Powers: Sabretooth has a ccelerated cellular regeneration gives him superhuman strength, speed, endurance, reflexes and resistance to physical injury, expands his perceptions to give him animal-like senses, and grants him a healing factor that repairs his body at an advanced degree. He also has retractable finger claws that, along with his skeleton, have been surgically bonded with adamantium metal.
Current Status: Deceased, as long as he doesn’t find a way to heal from decapitation with a magical sword, or get cloned by someone connected to the Marauders.
Notes: Sabretooth is not to be mistaken for the Sabretooth from the Exiles or New Exiles teams, who is from Marvel Earth-295, home of the Age of Apocalypse.

Bio:
Sabretooth’s true origins are shrouded in mystery, and all that is known is he has some connection to a mysterious patron named “Romulus” who is somehow manipulating various feral mutants, not only today, but throughout history, including his longtime archnemesis Wolverine. His real name is believed to be Victor Creed (revealed in X-Men (vol. 2) #5). His strongest and earliest memories involve being cruelly abused on numerous occasions by his father while tied up in his parents' basement. Among the few memories he can recall include having his teeth and claws extracted for being “a sign of the devil”, the fact that his father killed his mother with an axe, and that he was forced to kill a rabbit with his bare hands and eat it to survive. (revealed in Wolverine (vol. 2) #60, Sabretooth (vol. 1) #1-2, X-Men Unlimited (vol. 1) #3).

However, whether or not these memories are accurate, or even true, is unclear. Sabretooth is believed to have brutally attacked Wolverine’s lover, Silver Fox, while the two were staying on a Blackfoot Indian reservation. The details of this attack remain hazy, due to the memory implants both were given by Weapon X, however. Supposedly, Silver Fox managed to survive, but knocked out one of Sabretooth’s front teeth in the attack. Since that incident on Wolverine’s birthday, Sabretooth has tried to torment Logan on each birthday since (revealed in Wolverine (vol. 2) #10, 61-64).

Eventually, Creed is recruited into a top secret CIA covert ops unit known as Team X, with allies John Wraith, Logan, Mastodon, and Maverick. On one mission to recover the Carbonadium Synthesizer from the Soviets, the psychopathic Sabretooth killed Janice Hollenbeck, a crucial scientist, during a battle against Russian supersoldier Omega Red, before leaving her for dead and jumping out a window to safety with Maverick and Wolverine, who wanted to stay behind to help her (revealed in X-Men (vol. 2) #6). Creed also killed a Vietnamese woman who spotted Team X, making the excuse that it needed to be done to not compromise the team’s secrecy on assignment (revealed in Wolverine (vol. 2) #61).On another mission in Russia, Sabretooth killed the Russian supersoldier Epsilon Red’s pregnant wife right in front of him, but miraculously, her unborn child would sucessfully be delivered, and grow up to become the telepath, Elena Ivanova (revealed in Wolverine (vol. 2) #68). He frequently targets and kills civilians during other fights involving the loose-knit team, but he is loose friends with Logan. During this period he fathers a son, Graydon Creed, with the mutant shape-shifter Mystique, who is undercover in the guise of a spy named Leni Zauber. (revealed in Sabretooth (vol. 1) #3-4).

Sabretooth would also be present on a botched mission in Germany with Wolverine and Maverick, where he would be badly wounded, and Maverick’s own brother, Andreas, would arrive on behalf of the East German government, offering Maverick to go free if he left Sabretooth and Wolverine for him to capture. Instead, Maverick shot his own brother to save Creed’s life (revealed in Maverick #2).

Sometime around 1959, Victor was approached by Nick Fury and Dum Dum Dugan to join a team of heroes that included Dominic Fortune, Ulysses Bloodstone, Kraven the Hunter, and Namora to hunt Nazi war criminals that escaped after World War II, joining the team in spite of a previous rivalry over an unspoken incident in Africa with his new teammate, Kraven (revealed in New Avengers (vol. 2) #10).

Having abandoned baby Nightcrawler an unspecified time earlier, Mystique (in the form of a ragged human woman) encountered Sabretooth in the forests of Germany. Starving and exhausted, he provided her to eat in exchange for sex. She didn't have much choice, and eventually traveled with him in a boat headed for Canada. After she revealed her true form to him, she manipulated him into murdering everyone else on board. The two of them then took control of a group of mutants and she told Sabretooth she was pregnant, which delighted him. She then injected him with a sedative and has him arrested while her team of mutants looked on (revealed in X-Men Unlimited (vol. 1) #40). It’s likely this time, Mystique was lying about being pregnant.

A few years later, Sabretooth would again encounter Mystique, Mystique who had taken on the identity of Amichai Benvenisti, an agent of the Mossad, and was set to meet Destiny at a rendezvous in Jerusalem. Sabretooth and Mystique would find Destiny strung up from the rafters at their meeting point, and when they tried to rescue her, they activated a booby trap, capturing them. Catalyst, their captor, was extremely dangerous, connected to both the Israeli mafia and HYDRA. As Catalyst began using his powers to torture Destiny, Mystique used the opportunity to break herself and Sabretooth out of their cell. Sabretooth burst into Catalyst's torture cell as he was interrogating Destiny. Destiny seized the opportunity of the distraction by kicking her tormentor into an electrofied tub of water, electrocuting him, or so they thought. (revealed in Sabretooth and Mystique #1-3)

In 1963, Creed would be on a mission in Cuba with Wolverine, under the codename El Tigre with an unknown purpose (revealed in Wolverine (vol. 2) #49).

Next, Sabretooth was recruited by the Weapon X program, but it is unknown what, if any, enhancements he received from them, specifically. He did not receive the standard Weapon X memory tampering, and he was found to be more prone to telepathy than his counterpart, Wolverine.

In 1968, Creed, using the alias Sabretooth, works as a mercenary assassin in Saigon and he began murdering prostitutes as a serial killer. Because of his contacts, Creed became aware that an individual, the White Devil, was involved in the disappearance of soldiers and locals, who were then rumored to be the victims of experimentation. Sabretooth is approached by Scalphunter, who has killed Creed's employer. Creed then receives a large sum of money as a compensation for his employer's death and because the White Devil wants to employ him as one of his own enforcers, an offer Sabretooth gladly accepted (revealed in Weapon X (vol. 2) #27).

