws Walker over the edge. He brutally kills the Watchdogs one by one. In the final scene he tries to talk to them like nothings wrong.

Like of goodies at my show,
My spluge was Vampire tales #8, first solo Blade, in VF. Now all I need is the annual to finish my run.
Finished off Tomb of Dracula 18 and 25

Shazam 100pg. 2 different issues
Detective Comics 100pg with the last part of the Manhunter story

I have been trying to complete my run of:
New Mutants
GI Joe (80's marvel)
Transformers (ditto)
I have also been going through my collection, putting everything on a bag/board and replacing worn issues. Easy to do, as most 80's-90's books are $1 an issue. Running into some problems with some spider issues but mostly no problem.
I find alot of them through mycomicshop.com
I try to order about $20 worth of issues everytime I get paid

Todays finds for me....
Powerman & Iron Fist #54 & #103: Great covers as #54 has the 2 as the Heroes for Hire ! I can't wait to read these.
Justice League of America #236 & #239 : This features the Detriot League that Aquaman helped found. In 239 the orginal JLA members Superman , Wonder Woman and Flash return and are a little put back that Aquaman has handed the JLA keys to the new team. But they understand.
Alpha Flight #10-#11,#13-#14,#16, & #23 : 13 features an awesome Wolverine cover. Even thoughI can't picture Logan ever saying " Sucker " .
Justice League America #70: The league is reeling as its most powerful member and greatest hero has fallen. Its a special tie in issue of " Funeral For a Friend " and the JLA has to rebuild.
X-Force #30: This features the long thought and rumored Summers brother , Adam-X. However this was a 1990's plan that never happened.
Green Lantern #185 ( vol.1) : Great cover as this has John Stewart become Earth's GL. It also promises the stunning return of.....
Green Lantern # 40 ( Vol.2) : Has a cover that has a Darkstar killing.....Barry Allen ???

Today there was a comic and card show here and I browsed thru and found many awesome back issues of Uncanny X-Men. The guy did come down to 20 bucks for Gambit's 1st appearance in Uncanny #266. I however won't give that much for a comic.
We did work out a deal for Uncanny #265 which was a piece I needed in my back issue holes in Uncanny. I'm gonna see if he'll do some trading for a few of the other holes in my collection there.

When I went to Cape recently in Dallas, I didn't find any of the couple of handfuls of books that I was looking for, but I got like 50 or so books in new condition for a quarter each. Lots of JLAs, a few Nightwings, some Our Worlds at War specials, Just Imagine Stan Lee . . ., OH! And I got JLA/Avengers for like $1 + Tax! It was the first time I had ever read it; I thoroughly enjoyed it, too.

Superman 335#: This has a Whitman cover box featuring Mr.Myz facing down Superman. Its an interesting cover.
World Finest 231# : Has a few small nicks on the bottom but has a great cover featuring the sons of Superman/Batman leaving thier dads to hang with Green Arrow and Flash !
X-Force 19#: Now this is a good read. After the events of X-Cutioner's saga , the young team of X-Force want to follow thier own lead. The team was staying with the X-Men at the mansion but wanna persue thier one version of the dream.
Sam Guthrie gets a better costume that he has now currently. Its a pretty good read for those wanna see a team go on thier own.

Yep , Its been far too long since we had a thread where we could talk about our "Back Issue hunting" stories.Or what key Back Issues we scored?
So as usual I'll start my Back Issue hunting journey and It concerns my hunt to get Uncanny X-Men Issues for cheap!Recently I landed a pretty good haul slowly.Heres a list of my Issues I had...and the ones added In bold.
Uncanny X-Men: 142,144,148,153,173,180-181,184-185,203,210,223-240,243,244,245-247249-250,251-252,253-255,256-258 ,259-265,269-276,280-282,283-284, 286-290,291, 292-294,296,297-309,310-313,316,318-319,320,321,322-current!
Its my slow building holy grail. This past year , thats the Issues I've found and added that are cheap and easy to afford.I found them all In a shop and I'm still going on this.Odds are I'll snag 194-198 (a little worn),278-279,and 314-315,317 to lock up my run from 300 straight to 450#.
So come on...whats your current back Issue fun? What Issues have you added to a run of DC,Marvel or Indie book?
Surprisingly, Justice League of America circa 1984.
Apparently, I'm especially fond of the Don Heck issues. Stuff from 191-230 or so, I think, contain story and/or art I dig.

Comic book show in Milwaukee this sunday. My last chance at Backissues until the big WWC in August.
Although last weekend I found an almost full run of First Comics Whisper by Steven Grant in a cheap box. 30 issues for less than $15
Hope it's possible to finish it. I read most of this as they came out. Had to quit during an allowence cut back. I know had the first 15-20. It'll be fun reading the whole thing if I can find them.

Tales of the Legion of Superheroes #322: Features an awesomne cover of Dawnstar seemingly killing someone !
G.I. Joe #75 & #62: Haven't read these yet but the Destro cover has me really intriqued.

Its not every day I can sit here and claim that by gods grace I have found a place that has GREAT BACK Issues for a cheap price. But my god....I'm in Geek Nirvana. In fact today I pulled into this shop I hadn't been in for a year to 2.
There sitting was tons of cheap $ 1.50 to $ 3.00 Action Comics and Superman from the last 60's thru the 70's. In GOOD to GREAT condition. I saw some Uncanny X-Men issues like #200 marked down to $ 2.00 bucks in GREAT CONDITION.
Have you ever cried. I mean wept at what you saw sitting in these boxes ? Wondering if God has graced you ?
Uncanny X-Men #200
: This is the famous Trial of Magneto where he turned good. I saw this and snagged it ! Been lookin for a cheap copy of this. Most I had seen wanted $ 15.00 to $ 10.00 for it.
Superman #287,#296,#297 : Features some awesome damn covers. The 296-297 has this awesome story where Clark Kent and Superman become 2 different beings. I loved the #296 cover with Superman telling Clark Kent " Good-bye and Good Luck: Your gonna need it ! "
Action Comics #445 & #500: Featuring a cover a poster showed me with Supergirl . Its a fantastic cover from 1979 and its a lil worn. But hey..I'm not complaining ! :D

