Yet *another* creative team change on a book at DC that I was getting really excited about:

Via Newsarama (http://www.newsarama.com/comics/110826-Didio3.html)

In Action, we’re going to see some major changes – Superman will not be featured in Action Comics. The stars of Action will be the new team of Flamebird and Nightwing. Flamebird is a character we’ve seen, but this is the first time we’re seeing her in costume. Nightwing is a character that we’ve known in the DCU for a little while, but he’s new to the Nightwing costume as well. The team on that book will be Greg Rucka with Eddy Barrows. Eddy will be moving over from Teen Titans.

Now – you’re going to be asking me two questions – and the question for me is, do I let you ask them and eat up your number of questions for this time, or do I go ahead and answer them before you ask them? I’ll do it myself, because I’d hate for you to use up your questions (laughs). The big question is where Geoff Johns and Gary Frank are going. They will be doing Superman: Secret Origin as a miniseries coming up later in the year. We decided to run that as its own miniseries, different from what Geoff just did in Green Lantern. It gives them a little more time to work it, they don’t have to struggle against the ongoing schedule, and it won’t throw off the triangles on the covers which keep track of the story. They’ll be doing the definitive origin of Superman as we’ve seen it all take place, and incorporating the changes that we’ve seen or suggested since Infinite Crisis.

From the way DC has been run for the past couple of years, it is pretty obvious that they really don't want any of my money. Nightwing and Birds of Prey get canceled and now the Johns/Frank team is taken off of Action Comics. I'm very surprised that DC has allowed Geoff Johns to remain the writer on Green Lantern for so long...shouldn't he have been removed 24+ issues ago?? Wow - could that last sentence have been more snarky?

I used to believe Geoff was the ONLY creator that I could have faith would be allowed to leave books at his say, but not even that is being changed by editorial edict?

Every DC book I have enjoyed either has been changed (Peyer on Flash, Waid on Brave and Bold) or had too many fill ins (Dini on Detective). I dropped all DCU stuff (other then Ambush Bug). Vertigo is it for me.
And I'll get trades if its a good storyline - but that will be rare, because I love the serial nature of comics, and changing teams doesn't let that happen.

Me too!

Looking at the DC books on my pull list for February 2009, NW & BOP are ending, I'm now dropping Action, probably going to do the same with Supergirl (as much as I like Jamal Igle, I am not really enjoying the New Krypton story), Green Lantern stays, I pick up Green Lantern Corps when the mood strikes and Vigilante (Rick Leonardi) is an intriguing possiblity that I won't make a final decision on until I read issue #1. In conclusion, that leaves me with ONE DC book on my pull list. Pathetic!!