Wolverine, fresh off of recovering from receiving his adamantium from Weapon X, went to America to meet the inventor of adamantium, Dr. Myron MacLain. Before the scientist could reveal more, Victor Creed crashes through the door and shuts MacLain up, trying to recover Logan for Weapon X. Creed took Logan for a walk, and was surprised to learn that Logan had no memory of who he was, or the horrific things he has done. Just as Creed was about to kill Logan, he was shot by Hydra gunmen, who summoned reinforcements when Logan fought back. Carol Danvers appeared with Nick Fury, and Logan leapt into their car. They manage to deal with the gunmen, with an assist from an unlikely source, Natasha Romanov, the Black Widow. Creed managed to catch up with Logan, Danvers, and Fury and as he once again prepared to kill Logan, Wolverine slashed his stomach. Opting not to kill him, he left the scene with Creed’s hat. (revealed in Wolverine: Minus One)

Sometime during this period, Sabretooth would also cross paths with the KGB assassin known as Yuri Yevgraf, and in combat with him, he would slash him with his claws, resulting in Yuri losing an eye. (Sabretooth: Back to Nature#1)

Sabretooth would then travel to Paris on a mercenary job, hired by a man named Herzog to track down and recover a valuable jewel called l’Etoile du Tricherie from a young jewel thief named Genevieve Darcenaux, who had stolen it from him. At first, the woman’s life was saved by a young thief she met named Remy Lebeau, Gambit. However, Sabretooth would get his revenge on Gambit by kidnapping both Genevieve and Gambit’s adopted brother, Henri, and then forcing Remy to hand over the jewel, and decide which one he would save, and which one of the two he would drop off the spires of Notre Dame cathedral. Gambit chose Genevieve, only learning at the last moment that she truly loved him (revealed in X-Men (vol. 2) #33)

Eventually emerging as a costumed villain, Sabretooth soon battled Iron Fist for the first time, having kidnapped the Rand Corporation hired detective, Jeryn Hogarth, (Iron Fist (vol. 1) #14), he was easily defeated in hand to hand combat by Danny Rand. Sabretooth would then turn up as a thug attacking innocents in the New York City Subways, until he was stopped by Ms. Marvel (Ms. Marvel (vol. 1) #24).

Shortly after Wolverine joined the X-Men, Sabretooth would pay him an anonymous visit in New York City, killing a woman who hit on him in a bar, and then stalking him and ambushing at Battery Park, slashing his throat and throwing him into the sea to die. Wolverine’s healing factor would save him, and he’d manage to climb aboard the Staten Island Ferry, and his healing factor would save him (revealed in Classic X-Men #10).

Business would be put aside for Creed on one of Wolverine’s birthdays, of course. For the first time, another member of the X-Men would learn of Sabretooth’s existence. He would kidnap the young charge of the school, Kitty Pryde, and hunt down and assault Logan while he was at dinner with his girlfriend, Mariko Yashida. He then would then try and make Wolverine choose which one of the two he would kill, and after Logan picked Kitty, Sabretooth would realize she had freed herself. Logan would take Mariko to safety, and Kitty would ignite a gas main in the restaurant, blowing it up with Sabretooth inside (revealed in Wolverine: First Class#2). Kitty, in exchange for keeping quiet about the existence of Wolverine’s old enemy to the X-Men, would get a ride for herself and her friends in a limo driven by Logan to a Dazzler concert.
Sabretooth was next reunited with his employer, the Foreigner, who claimed to have helped train the mercenary at some point. He attempted to attack the Black Cat, and in a vicious display of ferocity, he nearly bit through her leg… were it not for the lucky break that he chomped down a crowbar hidden underneath her boot. He summarily was defeated by Spider-Man after his first run-in with the heroine, and later defeated by the Black Cat personally when trying to get revenge for his first defeat (Spectacular Spider-Man (vol. 1) #116, 119).
Later, while recruiting for mastermind villain Mister Sinister, Gambit was asked to gather a group of mutants on his behalf to form a group known as the Marauders, with Sabretooth as a key member. Sinister created clones of several of the Marauders so that he has a loyal group of lackeys after the originals die, but supposedly Sabretooth could not be cloned. The original purpose of the Marauders, was to carry out the “Mutant Massacre" of the Morlocks. As the horror began, Gambit tried to prevent it from happening, only to be attacked and wounded by Sabretooth, who went on to dive into the fray, wantonly killing for his employer (revealed in Uncanny X-Men #350). Sabretooth would gravely injure Caliban, who would only be spared when Leech and Artie pulled him into a drainage pipe that was too large for him too follow (X-Factor (vol. 1) #10). Artie would psionically contact the Power Pack, who would arrive to rescue the trio of mutants from the pipe, holding Sabretooth and the Marauders at bay to do so. Sabretooth would eventually be negated when Alex Power would collapse part of a tunnel on him, temporarily trapping him (Power Pack #27). Sabretooth would escape, and nearly kill the Morlock known as Healer, only to be confronted by his longtime nemesis, Wolverine, who would fight him off, trapping him under another collapsed wall (Uncanny X-Men #212). Sabretooth also taunted Blockbuster for originally fleeing when he encoutnered Thor, and, trying to prove he was as strong as advertised, Blockbuster would seek out a rematch with the Odinson, one he would not walk away from (Thor (vol. 1) #374). Separated from all of his allies, Sabretooth would attempt to build himself a home in the subway tunnels beneath New York City, scaring off teenaged gangs there, and kidnapping a girl, whom he planned to keep as a mate. Daredevil, however, would battle Sabretooth to rescue her, and he would apparently return to the Marauders for a time (Daredevil (vol. 1) #369). Sabretooth would then go on the offensive, trying to attack the X-Men at the Xavier mansion where he would attempt to kill the telepath, Psylocke. Wolverine would intervene, and while Sabretooth was distracted in his brawl with Logan, Psylocke would read his thoughts, and learn that it was Mr. Sinister who orchestrated the Mutant Massacre (Uncanny X-Men #213).

Sabretooth and the Marauders then were sent to attack Polaris, assaulting her before Malice took control of her body (Uncanny X-Men #219). After failing to capture Madelyne Pryor for Mr. Sinister after she escaped from him, Essex voiced his displeasure with his Marauders, and Sabretooth would take offense and attempt to attack him, only to be choked to the point of near-asphyxiation. When he would again try to reach Maddie in the hospital to finish her off, Rogue would intervene, and punch him clear out of the building (Uncanny X-Men #221). Sabretooth would recover, and attempt to finish off Wolverine during their attack with help from Scalphunter and Scrambler, only to see Logan escape into a nearby river (Uncanny X-Men #222).