Tomorrows my Birthday and its a pretty solid week for me. I got some back issues at a Flea Market today. In fact its time to run down the issues baby.
X-Factor #130: Now this puppy is one I've hunted for since I started this thread nearly 3 years ago. It features the death of Graydon Creed which would later that year kick start " Operation Zero Tolerance ".
Legionaires #0: This is the 1994 relaunch of the LSH that started things from scratch. It only lasted a decade.
Excalibur #125:: Its the FINAL ISSUE of Excalibur and the Wedding of Meggan and Brian Braddock. This issue would mark a turning point as Kitty Pryde,Colossas and Nightcrawler would soon arrive back in the X-Books.
Uncanny X-Men # 217,#290,#317, & #360 Collectors Edition:
I needed 217 and 290 for holes in my X-Run thus far. I also needed 317 as well.
New Warriors #75: The FINAL ISSUE of the NW's as well. By this point Marvel phoned it in for this once proud 1990's team. Once pushed into the Spiderman group of titles , it slowly died.
Batman # 638: Jason Todd Cover: This one features the alternate cover of 638 and has Jason Todd looking pissed.
Fantastic Four # 293: Has a fantastic cover of She-Hulk facing a blackhole ? Wow...
JLA : Secret Files #1 : We see the JLA " Past , Present and Future ....REVEALED !! "
X-Men #76: Has the tragic origin of Maggott !
I'm happy I found a lot of these. The guy was close to selling an entire box of 400 comics for 200 bucks to another guy there. He of course only wanted to pay 50 down and odds are screw the poor seller ( which he seemed to sense as well and didn't want hard feelings with him later) and kept the box. I pulled out what issues I really liked and for 5 bucks I got this haul.

Birthday back issues finally.
Uncanny X-Men #190-#192,Annual #8: Found these in a package. Needed them for my growing Uncanny X-Men back issue collection. I'm very happy as I've really seemed to find a lot of Uncanny issues the last 2 weeks.
Firestorm: the Nuclear Man #2 & #5 ( Mini-series ), #1,#3, & #5 ( Regular series) : Package as well too. I'm really happy because I wanted to find issue #1 of the regular series.
Powerman & Iron Fist #99: Great cover and written by CBR's resident mystic of comic summoning: Kurt Busiek !
Starman #29 (vol.2 or 3) : Awesome damn cover. With the words "Join the Revolution " on it. Is it any secret how or why Jack Knight became so identfied as Starman by Robinson & Harris ?
Sucide Squad #30 : Its part 10 of the Janus Directive cross-over with Checkmate and Manhunter !
Justice League of America #248 : Nice cover as we see the Martian Manhunter as a Detective.
Yep these were my Birthday back issues. I love how none of these ran over a buck. Hard to find back issues like that at times. :D

Today I went to that cheap place and found some more 70's and 80's cheap gems.
Uncanny X-Men # 188 : Another hole in my collection filled. I have a small funny run from now 187-192 here.
Superman # 292 , #294 , & #411: I really loved these Superman issues because #292 and # 294 have 2 of the best ones. In 292 , Lex Luthor is shown as a boy yelling at Superboy that one day he'll kill him . Then split across is grown Lex killing Superman ! In 294 we see Superman scared as he yells: " Every Man , Woman and Child in this world Vanished ! Pleas god-HELP ME! I don't wanna be THE LAST MAN ON EARTH ! "
In #411 its Julius Schwartze's birthday and in the Last Earth Prime story we see his DCU version. In it Perry White details that poor Julie would create heroes and watch as Wonder Woman , Batman and Superman took each one away sales wise.
As he lay dying Schwart begs Superman to take him to Earth-Prime. He fades away as he dies in the DC Editor's arms. A great issue and one I loved getting.

Action Comics #349,#353-#354: These have some fantastic 12 cent covers and thier a lil worn sad to say and have nicks. Of course ..what can ya expect I suppose ? I love the " Face of Death " cover on #349 .
The World of Krypton #1-#2: A 4 issue mini-series from 1988 with John Byrne and Mignola. Anyone read this ?

These are the funny ones I found in a small shop.
Superboy #89 : Published in 2001 , this book features the character in his worst costume to date as well as bad storyline. This once proud series has Superboy racing to find a solution for Jim Harper's de-aging. Harper is a child and has aged a lotta years in one night. Sadly by this point many knew Superboy wouldn't last past issue #100.
Superman Digest : Battles Wierd Villains #54 : This is a wierd one. Its published in small hand held digest format ala Archie. It reprints the old classic Bizarro and Mxyzptlk stories from the late 70's in Superman , DC Comics Presents and Action Comics.
Marvel Team Up #20 : Spiderman & Black Panther: This one has a great cover and I found it for cheap. Funny tag line: Mile High Murder. :p

I was out of collecting for a couple of years and am slowlyg getting the issues I have missed. My priority back issues are for Uncanny X-Men, X-Men, and Wolverine.

Ooh, I've never seen this thread before.
Let's see; went to a show in Boston today and grabbed:
Marvel Knights 2099: Black Panther and Punisher - Man, all these Kirkman-written one-shots were great. Not a real shock to this Kirkman fan, though.
The Question, by Veitch and Tommy Lee Edwards. Finally found the whole set (and cheap!), so I grabbed it and hopefully it'll be a fun weird read.
Blood of the Demon, the entire series. Only way I really wanted to read this was if I could get it cheap. And so I did. Been a long time since I've read some Demon stuff so let's see if I'm
Green Lantern (current series) 7-9 - GL, GA, Bats, Mongul, Mongal and the new Tattooed Man. Decent stuff.
The Captain Universe 2005 one-shots - Silver Surfer/Hulk/X-23/Sue Storm/Daredevil. Ok story, though I wonder if anyone's waiting for the promised March 2006 Captain Universe miniseries...
Batman: LOTDK 201-203 - Is Thomas Wayne the Robinson Park Ripper?! The last issue's cover sadly ruins the big surprise revealed 3 pages in. Good story nonetheless.

Green Lantern (current series) 7-9 - GL, GA, Bats, Mongul, Mongal and the new Tattooed Man. Decent stuff.
My only problem with Byrne's " Blood of the Demon " was the fact he wouldn't let the damn thing reach a conclusion for each issue. By issue #8 , I had enough of waiting on Byrne to properly end a story-arc and start a new one instead of keeping each thing ongoing....and going....and going.
You'll love those Green Lantern issues. I believe you have the sequel for " The Man Who Has Everything " . Great read.

I agree. I have from #7 on of the series. Starting with the Spectre issues.
Post-OYL was REALLY confusing.

I have issues 1-8 and it wouldn't be so bad if he would get to the end of a story-arc and start a new one. Instead of trying to tell one HUGE story with so many story-arcs. This could be a reason why DC canceled it at #17.

Sounds viable to me. I looked through the Superman/Batman/WW issues but never got them. It wasn't until Spectre that it got me into the title.
I still don't understand the OYL story at all. Even though he explained it in one of the last few issues, I still can't sort out why there were 3 Entrigans.