During “Inferno”, Sabretooth and the Marauders were ambushed in their base, the co-opted Morlock Tunnels, by the X-Men, and he was quickly negated when blinded by Dazzler (Uncanny X-Men #240). After his vision returned, and the Marauders would regroup to attack the X-Men at the Xavier Mansion, Sabretooth would get the drop on Psylocke, and quickly try to slash her throat, only to have his mind completely fried by her use of a psychic blast (Uncanny X-Men #243). After the mansion collapsed, it would be the New Mutants who would find Sabretooth in the rubble, and thanked them by attacking them, before being quickly knocked out by Cannonball. In the ensuing battle between Sebastian Shaw and Magneto, however, Sabretooth would apparently slip away unnoticed (New Mutants (vol. 1) #75).

Sabretooth later hunted Wolverine in Madripoor, killing two thugs and leaving a warning note to anyone in that city that no one was to kill the man known as “Patch” except for him (Wolverine (vol. 2) #10)

Sabretooth and the Constrictor then again run afoul of Iron Fist, Misty Knight, and and Colleen Wing , (Power Man and Iron Fist #66), before finally opting to become partners with the Constrictor, and the two would act as enforcers for major criminal interests. With the Constrictor, Creed began to stalk and kill human beings for pleasure, which earns him the newspaper title of the serial killer known as "The Slasher". He also attacked Misty Knight again during this rampage (Power Man and Iron Fist #78). Later, with the Constrictor, he attacked Harmony Young, but they were defeated by Power Man (Power Man and Iron Fist #84). This defeat soured the partnership between the Constrictor and Sabretooth, and in typical Sabretooth form, he nearly kills the Constrictor to assure they wouldn’t work together again.

Working away from the Marauders finally, as a hired mercenary, Sabretooth assassinated the Prime Minister of Symkaria, leaving behind evidence that falsely implicated the CIA in his death. Spider-Man frantically searched for the man who really hired Sabretooth, a soldier in the fanatical Underground Liberated Totally Integrated Mobile Army To Unite Mankind (ULTIMATUM), acting on behalf of the Red Skull. Meanwhile, Captain America and the Symkarian mercenary Silver Sable traveled to Mexico, Sabretooth's last known location. Cap and Sable "convinced" a local bandito to take them to the mutant killer, but when their cover is blown, Sabretooth fled into a ruined temple, with Sable in hot pursuit. Quickly outclassed, Sable was beaten and bloodied by Sabretooth, until she tricked him into charging into an unstable wall, which collapsed onto him and buried him alive for a time (Amazing Spider-Man (vol. 1) #324).

Sabretooth would return to the Morlock Tunnels, obsessed with finishing the job he started for Mr. Sinister, and he would kill more of the sewer-dwelling mutants, who had just begun to return to their homes. One of his victims may have been Grover, who was missing and unable to be found by his friends Chicken Wings and Mole. Sabretooth, from the shadows, would attack the latter two, and after a noble attempt to buy Mole time to escape and get help, Sabretooth would kill Chicken Wings and then stalk both Mole, and Archangel, while he himself was being hunted by Caliban (X-Factor (vol. 1) #51). As Archangel attempted to help Charlotte Jones with the investigation of Chicken Wings’ death, he would be shot with a sniper rifle by Sabretooth, before Archangel would close, and fight him to a standstill (X-Factor (vol. 1) #52). When Caliban would inexplicably attack Archangel after stumbling upon the brawl between the two, Sabretooth would escape, and head to the sewers, where he would lie in wait until a foolish Mole would return, and be murdered by him (X-Factor (vol. 1) #53).

Sabretooth’s campaign of ethnic cleansing against subterranean carriers of the X-gene would continue, as he would murder the Morlock known as Samson, and then attack and wound Rictor before starting to tussle with Caliban (New Mutants (vol. 1) #90). Caliban, gaining some measure of revenge, would break Sabretooth’s spine, and leave him for dead, believing it would be enough to kill him (New Mutants (vol. 1) #91).

Sabretooth battled Wolverine again when his nemesis found his way into the Morlock Tunnels after a fight with Albert and Elsie Dee, this time while claiming to be his father (Wolverine (vol. 2) #41). It would be revealed by genetic testing by S.H.I.E.L.D. experts in the wake of this fight that Sabretooth could not be Logan's father, however, as Sabretooth fell out of their helicopter transport, and into the East River (Wolverine (vol. 2) #42-43). He would recover and end up in an free-for-all melee in New York City against Wolverine, Lady Deathstrike, and the Hunter in Darkness in Times Square. When wounded by Emmy Doolin with mercury tipped bullets during this exchange, both Sabretooth and Wolverine had an odd reaction, where they started to remember their repressed memories from the Weapon X Project, including the fact that years earlier, they were partners (Wolverine (vol. 2) #45-46).

As all of the repressed memories of members of Weapon X continued to return, the project’s recovery androids, known as Shiva, tried to capture all of them to be reprogrammed. Sabretooth managed to fight off one of the Shiva robots in Madison Square Garden during a pro-wrestling match with some help from John Wraith, and both realized their troubles were just beginning ( Wolverine (vol. 2) #60-61). Of course, John Wraith did realize that Creed could not be trusted, and wired him with plastic explosives to ensure his loyalty, and when he still called the bluff and began to tangle with Logan, Silver Fox would finally arrive to join them, and shoot Creed, for his attempt to kill her years earlier. In fact, Logan, Silver Fox, and Wraith would seemingly take turns abusing the captive Sabretooth during their hunt for Aldo Ferro. Sabretooth would end up captured by one of Aldo Ferro’s psionic illusions, ( Wolverine (vol. 2) #62).

Soon, suffering from severe bloodlust, Sabretooth hired the telepathic mutant Birdy as a partner (or as she often appeared to be, his hostage) to help him keep his urges in check by providing what he calls "the glow," a psionic blast that satiates his bloodlust and numbs the pain of his suppressed memories as a youth, allowing himself control for short periods. Sabretooth then was hired by both the Fenris Twins and Matsu’o Tsurayaba to track down Wolverine and find out the Carbonadium Synthesizer’s present day location, bringing him into conflict with both the X-Men and Maverick (X-Men (vol. 2) #6-7).

Sabretooth would soon be confronted at his safe house, where he was staying with Birdy, by a villain calling himself the Tribune, who hired him to kill Mystique, implanting a bomb in his chest to ensure he’d obey his orders (Sabretooth (vol. 1) #1). Upon confronting his former lover, Raven, in Paris, Sabretooth would be set on fire by Mystique, and end up confronting her at the top of the Eiffel Tower, where she would be meeting Wolverine for dinner(Sabretooth (vol. 1) #2). Before the two of them could renew their rivalry, Mystique revealed that she was impersonating Leni Zauber years earlier, and from that union Creed had a son, Graydon, who was likely who hired him to kill Mystique. Creed and Birdy fled, attempting to find out the identity of Tribune, and his relationship to Graydon (Sabretooth (vol. 1) #3). As it turned out, Graydon hated both his parents for being monsters who abandoned him, and he had developed an intense hatred for mutants, especially his father, and he had founded the Friends of Humanity, a hate group, specifically to target his species. Simply to hurt his father, Graydon stabbed Birdy, murdering her, which made Sabretooth admit, he really must be his son. Without the "glow", though, Sabretooth slipped into a murderous killing spree of heights that were shocking, even for him (Sabretooth (vol. 1) #4).