Justice League of America #175
Has a nice cover with Red Tornado leaping in to save a young kid from danger.
Captain America #337
In this issue , Steve Rodgers returns as The Captain !
Ms.Marvel #20
Has a pretty awesome cover as we see Ms.Marvel destroy some kinda lizard.
Charlton Bullseye: Blue Beetle & The Question #1:
This old 70's issue is a double-sized baby as we see Ted Kord and The Question . I'm pretty happy with finding this.
Marvel Age #10:
This baby has a great Star Wars cover featuring the entire cast it appears. It claims to detail whats ahead for this series.

I got a lot at the WWC, but the set I'm happiest with so far is Adventures into Fear 10-19, Man-Thing 1. I got the rest off of E-bay a few months ago, and was surprised at how well they held up. I had to get the rest when I found them so cheap, 1-2 for everything except 10, the first appearance of Man-Thing. I did find a F+ copy for $6 so I was happy.

Legion of Superheroes #28 : Its the death of Sunboy and it features a fantastic cover. Its too bad the art inside the issue and story is craptacular.
Flash #138 ( Vol.2) : This is the " Human Race " pt.3 as Grant Morrison and Mark Miller bring us this funny tale of Wally's Imaginary childhood friend returning as cosmic bet makers wanna destroy Earth if Wally doesn't race.
Marvel Super Action #13 : Has an awesome Steranko cover but is a reprint of a Captain America issue from 1968.
Captain America #213 & #298 : 298 features an origin of the Red Skull as #213 features the old fashioned Captain America & Falcon teamup.
Green Arrow : The Longbow Hunters #2-#3: Its the conclusion to perhaps the best Green Arrow storyline ever. Grell has Oliver Queen facing old age and wanting children til Dinah nearly gets killed. I'd recommend it and wish Grell to return to character and save him.
Adventure Comics #482: Chris King and Vicki Grant operate the H Dial and you DC Fans create the heroes !
Night Force #1 : This is the 1st issue of that Marv Wolfman series from the 80's that didn't last long.

It wasn't a good day at the Flea Market. The place had few comics and some weren't worth it. I really wonder what genuis packages Amazing Spiderman in the early 90's with Team Youngblood in a Bargin pack for 5 bucks ?
Then ya had some awesome Gold Key books from the 60's/70's that were UFO Comics. I was gonna buy a few but the damn dumb asses taped price tags to the comics. Someone tried to remove the cheap $1.00 tags and as I looked and saw that they had tore some of the cover.
I finally found a nice looking girl selling ( and get this ) Sonic the Hedgehog comics. I found a few back issues and she was sellin em for 50 cents. I have to say.....she was hot. And I'm not proud but I didn't wanna waste the whole day at the Flea Market and not have a fun back issue.
Sonic the Hedgehog #150-#153: Nice covers by the way for kids books. Also isn't it amazing these came out last year and are priced at ...get this: $ 2.25 an issue. So maybe Archie has it right and maybe we DC/Marvel should persue cheaper methods ala what these comics are produced on.

Todays finds.... at my local Flea Market for cheap....
Flash ( Vol.1) #246 , #268 , #282-#283, #330: All these feature awesome covers I think. 246 is pretty worn but features the tag line: The Flash: Arrested ? . Which is about 5 to 6 years before the whole Trial phase that Barry Allen went thru.
Strikeforce: Moritari #24: If anyone remembers this is the series where Heroes in this possible future were created and only had an infinite about of time or they would die !
The Official Teen Titans Index #4 of ( 5) : Nice cover by the way. This seems to be from the mid 80's when the Titans and Wolfman ran wild.
The New Defenders #151 Features a pretty damn awesome cover featuring that D-Lister Defender known as Manslaughter. Ya know...the guy who had the piss poor wannabe costume Longshot had and carried a book bag ?
Flash #51 ( vol.2) : This has Wally West and company . The story is kinda what most West stories were like before Waid came along. There was a generic bunch of ex-Russian speedsters and one female became Lady Flash.
Grendal : Black , White & Red #1
Now this was a great read. I enjoyed these Grendal stories and this is from 1998. I enjoyed the B & W read and liked the 1st and Chess story here.
What If #25 ( Vol1) : What If : Thor and the Avengers Battled the Gods ? For the love of Jane Foster he will destroy the universe !
Crossgen : Sampler : Featuring the company that sadly is no longer around.

Four back issues for me today.
Justice League (International) #5 -- Saw it on the back issue wall. This is the one where Batman one punches Guy. What I find great about that scene is that Captain Marvel gets pwned totally by both Batman and Guy....
"Captain Whitebread"...
Awesome. Mainly got it because I wanted to see the full context of the scene.
The Legion, #28-30 -- I mostly picked these up because they had Darkseid in them. Being a huge Darkseid fan, I wanted to pick these up. I saw a few scans of badassery on livejournal and wanted to see the context of it as well.

Alpha Flight #12 ( Vol.1) : This features the " Death " of Guardian by John Byrne. An awesome cover and its subject to a big debate ongoing on the Yab's forum concerning Byrne & Peter David.
Vigilante #2 This 80's book has Marv Wolfman at his best. In this Adrian Chase goes after a rapist who was freed. Except the person responsible and convicted wasn't and after savagely beating the guy, Chase feels he's done wrong and gives up being the Vigilante to work for his father. He changes his mind.
Showcase Presents #97 : This features Powergirl and has that nice cover of her exploding thru the All-Stars comic.
The Phantom Zone #2,#4 : This is a mini-series from the 80's. Looks pretty fun. ;)

Checkmate #1 ( Vol.1): This is the 1st 80's series which launched Checkmate following its debut in Action Comics #598.
Black Lightening #4 ( Vol.1): This was one that stands out. In great condition for a 70's comic , this has Black Lightening holding a beaten down Jimmy Olsen and only has Superman's cape and foot issueing a dire warning for BL.
X-Factor #26 : This is a Fall of the Mutants cross-over and has the team helping save New York as Apcolips watches on. The team then gets new uniforms and has a parade thrown in their owner.
Master of Kung-Fu #125 : For 10 years he has walked the way of the warrior. Now that has came to the end. Slightly worn but still a nice final issue. I enjoy getting final issues wierdly.
New Mutants #8-#9: This has some funny covers as one features Cannonball nearly stabbed by some cavewoman and the other has a Roman Gladiator type thing.

Detective Comics #447: It has a real small light cover problem in the corner. But otherwise in awesome shape. It has The Creeper in that classic cover kicking Batman.
Star Wars # 104: Not too good a cover. But it's near the end of the Marvel Star Wars series. I believe the series final issue is #107.