This culminated in a clash with Maverick, whom Sabretooth defeated, taunting him that he cannot be stopped. He escapes, claiming only Wolverine can do what needs to be done to the psychotic Creed as he leaps out a window. Maverick approaches the X-Men about dealing with the threat of Creed, as he went to Japan to seek out a telepath, comatose since the nuclear bomb that destroyed Hiroshima, to provide him with “the glow”. When that unnamed psychic mind-links and the team discovers Creed's psychosis was rooted in his time as a CIA operative: on a mission, he slaughtered a target, his wife (a "freebie" for Creed), and a little boy. The look in the boy's eyes has followed Creed ever since. Ultimately, Sabretooth attacks Charles Xavier, leader of the X-Men. As Xavier infiltrates Creed's mind, he discovers that every victim Sabretooth has killed is remembered by the villain. Xavier is confident this means Creed values human life, and there is hope for the mutant. Sabretooth is incarcerated, as a wanted murderer, in a holographic environment because Xavier does not want him to roam on the grounds. Sabretooth is angered, but grudgingly stays with the team, locked in a security cell for their protection. (X-Men Unlmited (vol. 1) #3).

The X-Men were all less than agreeable with Xavier’s decision to keep Creed at the mansion, and Psylocke found herself unable to telepathically give him “the glow”, and Jean Grey refused to do so, instead telekinetically abusing Creed and making him beg for it before walking away (X-Men (vol. 2) #28). He was even allowed to participate in training exercises with Psylocke, albeit with restraints around his mouth and claws so he could only do limited harm in case he lost control (X-Men (vol. 2) #29-30).

During this time, Emma Frost, comatose, would also be a guest of the mansion, and she would be a target of the X-Cutioner, who would sneak into the mansion to kill her while she was in this state, and less of a threat. Ironically, it would be Sabretooth who would smell the intruder’s presence, and warn Cable and Cyclops so they could save her in time (Uncanny X-Men #310). A short time later, though, Creed would attempt to escape the mansion, attacking Jubilee as he did so, and Bishop would track him down to return him to the Xavier Estate before he could harm anyone, with a little help from Jubilee to taser him (Uncanny X-Men #311).

Creed would also become a point of curiosity for Rogue, who would ask about some of Sabretooth’s past with her paramour, Gambit. He would reveal the story of their meeting in Paris, making her uncertain of if she could trust her heart to the Cajun thief (X-Men (vol. 2) #33).

Once the Phalanx would attack the mansion, it would be Banshee who would discover they had already captured and replaced everyone there except for Sabretooth, Jubilee, and Emma Frost with Phalanx duplicates. Realizing how desperate the situation was, Banshee would release Creed from his cell, and this quartet of mutants would escape the mansion and begin trying to locate as many mutants as they could to protect them from the Phalanx, who were trying to assimilate all of them, as a species (Uncanny X-Men #316). They would make their way to St. Louis to rescue Synch from Phalanx who were intent on capturing him for study, as well, and after they were confronted by the Phalanx-corrupted Stephen Lang, Sabretooth would use the distraction to separate himself from the group (X-Men (vol. 2) #36), only to return to aid them in their final battle against Harvest, before being knocked out, and eventually returned to containment at the mansion while unconscious (X-Men (vol. 2) #37).

Soon thereafter, Caliban, free of Apocalypse's control, kidnapped Jubilee, demanding he get to face Sabretooth, who he still had a grudge against for the Morlock Massacre. When Sabretooth arrives, he ends up saving Caliban and Shadowcat, who also arrived to help calm him, from a giant sewer octopus (I didn’t write that, I swear). Not to seem too heroic, Sabretooth mauls Caliban's face, and Caliban fled (Uncanny X-Men Annual #18).

Wolverine, who had left the team for a leave of absence after his adamantium was removed by Magneto, soon returned to the mansion, disgusted to learn Creed was being kept there. He knew it was only a matter of time before he returned to his base nature, and predictably, the villain escaped to try to go on another killing spree. After a pitched battle, Sabretooth dared Wolverine to finish him off, and Logan honored his request by putting his middle claw up through Sabretooth’s lower jaw, and into his brain, apparently lobotomizing him (Wolverine (vol. 2) #89-90).

The newer, gentler Sabretooth, with brain damage and free from the need for "the glow", was frequently counseled and coddled for by X-Force member Boomer, who believed he was helpless and had the mind of a child after his fight with Logan (X-Force (vol. 1) #44). During this time, Wolverine is adamant about the potential risk Sabretooth poses, and disagrees with only keeping him in the holographic Danger Room, arguing with both Storm and Cannonball about it while threatening Creed that he knew he was pretending (Uncanny X-Men #323), Wolverine (vol. 2) #92. Caliban again attempts to kill Creed at the mansion, only to be talked out of it by Cable(X-Force (vol. 1) #45). As Boomer continued to leave Sabretooth a saucer of milk every night, she was warned about him faking his docile nature by Wolverine, who she shouted at in anger in Creed’s defense (X-Force (vol. 1) #46). Eventually, Sabretooth would begin talking, asking Boomer to be let outside, although he appeared to be terrified when confronted with a hologram of Wolverine in the Danger Room (X-Force (vol. 1) #47). Finally, all of X-Force intervened with Professor X, ordering Boomer away from Creed, as he had visibly started to regress, and it was becoming clear that he was as savage as ever (X-Force (vol. 1) #48). Gambit was still frustrated over Creed’s presence, taunting him in the Danger Room with holograms of all the people he’d killed, and Beast began advising Professor Xavier to give up on attempts to cure him of his homicidal rages, for it appeared to simply be in his nature to kill (Uncanny X-Men #326).

Creed, realizing his ruse was exposed, began taunting Professor Xavier for even trying to rehabilitate him. Seeing how angry Boomer was at him tricking her, taunted and goaded her until she lost her temper and attacked him with her powers. However, this only destroyed the restraints holding him in place, and allowed him to attack her. Psylocke rushed in to save her life, and she attempted to use her psychic knife to disable Creed again. However, this no longer works because of his brain injury from Wolverine, and furthermore, it rendered him resistant to telepathic detection and control. Unleashed fully, Creed shredded Psylocke with his claws, requiring her life to be saved by the Crimson Dawn (Uncanny X-Men #328).

Creed was then tracked by Caliban, who was again beaten and wounded by Creed, as he fled the mansion. The original X-Men then left the mansion in pursuit of Creed, and in this battle, Sabretooth badly injured the wings of Archangel before being taken down by an optic blast to the head by Cyclops. Val Cooper and government agents moved in to attempt to capture Sabretooth, only to discover he was still alive, and he tried to seize a rifle from one of the men trying to collect him. All the other agents on hand opened fire on Creed, riddling him with bullets and apparently killing him. This was all a deception on the government’s part, however, to recruit Sabretooth back into government employ (Sabretooth: In the Red Zone #1).

He is turned over to the custody of Dr. Valerie Cooper, who with help from the scientist Dr. Pole, fitted him with an explosive restraining collar that did not allow him to attack his teammates, and forced him to participate as a member of the government-sponsored X-Factor team against the advice she gave her supervisors, to simply kill him (X-Factor (vol. 1) #119-121). Sabretooth’s first mission would be to hunt down one of the Hounds, which was sent to kill Mystique at Belle Fourche Dam (X-Factor (vol. 1) #122-123). From the start, Sabretooth acted as obnoxious as he could to his teammates, referring often to his past dalliances with Mystique, Polaris’ time as a Marauder while enslaved by Malice, and often calling Wild Child a “diluted knock-off of himself”. He then would be brought back out, reluctantly, by the members of X-Factor when Onslaught attacked, to assist them against the forces of Dark Beast and his Brotherhood, who were trying to unleash Sentinels. Sabretooth ended up not only fighting Dark Beast after rejecting his offer to join him, but helping find the real Henry McCoy from Earth-616, who he had kidnapped and replaced, using his enhanced senses (X- Factor (vol. 1) #125-126).

In the wake of this event, Mystique and Sabretooth would then go on the run from X-Factor and infiltrate the SHIELD Helicarrier by ambushing an agent. In the SHIELD morgue; there they find the body they're searching for, and open it in order to find a capsule containing information they need that Destiny had once told Raven where the information would be found. They're then ambushed in turn by AIM, but go on the offensive where Sabretooth claws. Mystique flew them out of the Helicarrier with patagalia, struggling to carry Sabretooth, but crashed after she was shot. They fled to Mystique’s safe house to review data they stole from the Helicarrier’s Morgue was on a HYDRA agent named Catalyst, whose research they wished to destroy as payback after having been tortured by him years earlier. They believed Destiny had killed him, but he survived. The capsule provided a map to his fortress, and they intend to destroy him, and his notes as a poor substitute for getting revenge directly on him for his crimes. Of course, more assassins burst in and attacked the duo. Sabretooth dispatches several, so they earn a temporary reprieve and can start on their mission. They’re again shot down, this time out of their plane as they approach the HYDRA base, and they're forced to go on foot over the island, arriving in the middle of a war between AIM and HYDRA. Mystique snuck inside the compound as Sabretooth battled, and was captured and brought to Catalyst. When Sabretooth returned to try and kill Catalyst himself, Mystique was freed from her imprisonment by a stray blast by one of the guards. Catalyst would attempt to flee, only to see Mystique track him down, and in the form of Destiny, knock him off his fortress and into the moat of piranhas he had around it, killing him. Mystique and Sabretooth then returned to X-Factor, although Creed was disappointed about not getting to kill Catalyst himself (Sabretooth & Mystique #1-4).

After being interviewed by Bastion about his role on the team, and his feelings about his teammates (X- Factor (vol. 1) #127), Sabretooth participated in a manhunt to locate a group of mutant fugitives for the government, all of whom turned out to be Jamie Madrox, the Multiple Man, who was believed dead (X- Factor (vol. 1) #128). Sabretooth at least went along with the team’s ruse to replace Madrox with Mystique to allow him to escape custody (X- Factor (vol. 1) #129) before joining the team in trying to bring her back when she fled to go and kill their son, Graydon Creed. Although, upon seeing his father, Graydon was less than pleased about his bodyguards, and probably should have been, given how he ended up shot dead by an unknown assassin (while it looked like Mystique had an alibi, it turns out she set up a remote firing rifle) (X- Factor (vol. 1) #130).

One day at X-Factor’s headquarters, Wild Child would receive word that an ex-girlfriend of his named Loi Bradt would be paralyzed with poisoned darts while with her new boyfriend, and both would be killed by the Yevgraf brothers, two ex-KGB assassins turned serial killers. Wild Child would go to investigate, then track the brothers hoping to capture them alive. Sabretooth knew the murderers from a mercenary mission during the Cold War, and would volunteer to go along, hoping to push Wild Child into becoming a killer. When Sabretooth caught up to Yuri Yevgraf, who was addicted to painkillers, he took a moment to eat a handful of his sedatives, realizing that it numbed him to the pain caused by his restraining collar that prevented him from killing innocents. Creed took the time to break Yuri’s neck, and gathered as many of his painkiller pills up as he could, hoping to make use of them later. Komarovsky Yevgraf, the other brother, would die when fleeing from Wild Child and accidentally impale himself on a meathook in a slaughterhouse. (Sabretooth: Back to Nature #1).

After their relationship with their employer soured, and X-Factor faked their deaths to act independently, and not under government auspices, and handle investigations like that into people sent by Graydon Creed by Trevor Chase, the supposed grandson of Destiny (X- Factor (vol. 1) #132-135), Sabretooth would pop his acquired painkillers, rip of his restraining collar, then ambush his teammates, one by one, critically injuring Forge, Polaris, Wild Child, and Mystique, while also causing Shard to “discorpreate”. He admitted he had been a "sleeper" agent from the Hound program, placed there with the mission of executing X-Factor members if the government could not control them (X-Factor (vol. 1) #136).

Completely unchecked, Sabretooth goes on a killing spree, murdering both the parents of Trevor Chase. Before he can kill the boy as a way to get revenge on Mystique, though by his new handler in the Hound program, Stone, arrives and saves the child from Creed’s wrath (X- Factor (vol. 1) #137). On his next mission, however, it became clear to Stone that Creed was a murderer, plain and simple, when he executed a low level telepath named Marlena Petrokova. Creed would then detect a familiar scent, and realize he was being stalked by Omega Red, who had worked out an arrangement with Elena Ivanova that if he could locate and kill Creed, and Elena would tell him the location of the Carbonadium Synthesizer. After being wounded, Omega Red would escape Creed, and still itching to kill, Creed would track Stone to his home, catch him getting out of the shower, and slash his throat, murdering him (X-Factor (vol. 1) #138).