Big day at the comic show.
Most books I've bought at one time in a long time. Almost 2 long boxes of stuff, but one of the dealers had a blow out, 50 for box. I got almost a whole box of Conan comics, the Marvel run 30-275 missing about 25 issues in it, King Conan/Conan the King 1-55 missing about 3 issues, Conan the Adventurer 1-14 complete.
Then the second box is mostly the old TSR comics DC put out in the 80's
Advanced D&D, Spelljammers, Forgotten Realms Almost complete runs of each.
I've got some reading to catch up on.
yay me! and I sold enough stuff to make room for packing it up.

Captain Carrot Comics #25: This was a funny B & W issue that had CC crossing over with the Ninja Turtles. It has Ralphelo getting amensia and becoming Carrot's sidekick. By Dark Horse.
What If ( vol.2) #3,#5,#10,#14: In issue #3 its a " What if Captain America fought the Comission " . In that he chooses not to hand over his CA identity to the Council who sought to take it.
#5 Features a " What If the Vision had Destroyed the Avengers ! " story. Haven't read that yet. #10 has a " What If the Punisher's Family Hadn't Died ? " and #14 is intriquing for the fact its a " What If Captain Marvel hadn't Died of Cancer ! "
Firestorm #67-#68 : These are the Millenum cross-over issues. Firestorm deals with the new merger of Ronald Raymond and Micheal.
The Weird #1-#4: This is the storyline that introduces the Weird, a Jim Starlin created character to the DCU. The series had the JLA facing off with this newly created hero who has an interesting back story.
Wonder Man #1: In this one shot we see Simon dealing with his feelings on potentially dying as well as the fact his acting career isn't working. He takes a job and manages to help the Avengers stop Sandman who is dying of cancer and is scared of dying himself.
On a funny note or printing error there are 2 covers for this 1 shot. One is after the next page before the story starts.

I just got the following on ebay from 1 seller. (I love flat rate shipping)
Due to a sudden urge to fill in missing Batman appearances, I got
Batman & Outsiders @1, Detective Comics 0,580,582,586,587,591,592 (I still need 569,570,572,590,594 to have every actual issue of Batman postcrisis)
I also filled in random Batman appearances:
Armageddon Inferno 2, Demon 23, Power of the Atom 9, Zero Hour 1-3, Action Comics 753. Everything was $2 except for the Zero Hours which were $1 each, and the Outsiders for $2.73
I also filled in holes in my Marvel Universe:
Black Panther '80s miniseries #2 finished that off for me
Marvel Two-in-One #57,86,88 (need 8 more issues of that, some of which the seller had, but above the $3 line I usually refuse to cross)
I got the recent Hulk series #60,63 since they were both under a buck, and Hulk vs. Quasimodo
Damage Control (vol. 1) #4 and I now have all of them.
Daredevil #145 and 293; Daredevil remains a large hole in my collection
Defenders #31 leaves 9 issues to go

Master of Kung-Fu #79 finishes the series for me; I still need a few giant-size issues

Sgt. Fury #54 and 90 (those were $5 and $3.50; that's one of the series I stoop to pay more for; still need almost 40 issues of that series)
Son of Satan #7 finishes that series for me (I caved and paid $4; I was excited to finish it

I've just recently been reading through Dematteis' Defenders. I was shocked and amazed by how good they were. I had no conception. Overall, I think it's a great time for Marvel the early '80s (Daredevil, X-Men, Shooter's Avengers, Stern's Amazing Spider-Man), and I think these Defenders are right up there.
Obviously, this follows from my own tastes, but thought I'd post since you asked and I've gotten really excited by those Defenders. Issue 100 though finishes a story begun in issue 94 or so.

Man-Thing vol. 2 #9
Nam #43,73,74,77,80,82,83
Nick Fury Agent of SHIELD #9
Power Man & Iron Fist #78,79
Power Pack #40
Spider-Woman #8,9
Spider-Man Dr. Octopus Out of Reach #1 (another horrible mistake; I needed Negative Exposure; Doh!)
Marvel Knights Spider-Man #17 (I had MKSM in my pull when this came out; it was an oversight on the part of myself and the comic store that I missed it)
Official Index to Spider-Man #2
Spectacular Spider-Man #4,23 (these are during the brief period in my life when I decided I didn't need to buy everything Spider-Man if I wasn't enjoying them; I've since reconsidered)
The most exciting finds were the Spider-Woman's, as this completes the series for me. It's also nice to fill in older things like Nick Fury cheaply. The Man-Thing finished that volume for me, but I still need a few of the previous series and many of his Adventure into Fear appearances

Thats good to here. Ill be picking them up at the next show i go to. I usually see them in 50 cent bins so hopefully I can find some.

I'm more of a anniversery issue nut. Or a final issues guy. I grabbed the New Defenders #152 last year because it was a final issue of that series. Then I got #100 since its a great double-sized issue and I like collecting those.
I tend to buy a lot of older DC now than Marvel. But my travels have seen a lot more older marvels since the release of those DVD-Rom collections that have came out.

I decided long ago that Marvel would be my thing and it's hard to focus on much else. I have a goal of reading the whole Marvel Universe and the DC universe would distract me (though I am working on Batman anyway)
I can't decide how I feel about the DVD's. Well, I'm glad they're there, but I prefer to read my comics in their physical form. Maybe I'm old-fashioned.
Or just bitter. I already had every issue of Spiderman and Avengers (well, '60s in Masterworks/Essential form) by the time they were released and had gone to a lot of trouble to get them. I still need about 30 more issues of FF, and it's tempting to just by the DVD and call it day, but I've tried so hard and come so far, and I'd hate to think that in the end it didn't even matter.

I'll take that to mean you have positive feelings toward the bolded ones and neutral toward the rest.
So hey, I've been back issue hunting for some years now and it seems to be a dying art. I'm quite glad you're into it and have this thread. What's your main collecting focus now, if I may ask? I know you mentioned anniversary issues as something you like? Anything you're trying to get completely? Do you look for whole stories? Writers? Characters? (This is to anyone who likes to hunt)
My goal is to get '60s Marvel via Masterworks and Essentials and then fill in the rest at least until 1990, and catch up all the "main" titles to the present, where I prefer to get trades.. I recently decided I should also own Batman. I now own ALMOST every Batman appearance since 1985, and am trying to work backwards.