Returning to mercenary work, Sabretooth was hired by Sebastian Shaw for a unique mission, to get close to Warren Worthington and find the prototype for Forge’s Neutralizer Gun, which was being reverse engineered at one of his science research facilities. To do so, Creed would have his mind placed in Wolverine’s body, and vice-versa, by the mysterious Ms. Hoo. However, Creed failed in this mission, and was returned to his own body (X-Men Unlimited (vol. 1) #17).

Soon thereafter, Creed would find himself not the hunter, but the hunted, when Elena Ivanova would track him down, attempting to get revenge for the death of her mother by killing him. Instead, she would accidentally blow the cover of Maverick’s intel man, Gregor Kokoschka, and Creed would murder him before easily defeating Elena in a fight, since her telepathy had little to no effect on him. Maverick would arrive in time to save her from being murdered by him in the New York City sewers, although, she would end up comatose after trying to shut down Creed’s mind, and end up reliving her mother’s death, putting her in a state of shock. Sabretooth would try and move in for the kill, only to have Maverick blast a water main to create a flood of water to push Sabretooth down the tunnels, while he brought himself and Elena to safety (Maverick #6-7).

Sabretooth would inexplicably return to torment Wild Child, trying to goad him into attacking Val Cooper, who had been a part of the original training to make him a government operative and counteract his feral side. Instead of attacking Val, though, Wild Child helped free her from Creed without any harm, and both fled the scene, as wanted fugitives (X- Factor (vol. 1) #142).

From a still undetermined benefactor, Sabretooth was given his own adamantium skeleton and claws, and he immediately attempted to use them on Wolverine, ambushing his rival during his wedding to Viper in Madripoor, and attempting to kill him, Kitty Pryde, and his new bride (Wolverine (vol. 2) #126). With a kidnapped Kitty Pryde, Creed began to try and gain political control of the island, killing off any would-be rivals. (Wolverine (vol. 2) #127). However, after another fight between Wolverine and Sabretooth, which ends in a draw, Kitty Pryde escaped Creed’s influence and Viper supplants both of them and ends up wresting the title of ruling prince of Madipoor for herself (Wolverine (vol. 2) #128).

Sabretooth would then be approached by Apocalypse (who may have been the one who gave him the adamantium skeleton). Sabretooth would be offered physical upgrades by the ancient mutant, and be made into his Horseman, Death, if he could defeat Wolverine in a one-on-one fight. Overcoming the long odds and Creed having adamantium while he did not, Wolverine triumphed, and Apocalypse took the adamantium from Sabretooth and bonded it to Wolverine. After this process, Sabretooth would be left for dead by En Sabah Nur, likely to prove if he was truly still a survivor (Wolverine (vol. 2) #145).

Defeated, Sabretooth decided to hide out in the mountains of the Andes, where he would lead a cult of natives who called themselves the Blood Tigers, and they would foolishly worship him as their God of the Hunt. Gambit and Courier would track him to this location, needing him to help find one of Mr. Sinister’s labs, since he was the only Marauder who hadn’t been cloned yet, and all the clones are given DNA failsafes that don’t allow them to betray Essex. Supposedly, Sabretooth claimed he was dying at this point, as his healing factor had not fully recovered since his adamantium was forcefully removed by Apocalypse. (Gambit (vol. 3) #8). The trio of Gambit, Courier, and Creed would break into Sinister’s lab, and Gambit would be asked to barter Creed for a device to determine a traitor within the X-Men. Instead, Gambit cut off one of Courier’s fingers, and offered that to Sinister instead, to not allow Sinister to permanently have access to a loyal Sabretooth (Gambit (vol. 3) #9). Owing a debt to Creed for this, Gambit would offer to repay it by stealing something made of adamantium for Sabretooth, as a side effect, he had become dependent on having the substance in his body. Gambit would attempt to steal an organ donor’s adamantium stomach, only to have a run-in with the Constrictor, who would offer to give part of his adamantium coils to help his one-time partner Sabretooth (Gambit (vol. 3) #11).

With his body mended, Sabretooth would apparently stay in Mr. Sinister’s employ for a bit, until at his lab, both would be attacked by the Neo, Domina, who would snap Sabretooth’s neck before killing Essex, forcing him to cheat death yet again (revealed in X-Men (vol. 2) #102).

Creed then joined Mystique's new Brotherhood of Mutants III, helping her kidnap several human members of the London Hellfire Club, and use them as lab rats for her own strain of the Legacy Virus, designed to afflict humans. One of those present, Lord Imperial Gordon Phillips, would find out he was a mutant when the viral strain did not affect him. He refused to join Mystique’s cause, so Sabretooth snapped his neck, killing him. He then would travel with Mystique as added muscle as she went to set explosives in the Muir Island facility, defending her from an attack on Wolfsbane before she could flee to try to warn others of their intrusion (Uncanny X-Men #388). Before Creed could catch up to Wolfsbane, and murder her, however, he was stopped by Bishop, who knocked him out clear out of the facility with one of his bio-blasts (Bishop: The Last X-Men #16).

Later, he is forced to become a member of a re-launched Weapon X program, after being knocked out with poison gas tailored to his physiology and forced to be an operative solely for them (Wolverine (vol. 2) #160), before being fully undergoing the adamantium bonding process again, having his strength further enhanced, and being given inhibitor devices to prevent him from attacking his employers (Wolverine (vol. 2) #162-164). His first mission for Weapon X would be to break into the superhuman prison known as “The Cage”, and capture Logan (Wolverine (vol. 2) #165). Creed would then be sent to also capture Maverick, with John Wraith. While Creed would successfully bring in Maverick after slashing him and throwing him out of a window many stories up, Wraith would be wounded in the attack, and Creed would apparently brutally murder him, rather than get him medical attention (Wolverine (vol. 2) #166).

Sabretooth would then be sent on several recruitment missions by Weapon X to locate and bring in other superhumans to the organization’s cause. Among them were Garrison Kane, Mesmero, Sauron, Wild Child (whose throat he would tear out, rendering him temporarily mute) (Weapon X: The Draft- Agent Zero #1), and the badly wounded Maverick, who would begin using the moniker Agent Zero (Weapon X: The Draft- Agent Zero #1).