I really don't have big goals per say. I do try and get back issues that impress me. I plan to get as many cheap ( meaning $ 1 dollar to $ 2.00 dollars) Uncanny back issues I need. From Annuals to single issues I've hunted down over the past few years.
A lot of what I find are cheap stuff at flea markets and antique shops. If the issue is something I find good ( covers usually lure me) I'll pick it up. A lot of my focus is on 60's-80's stuff now back issue wise.

Solo Avengers #19: In a story by Howard Mackie , Hawkeye chases after the villain Eyeball. Its a funny short story as Hawkeye and him both get stranded in a desert and crawl their way to another villains secret lair. The backup story is a Black Panther story.
Defenders #77 & #149: In Issue #77 a young kid is Omega the Unknown ! He is on the run from the villain called Ruby and the Defenders try and help him . Of course its too late as the real story is revealed that Omega's creation and use of his powers destroyed his home planet. To futher cement herself as a pompus bitch , Moondragen verbally berates her team mates for causing future harm to the cosmos and she is disgusted to be around them. ( heres the 411 Moondragon I didn't see your bald ass exactly doing much in this to avert all this danger....)
#149 reveals the truth about Cloud and the final sees a huge explosion. Plus we learn about the latest New Defenders team mate Andromada who is from Atlantis. Decent enough issue but the series ends in 3 more issues which is sad to see.
New Mutants #7: I picked this up for the interesting cover.....Silver Samuri looks like he's ready to lay an ass whuppin down on Cannonball and company.

In todays cheap finds...
Marvel Two-in-One #48: This features the Thing ( Ben Grimm) and Jack of Hearts in a good teamup.
Challengers of the Unknown #83: : Has the DC team meeting Swamp Thing !
DC's From Beyond the Unknown #20: Has a fun awesome cover of 2 creatures poppin up from the sea to take 2 young kids. The name of the cover story is " Fishermen from the sea ! "
Marvel's Fantasy Masterpieces #2: Ok now why this was in a grab bag shocks me. Because its cleary the oldest dated thing I have seen. Besides the edges of the issue showing its age , its in otherwise fine condition. The issue is from 1966 and reprints stories from other Magazines. Featured is Jack Kirby's " Fing Fang Foom " , Steve Ditko's " Those Who Lurk Below " and Don Heck's " OROGO".
Son of Ambush Bug #1: Ambush Bug is back in his latest attempt to get money as usual. Down on his luck he collects welfare for him and Cheeks. Then he gets a case that could challenge him.
Kurt Busiek's Astro City #14: In this awesome tale , Steeljack is released from jail and wants to go straight finally. Can a super villain ex-con go straight for good and what happens when he gets asked to help stop a killer ?
The Dark Crystal #1: The official comic book movie tie-in of this Jim Henson movie. Good cover and all.
Weird Wonder Tales #1: The cover is pretty amazing as a Monster as big as a Universe devours the planet. Its the end of the world as one character says.

My back issue Hunt for pretty much the end of 2006.
Uncanny X-Men Annual #13: This is during the last year pf the " Outback Years " dated from 1989. In a shock Chris Claremont didn't write any of the stories involved.
Tales of the Green Lantern Corps. Annual 1#: The backup feature in the main GL title during the 80's gets their own Annual.
Weapon X #14: This is a great issue as we see inside Mr.Sinister and his experamints. From him posing during WW II as a Nazi scientist to taking blood from Namor to futher his science. Sinister is gonna be in a huge X-Crossover in 2007 since its his 20th anniversery. So if anyone wants a good sick Mr.Sinister appearance...this is for you.
Justice League Europe #23 : Classic Giffen fun for all the family. The cover promises to reveal more on the Crimson Fox.
Superman ( Vol.2) #57: Its Superman vs Krypton Man who is back for revenge. The Eradicator is lookin to reshape Earth into Krypton and will use any means to do it. Fun issue as we see Superman struggle against him. Its a double-sized issue to start this arc so I suggest it.

I got a $20 gift certificate from ebay as a Xmas gift. What a nice company. Had to use it before New Years though. So it was back issue-hunting for me! Here's what I came across:
Thor: The Legend #1: I don't have much use for these character bio issues, but they're nice to own for completeness sake and this was only 75 cents!
Mekanix #3: Claremont's Kitty miniseries of recent years I still need to read, also 3 quarters
Because Morrison annoyed me, I stopped reading his X-Men. Then I grew short of cash and stopped buying his X-Men. Now there's a gaping whole in my X-Men collection where I gave up on Morrison and Austen, and it saddens me, so for a dollar each I happily bought:
X-Men #134,137,148,155
Also a dollar:
Batman and the Outsiders #25
FF. vol. 3 #66: This completes Waid's run for me, which I'd already read in its entiretey; I find it weird I don't own this issue already.
Ghost Rider #40,59: $1 and $2 respectively. Still have a huge gap in Ghost Riders to fill
Marvel Premiere #38: don't really need the noncanon issues like this Weirdworld one, but for a dollar why not?
Captain America vol. 4 #7: Had stopped buying that 'cuz Rey Neiber annoyed me, but I'm a completist.
Wolverine #126
FF Atlantis Rising #1: Now we're getting up to $1.50; I've never read this story; one of the few Marvel crossovers I haven't (Starblast is the other that comes to mind, and then anything recent)
Vision & Scarlet Witch #4: what brought me to this seller. For years I thought I had this whole series 'cuz I got it into my head in ended with 3. I'd even just read it and didn't notice I missed anything. I randomly stumbled across a description of the series somewhere and realized there was a fourth. Which is good. Because this is where we learn Magneto's the father (we've already met two other fathers for Wanda and Pietro) and I'd always wondered where that happened.
Now things cost $2:
Eternals #10: 2 more issues and I don't need to buy the omnibus
Iron Man #72
$3:
Hulk #194
Daredevil #143
I used to have a strict $3 rule. I have now decided that there are some series from '60s and early '70s I'm just not finding at those prices. So, for select titles pre-1975, I will pay up to $5 (say $5.50 after tax/shipping whatever)
So, for $4:
Hulk #174
Strange Tales #173: Brother Voodoo is the man!
Astonishing Tales #12: But so is Ka-Zar!
For $4.50
Adventure into Fear #15: the Man-Thing!
And for a whopping $5
Hulk #138: He fights Sandman; it better be THAT damn good for my hard-earned money!
All in all $35 well spent

Ebay again. But I spoke too soon last time. The $20 could only be applied to a single item not a purchase, so I had to find a seller selling something I wanted for $20. I paid $55 for the last batch I mentioned. I found Sub-Mariner 20-33, annual 1 for $50. Figured that would do. Seller had another $150 worth of stuff I wanted too, with free shipping after the first item (actually he probably had way more I wanted, but whatever)
A lot of good '60s, early '70s Marvel, some of which I paid up to $5 for, but most was around $3. Plus I finished off 9 series!
Here's what I got:
Old Avengers stuff:
Captain America 128,130,135,145-147,161,165,166,171
Cat 2,4
Iron Man 33-36,56,63,64
Jungle Action 15,16
Sub-Mariner 20-33,50,56,61,67,70,71,@1
Thor 196,197,212,215,218,222,@19
Batman stuff:
Detective Comics 594
Armageddon: Inferno 3
Justice League 5
Marvel general:
Savage She-Hulk 15 (finished series)
Alpha Flight 66,89 (got what I need from the series for now)
Champions 13 (one more issue to go!)