He was then personally sent to bring in the mercenary, Deadpool, and convince him to join as well (Deadpool (vol. 1) #57). Sabretooth, however, was not the perfect soldier for the group, killing humans by the dozens in between assigned missions (two victims alone shown in X-Men Unlmiited (vol. 1) #33, and many more inDeadpool (vol. 1) #59). The Director of Weapon X still was willing to keep him, however, given he would never turn down an order to kill mutants, such as when he assassinated the rogue Weapon X operative, Copycat (Deadpool (vol. 1) #59). However, this mission would of course cause Deadpool to be outraged, and attempt to avenge his one-time girlfriend. Creed would be helped out by the Director during their fight, who would apply another target-specific gas that would start to liquify Deadpool’s body, and as he was supposdly near death, he would almost suffocate Sabretooth to death by shoving his whole degenerating arm down his throat to choke him (Deadpool (vol. 1) #60). Sabretooth would survive, however, and attend Deadpool’s supposed funeral, albeit to taunt Wolverine, and threaten that he was next on his list (Deadpool (vol. 1) #61).

Sabretooth would then enact his plan to take down Logan, recruiting both Omega Red and Lady Deathstrike, independently of Weapon X, to attack Logan’s loved ones and keep him distracted. Then, stealing the access codes from Brent Jackson and the Weapon X director, Sabretooth would use a device enabled by the mutant, Leech, a captive of Weapon X, to temporarily shut down Wolverine’s mutant powers from a distance (Wolverine (vol. 2) #170-173). After Deathstrike and Omega Red captured Wolverine for Creed, though (Wolverine (vol. 2) #170-173), he teleported away, avoiding paying them for their services, or allowing them to kill Wolverine themselves. This teleport, though, allowed Weapon X to locate their rogue operative, and track him to where he had murdered Wolverine’s adopted daughter, Amiko, and revealed to Wolverine that his repressed memories were supposedly from his own healing factor psychologically blacking them out, as well. Creed would have the depowering device with Leech used against him as well, and Wolverine would claw him in the neck, forcing him to teleport away, rather have to face Weapon X that day (Wolverine (vol. 2) #175).

With his betrayal of the Weapon X program, Sabretooth would become one of its targets, and to try and limit their chances of catching him, he took files on several mutants they hoped to recruit with him when they left. Before they could successfully recruit the mutant teleporter, Locus, Sabretooth would track her down and murder her first (Weapon X (vol. 2) #1). When Wild Child and Aurora were sent to find another teleporter a short time later, it turned out that the person never existed, and Sabretooth entered the file for the fictitious person to lie in wait as a trap for other Weapon X operatives. He badly mutilated the face of Aurora, forcing Wild Child to watch him disfigure his old flame (Weapon X (vol. 2) #2). Finally, Weapon X opted to send Maverick aka Weapon Zero, after Creed, and he defeated him, bringing him back to the project as their prisoner (Weapon X (vol. 2) #3). Creed then was put under the influence of the powers of Mesmero by the project, who still hoped to retain him for his talents (Weapon X (vol. 2) #4). Creed then was brought along on the team’s next mission, as they began collecting mutants, such as the Taylor family, to bring to the Neverland Prison Camp (Weapon X (vol. 2) #5). On a much more personal mission, Malcolm Colcord, the Weapon X director, would take Sabretooth with him to his ex-wife’s new home, where he would have Creed assault, and help him capture her new fiancée (Weapon X (vol. 2) #6). In time, however, Mesmero would lose his confidence, and his ability to wield his mind control powers after the death of his mother, and Sabretooth’s backstabbing nature returned. He took note of the Weapon X project’s Dr. Windsor, who was helping inmates “escape” from the facility secretly (Weapon X (vol. 2) #8-9). With the help of Dr. Windsor, who was actually Mr. Sinister in disguise, Sabretooth would escape the Weapon X project again, and this time, the Director would send Marrow after him, emphasizing what Creed did to her friends in the Morlocks when she was a child to motivate her (Weapon X (vol. 2) #10). Sabretooth, however, would hide right under the Weapon X compound, the last place, he thought, anyone would think to look for him (Weapon X (vol. 2) #11). Marrow, however, did find him there, and in single combat, defeated him, eventually washing him out of a drainage pipe and off a cliff. (Weapon X (vol. 2) #12).

Sabretooth would then return to work as an independent mercenary, stumbling across the path of a woman named Bonnie, who was infected with a virulent plague that would be activated in about a day, and kill millions. Enraged when he was left with no choice but to kill her himself, as he had developed an attraction for Bonnie, Creed hunted down and killed every person from the organization that did harmed Bonnie, from the lowest soldier, to all the scientiests, to the men calling the shots at the top (Sabretooth: Mary Shelley Overdrive #1-4).

Sabretooth would then take a job to help steal the legendary Identity Disc, which contained the secret identities of every superhuman, and every S.H.I.E.L.D. agent from Advanced Idea Mechanics, along with fellow mercenaries the Vulture, Sandman, Deadpool, Juggernaut, and Bullseye. However, the entire theft was a ruse orchestrated by the Vulture, who helped steal it to conceal the fact that his daughter was an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., to save her career (Identity Disc #1-5).

He then would run afoul of a mysterious hunter named Teneber, who would nearly kill him with bullets that exploded whenever Creed’s healing factor tried to heal over them (X-Men Unlimited (vol. 1) #40).

Presumably when enquiring about other hired mercenary work, Sabretooth made a stop to the Hellfire Club, where he wound taunt Cyclops while he was drunk on sparkling wine. He would be warned with being banned from the premises by Sebastian Shaw, before still managing to threaten Wolverine at a men’s room urinal, before leaving, frustrated that the Hellfire Club’s rules prevented him from attacking any of his longtime enemies (New X-Men (vol. 1) #142).

Creed would then be hired by a group of mercenaries to hunt and kill a feral mutant in Canada known as “The Native”. In his first encounter with it, Sabretooth was eviscerated, knocked unconscious, and left for dead in a river. Realizing he didn’t have the skill to perform the task alone, Sabretooth contacted Wolverien, explaining that she was a dangerous escapee of the Weapon X program. As it turned out, the Native was a female, and Creed would end up deciding to betray and kill his employers, who wanted to capture the Native and harvest her for eggs to make more feral mutants. Instead, Creed would hunt down Wolverine and a drugged Native, and wound Logan while killing and dismembering the Native, as a way to hurt Logan, who had come to possibly love the mysterious female feral mutant (Wolverine (vol. 3) #13-19).

Later, in Canada, he encountered Sasquatch and the newest Wendigo. Sasquatch believes Creed may be responsible for some of the human deaths occurring there. Creed is seen setting traps and acting mysteriously. Sasquatch discovers Sabretooth is playing a twisted mind-game with the Wendigo before attempting to kill it. Sabretooth and the Wendigo fall into the Arctic Sea with Sabretooth biting the Wendigo's neck, and both are presumed dead by Sasquatch. After a fearsome battle in the Arctic Waters, Sabretooth emerged victorious with the hide of the Wendigo. (Sabretooth (vol. 2) #1-4).