Brave & the Bold #151,#162,#190, & #196 : With teamups featuring Ragman , Sgt.Rock , The Flash , and Adam Strange ! #190 has an awesome Aparo cover by the way.
American Flagg #23: In this issue its the end of a storyline that sees a new Mayor and a Plexus Ranger posing as a black man to do hidious crimes. Alan Moore does a backup story by the way.
Action Comics #428: : Has a cover with 2 young boys looking at Superman and going.... " Gee I wonder whatever happened to him ? "
Superman #290: : Has a great cover as Superman can't crack an anti-gravity beam to save those who need help.
Hope everyone liked the newest update and its the 1st post of 2007 !

All my back issue buying tends to be at cons or ebay these days. Today was ebay. I was going to avoid it until the con, but I had thought I had the X-Men vs Avengers trade, when it appears I don't, and my roommate is approaching that story in his reading of my X-Men. So I needed
X-Men vs Avengers #2-4.
And since the seller who had all those for under #1.25 offered unlimited items for $3, I had to buy everything I could.
In my attempt to fill in all Batman appearances post-Crisis, I got
Booster Gold #23
Because I like Batman:
Untold Legend of Batman #2
Detective Comics #450,452,518,532,541 (all in the $2-3 range)
The one nonrecent Spiderman comic I don't have is
Marvel Superheroes #14.
I've been looking for that cheaply for a while and gave up and paid $10, way over my normal $5 limit. But this is a bit special.
In the $1-3 range we have:
Ghost Rider #30,34,35,37,43,48,52
I bought
Fantastic Four #190
in fr/gd condition, lower than I normally go, since it was only 20 cents.
And then:
Fantastic Four annual 13
Fantastic Four Unplugged #4
GIJoe #61,86
GIJoe Special Missions 7
Firestorm #65, annual 1 (just need 2 more issues!)
Transformers #6
Good day for $60

The X-Men vs. Avengers #3 I'd ordered before didn't come, so I tried again. And if you wanna buy a comic for a dollar from somebody on ebay, you may as well spend a hundred and save on shipping. Here's what I got: post1980 stuff was mostly under a buck, some as high as $2. Most of the rest was around $3, though I went up to $5 for a few of the older ones.
Captain America #170
Iron Man vol. 3 #11,72,77
Sub-Mariner #65,66
Thor #229,313 (leaving me still missing #385 as an odd hole between 226 and 476)
In my continuing effort to finally kill of post-crisis Batman:
Catwoman #22,30,34,39,47,56,57 (still need 6 more issues)
Detective Comics #0
Robin #34,42
Showcase '94 #4
Power of Shazam #22
Question #2
Ragman #8
Vigilante #47
Astonishing Tales #2,5,7,9,11,15,16,23,31,32,36 (this was exciting as the title is a big hole for me)
Death's Head #2,3 (finished the series!)
Dr. Strange Master of the Mystic Arts #20,22 (3 more issues of Dr. Strange needed)
Human Fly #19 (finished the series!)
Knights of Pendragon #13,18 (finished the series!)
Marvel Chillers #6 (finished series!)
Marvel Feature #5,7,9,10 (also exciting to fill these in)
Classic X-Men #39,41 (just need one more issue!)

Brave & the Bold #146,#160,#182 & #186 : Awesome issues thus far in this series. 146 has a teamup of the Golden Age Earth 2 Batman & Unknown Soldier. Its a good teamup for fans who love WW II era type teamup stories.
#160 has Supergirl showing up and this time Linda Danvers foster father has been kidnapped. Its up to Batman and her to find out what the kidnappers want and plot behind it all.
But the best issue is # 182 as Batman ends up on Earth II as Hugo Strange in a mad dash to kill himself threatens that worlds Gotham. Batman is shocked as he sees Batwoman from that world and has feelings of loss since she died months ago on his world. Dick Grayson from Earth II sees this Bruce Wayne and feels a loss as its months after Earth II's Batman had died. Its a hard issue to read but the dynamic duo end it by Grayson saying he's sorry for being angry at Earth 1's Batman for being Bruce Wayne.
#186 features one of my favorite DC Villains. The Fadeaway ,Man ! Seems he's trying to steal and con criminals on artifacts and Hawkman comes to town to stop him.
Justice League of America #60 ( vol.2) This issue has the Giffen/DeMattis era end as Martian Manhunter takes personal time away and the league undergoes a change. Max Lord returns and in a funny scene we get a fat Blue Beetle joke.
Sadly this would end what was DC's golden era on Justice League. Once Giffen & DeMattis left the series would nosedive to shit.
The best part of this issue is Guy Gardner argueing with Powergirl over being named Justice League leader. That was a high;light. Good-bye JLA.
Adventure Comics #465: Is a 68 page issue as the JSA,Deadman,Flash and Aquaman have stories in this puppy. The Deadman story is a pretty fun one . So is the Flash story as he battles the effects of 2 sonic booms colliding.

Justice League of America #162, #218,#223: These are slightly worn. But are pretty freakin awesome covers. 218 has a great cover with the tag line : What is the Price of Humanity ? "
JSA #24-#25 : Its the Return of Hawkman as Johns & Goyer fix the confusing mess that is Hawkman finally. Carter is back and he's came back for his one true love. The scenes with Mr.Terrific debating death , souls and ever lasting love make this a great storyline.
Uncanny X-Men #315: I needed this to fill in my Uncanny run. I'm now owning a run thats complete except for 295 and other issues down the line from there.
Excalibur #25: : This had a funny cover by Claremont with the line " The Crosstime Caper is Still Over ! " . It features Galactus .
Justice League Quarterly #3: The white background is slightly faded some but it features a very funny cover as someones holds a magnifyin glass up as the JLI stand there. Its classic fun with the Giffen league as usual.

Uncanny X-Men #219: Has my all-time favorite X-Men cover as Havok joins the team. I coulda had this years ago but sadly missed out when I went back to buy it.
Justice League International #24 : This features the 2nd Anniversy of the new Giffen league.

It's not everyday that someone admits to being a Human Fly completist.
Admitting that you have a problem is a very important first step to solving it.
I keed.
You should pick up the most recent Back Issue magazine - there's a good article on the series.
I have a soft spot for the Fly Guy myself - he was a mainstay on the 10 cent racks when I was a kid. Lots of Golden Age greats work on the title - Lee Elias (see my blog), Frank Robbins (love him or hate him - I'm a lover) and the wonder Bob Lubbers.

The comic overall disappoints me. Mantlo is my least favorite of the major Marvel writers of the era. But the story behind it is one of my all-time favorite stories ever. I just think he has the saddest story I've ever heard. Because he believed in fighting for ideals, but nobody noticed or cared.
Thanks, Scott. I'd love to check out the Back Issue Magazine. I'm greedy for Human Fly stuff.

Yes, boss.
Carl Barks Library collecting Scrooge McDuck #1-20. Awesome.
All-Star Superman #3 (I'd been give the rest of the series by the amazing Jeff Brady)
Met Dematteis and bought book 1 of Abadazad and a random issue of Stardust Kid for him to sign
Filled in random Detective Comics: 533,536,551,556
And then got back to work on the Marvel Universe:
From $1 bins:
Captain Marvel #40,54
Marvel 2-in-1 #7, Thing and Valkyrie!
Hulk annual 7
Daredevil 287
Human Fly 7,8,10,11,12,17 (this is upsetting because I thought I was done with the series but a recent inventory showed several missing issues, including #1, which I know I've read and thus owned at some point; but alas it is not in my boxes now, so it is lost; #1 is the only issue I am still "missing")
Kazar Lord of the Hidden Jungle #3-8,13,20 (still need 4 more issues of that series, plus 2 more issues of Kazar the Savage)
Man-Thing #5,11,13,14 (these were exciting to find for a buck; I was resigned to pay more for them)
Marvel Spotlight #24 on Son of Satan
Master of Kung Fu #113,115,116,118,121 (like Human Fly a series I'd thought I was done with but am in fact missing several)
Power Man #41,42,104,106
Power Pack #59 vs. the Ringmaster!
Punisher War Journal #15, guest-stars Spider-Man in what may be one of the webslinger's only guest appearances in the '90s
Sgt. Fury #129 (reprints issue 27)
From $3 bins:
Iron Man #52 against the Living Volcano!
Thor #189,203,205,207,208,210,224
Hulk #254,276 (paid a little much for these because I'm about done with the 200s)
Nice.....nice..... :)

Ok.... time to do an Uncanny X-Men update. The past 2+ years I've pretty much filled in every hole I can see. I even sadly have a few doubles included due to mind laps.
Heres how it looks thus far. Today I added some obvious holes I had missing:
Uncanny X-Men #295: Part 5 of X-Cutioners Song. It finally filled a hole I had pretty much left open in the 290's. The only hole from last check I have is 291 . Yep my list was wrong.
Uncanny X-Men #302: This was another hole I saw on a check. Its not the only hole I have the the 300's as I would learn when I did some searching.
Uncanny X-Men #314: This was another hole that I filled. I couldn't believe this either. But I saw I needed to get this issue and I did.
Uncanny X-Men #241: Ok with this hole filled my Uncanny X-Men list now reads....
from 200 and up...
200,203,210,217,219,223-247,249-265,269-284,286-290,292-367,369-current.
Yes my only holes from Uncanny #223 are 248 ( how the hell will I find a cheap Jim Lee without it bein priced all to hell ? ) , 266-268,285,291, & 368 !
Thats 7 issues on my search list. I shall find them. I have no clue how I've never noticed I didn't have 368 ..but I'm sure I can get it and 291 quicker than than I'll find that freakin Jim Lee issue cheap and Gambit issues as well. But I've came this far and I will not stop.
Thats why this thread exists.

I already had those. 84 is my last issue for the Power Man/Iron Fist days. Still need 39,40,49,50,59,66
On the rest, I like the stuff Lobdell did with Iceman, of which 314 is a major part. Overall I'm not a fan of his run, but it had its moments. X-Men 241. You learn the origin of the Goblin Queen if I recall as Inferno comes to a head, to be concluded over in X-Factor.
As for the Jim Lee stuff, experience tells me you can find every issue for about $5. The hardest would be 248, which is his first issue and 266, which introduced Gambit. I found 266 years ago in a garage sale for 50 cents, so anything is possible though. In fact, I got it before I'd decided to fill in Claremont's X-Men, in fact. So the hole was filled before I began!

I've got 45-200, with some of the earlier issues too. The Strange Sports issues can be had for very little money (and they are lots of fun), but those early Hawkman issues can be pretty expensive.
As for those after #50, 54 is generally the priciest but it is readily available. #51 always seems to be a little on the expensive side, and I've never understood why. The early Metamorpho issues are getting more and more expensive, but probably not too bad in VG. For some reason, I had a tough time tracking down #63 (Supergirl and Wonder Woman) - don't know why.

I've already got 42-44 (the 2nd trial run of Hawkman) and 51 (another Hawkman appearance that is pre-Hawkman #1, essentially his 7th app.) I don't have the 1st Teen Titans app in 54... haven't found one I can afford yet. Mostly it's just filling in the less expensive books when I find them in a grade and price I like. Several years ago I figured that the expensive books were rising in price much faster than the commons, so I went on a key issue buying spree... FF 48, GS X-Men 1, early Spider-mans, B&B, etc. I got as many as I could find at reasonable prices. The last couple years I've just been filling in the holes around them (and searching for any keys I still need), as well as buying all the Giant-Sizes, Annuals, 100 pagers, etc that I can find... I love them! You get 2, and often 3, eras of comics in a single issue... Golden Age, Silver Age, and Bronze Age!

Justice League of America #220: This is part 2 of a cross-over with the JSA. In this we learn the shocking origin of Black Canary and how the memories of Dinah Drake were changed to forget she had a daughter. That the daughter now has her mothers memories and.....ahhh shit on a shingle its confusing. Johnny Thunder of Earth 1 is evil and is behind this whole scheme. Its a great touch on the old Thunder & Black Canary teamups by the way.
Avengers #400 (vol.1): Its a special double-sized issue as Jarvis ends up saving the day. Enemies are popping up outta the woodwork as the Avengers battle to win. A darkness is spreading over the Earth as a time traveler tells Jarvis he's the one who can save the day. In the end its revealed the time traveler is in fact...LOKI ! Seems the Trickster and God of Lies was trying to take over as usual.
Avengers #5 (vol.2): This Kurt Busiek classic tale has the new Avengers team trying to do a rescue at sea as the Squadron Supreme show up and believe the Avengers aren't who they claim to be. If anyone wants to see what the Avengers should be...check out Busiek's run.
X-Factor #50 & #70: 50's a part of the Acts of Vengence event runnin thru the X-Titles. Its also the finale of the Judgement War. Awesome cover by McFarlane & Lefield. The 5 characters and the X on the cover is awesome.
70 has the ending of the Muir Island saga and the results of all the X-Teams meeting up. Xavier tries to save his sons life as well. But now the question is what to do with 14 X-Men at the end . Covers kinda worn at the top sad to say.
New Mutants #85,#88-#90,Annual #1: Pretty solid condition wise as issues. Haven't read yet. The Annual cover looks pretty awesome with the Rock Fable as a story.
Incredible Hulk #369: Awesome cover of the grey Hulk in angry mode standing abover the Freedom Force !
Thats the back issues for now.....til later....

There was a decent sized show today and I snagged a bunch of books and all. It was a haul that made me cry at the end. I nailed down that fabled #248 and locked up the holes in my Uncanny collection today. Plus snagged some fun issues.
Uncanny #195,#198,#248,#284,#286 and #291: These locked up holes I had Uncanny wise. Damn people....just 1 issue from a run of 269-current. Thats Uncanny #368 . Now I can try and find 266-268 for cheap like I did 248 .
Iron Man #50 (395): This starts the Mike Grell run that I enjoyed on Iron Man. Its pretty much the last good run of Iron Man before Marvel's crazyness forced him off the series.
Manhunter #1: This starts the Marc Andreyko series from DC. Its the 1st app of Kate Spencer and all. Plus Copperhead gets KILLED for being a murdous bastard by Kate. Awesome series people.
New Titans #71 & #89: 71 starts the Titans Hunt storyline that began the last good run by Wolfman on the series. It troduced a lot of changeover in the Titans but sadly ....Titans couldn't recapture that fire. 89 has the last of the logo being taken down as Nightwing claims its the start of a new era. This would start the Total Choas story-arc.
Alpha Flight #50 : Its a special double-sized issue as AF face Loki. Great cover by the way.
X-Men #4 & #11: This features an awesome cover by Jim Lee with the X-Team all standing there facing you. Wolverine has his claws out , and the entire cover is pretty damn good. Lee+X-Men=GOLD baby.
Fantastic Four #224 & #395: 395 has an awesome damn cover of Thing vs Wolverine !
#Flash #50 (Vol.2): I have some issues around this one. It was on my list of must find sometime. I just found it for barely anything.
Daredevil #223: DD faces the Beyonder !
Iron Man #197: Has just a cover of Iron Man shooting things. Thats it pretty much. A Secret Wars II issue as well.
And thats it people....

Grell did some good work with the supporting cast. He was finally gonna have Pepper Potts and Tony Stark become a couple . Her miscarriage and the 2 having issues where she did sleep with Stark I thought was very good.
Then Marvel up and removed him. We got a new Manderian too. Jackson had some decent ideas for the character but Grell was the last highwater mark the book had as a run. Depresses me he was removed over a story-arc.

She was always leaving Happy it seems. The 2 were always going thru an issue. If Quicksilver and Crystal have the worst superhero marriage , these 2 have the worst regular person marriage in Marvel. That sub-plot was seemingly dropped from existance .

I don't collect anything too old. I wish I grew up with comics, but it is newer to me so I like today's story approach and beautiful artwork. I can dig the talent older books have but the finished results since oh, 1995 or newer is just so much better. Of course the content doesn't hold up.
That being said, my friends all have that ONE character they try to collect. I am thinking about Daredevil. I love Bendis's run, then you Miller and Smith and even early Daredevil appearances though expensive are not like Spiderman.
I am also thinking of trying a littel 1980's Teen Titans run

Instead, I am buying the following on ebay:
Ghost Rider #51,61
Captain Marvel #56
Daredevil #154
Wolverine: Rahne of Terra
Giant-Size Man-Thing #1 (I feel like there's something amusing about that title, but I can't put my finger on it...)
The question for the audience:
This seller also has GS Man-Thing 2-4. I need these issues. But they are priced at $6,7,8 respectively. Well above my usual limit (which is $3 for most things, $5 for some) but I still have none of these issues. And I wonder if it's optimistic to expect to find them later for noticably cheaper. Should I just buy them now while they won't cost shipping?? I'm leaning toward no.
EDIT: Now looking at another seller selling issue 2 of GSMT for only 4.38. I may go this route.
Hmmmm... this seller has 2 copies of Jungle Action #11. A G for 38 cents and an F for $2. I like paying less and don't care about condition until it affects my ability to comfortably read a comic. Sometimes G is fine. Othertimes G means beat up to the point of annoying me. Do I play it safe and shell out the $1.62... Decisions, decisions...

Heres my latest haul from a month of back issue buys....
Uncanny X-Men #368: YES.....YES HELL YES !! I finally snagged 368 , a long missing piece in my Uncanny run from #269-current. Its the final piece thank god. Now I can concentrate on the rest of Uncanny.
Warlord #84-#88: The cover of Warlord by the American flag is something I really wanted. Finding these issues in a set was also cool. Its an issue where the character ends up in an alternate Earth future and he becomes President of the United States. The world is dying and he uses time travel to go back into the past to change things.
Peter Parker , the Spectacular Spiderman ! #101,#107-110,#123: 101 has Peter remembering Gwen Stacy as its a few days before her birthday. This is why retcons can ruin things for people. Joe Quesada take note. Good issue....107-110 is the Sin-Eater arc that is BEYOND AWESOME. Peter David writes one hell of a great storyline as Jane DeWolff ends up dead and more die as this mystery will shock you ! 123 has the absolute worst costume in Marvel history as Blackcat is back in Peter's life and has a new Micheal Jackson costume. UGH.
Wolverine #90: This is a cool read for those who love foldout and flippin the book on its side. This is the issue where Logan finally puts a claw thru that bastard Sabertooth's head !
Birds of Prey #1 , #56: Found these for nothing . 1# launches the regular series and 56 is Gail Simone's 1st issue of her 50 issue run on that series.
Micronaunts #1: Found this one as well.
Heroes for Hire #1 : The 1997 series by Ostrander with Powerman and Iron Fist.

123 has the absolute worst costume in Marvel history as Blackcat is back