Sabretooth was then hired by a mysterious corporation known as Megacorp to kill his one-time employer, Mr. Sinister. Creed was still aware that he was operating as Dr. Windsor, and tracked the mad geneticist down, only to be badly beaten by his latest experiments, the Hans clones. With some help from Scalphunter, however, who feared Sinister’s latest experiments would make him stop cloning the Marauders, and make him no longer a useful asset of his boss, Sabretooth would manage to defeat the clones, and allow his employers from Megacorp (actually John Sublime) to meet with Mr. Sinister (Weapon X (vol. 2) #26-28).

Sabretooth would later attack Philadelphia, and then the Xavier Institute, in a revamped Brotherhood led by Exodus. Sabretooth nearly killed Gambit and Mindee Cuckoo, only to be prevented from doing so by Icarus. Predictably, Sabretooth ended up scrapping with Wolverine, and lost the fight. Logan claimed to have killed Sabretooth, spreading him "all over the grass", but of course, Creed again survived to torment Wolverine again (X-Men (vol. 2) #161-164).

Soon Sabretooth was spotted fleeing a mysterious group of superhumans collectively known as The Children of the Vault, who Creed stumbled across on M-Day. Unfortunately for Creed’s partner, Pasco, his powers were lost in the Decimation, leaving him defenseless against the attacks of the Children, who killed him. Their reasons for pursuing him remained unknown, but two of them — Sangre and Serafina — were tracking him. Sangre activated a singularity generator that annihilated most of the town and killed all its citizens, except for a little girl whom Serafina deliberately shielded from the destruction so there would be a witness to what had happened. He later encountered two more of the Children — Aguja and Fuego. They attacked him and temporarily neutralized his healing factor, but he managed to escape regardless, only to end up at the Xavier Institute later that night seeking sanctuary. It is only when Rogue, the leader of the team, injected Nano-Sentinels into Sabretooth's blood that they take him along with their fight against the Children, a factor that one of the Children exploited. At one point, Cannonball saved his life during the battle. Sabretooth rewards him with some inside information: "The first time you turn your back, you're dead." Creed and the X-Men would go on to defeat the Children of the Vault (X-Men (vol. 2) #188-193)..Creed remained an unwilling member of Rogue’s X-Men, having to help try and track down and rescue her from the mad scientist Pandemic (X-Men (vol. 2) #194-196). He then joined the team on Cable’s island of Providence when it was attacked by the Hecatomb, evetually killing Cable’s information officer, Black Box, for it, was hurled into the middle of the Pacific Ocean by Cable (X-Men (vol. 2) #197-199, Cable & Deadpool #41)

Sabretooth renews his rivalry with Wolverine following the latter's return to the X-Mansion. A fight soon breaks out with Wolverine tossing Sabretooth through a window. During the fight, Wolverine thinks back to the time when Sabretooth had, supposedly, killed Silver Fox. He remembers Sabretooth saying "quod sum eris" and asks what it means. Sabretooth explains that it means "I am what you will be." Wolverine loses control and calls Sabretooth insane before placing his fist against Sabretooth's throat. Creed tells him if he extracts his claws, he will rip his heart out. Wolverine replies "Let 'er rip" and pops his claws into Sabretooth's throat. Wolverine regains consciousness and finds himself chained to the roof of the Blackbird. He quickly broke free of the chains and is surprised to find Sabretooth piloting the jet. Wolverine breaks into the cockpit and begins choking Sabretooth with one of the chains and causes him to crash. The two emerge from the flaming wreckage and, while healing from the injuries sustained in the crash, begin fighting once again until separated by a lightning bolt, courtesy of Wolverine's former teammate and current Queen of Wakanda, Storm. A short time later Sabretooth is chained up in the royal palace of Wakanda and complains to Wolverine, Storm, and the Black Panther. Sabretooth snapped the chains and escaped into the jungle, with the Panther quickly giving chase. The Panther caught up to Sabretooth and the two begin to fight, with Sabretooth quickly gaining the upper hand. He held the Panther off the ground by the neck, preparing to strike a killing blow, when Wolverine suddenly appeared and sliced off Sabretooth's right hand. Recently, a clandestine operation, under the command of the mysterious being known as Romulus had regressed Sabretooth's intelligence to little more than a wild animal with almost no ability to reason or use language. After Sabretooth killed Feral, Wolverine tracked him down and attacked him with the Muramasa Blade. The sword, aside from being highly durable, has the supernatural property of creating wounds that greatly nullify the efficiency of an accelerated healing factor. Sabretooth resisted at first, then broke through Romulus' alterations enough to ask Wolverine to kill him, to which Logan gladly obliged, decapitating Creed and leaving his body in the snow (Wolverine (vol. 3) #50-55).

During “Inferno”, Sabretooth and the Marauders were ambushed in their base, the co-opted Morlock Tunnels, by the X-Men, and he was quickly negated when blinded by Dazzler (Uncanny X-Men #240). After his vision returned, and the Marauders would regroup to attack the X-Men at the Xavier Mansion, Sabretooth would get the drop on Psylocke, and quickly try to slash her throat, only to have his mind completely fried when she pierced it with her psychic knife (Uncanny X-Men #243). After the mansion collapsed, it would be the New Mutants who would find Sabretooth in the rubble, and thanked them by attacking them, before being quickly knocked out by Cannonball. In the ensuing battle between Sebastian Shaw and Magneto, however, Sabretooth would apparently slip away unnoticed (New Mutants (vol. 1) #75)

Some fun Sabretooth facts-

* He has been defeated by cave-ins more than any other X-villain, I think, with four. This nearly edges out Magneto. He's also been washed away by torrents of flooding sewer water twice, which is pretty impressive for a non-Morlock.

* Has been shown a wide range of fighting ability, with having been taken down once by the Black Cat. And yet, he can also hold his own against Wolverine, Omega Red, and other superhumans who have held their own against entire teams of heroes or villains.

*His intelligence varies, having been outwitted by Leech, Artie, and Caliban one moment, and another being a CIA black ops agent, who also has found a way to hack into Weapon X Project computers to control their super-weapons.

* Lastly, the inconsistency of his intimidation factor. At one point, he was being openly mocked and beaten by all of Team X, and even Jubilee while they were after Aldo Ferro, and the next, most of the Marvel Universe pees their pants when he escapes custody and runs loose, the most profilic known serial killer alive.

* Is proven to have a tinier kronk than Wolverine, based on the "urinal scene" from Grant Morrison's "Assault on Weapon Plus" storyline in New X-Men. This is especially relevant.

Sabretooth is believed to have brutally attacked Wolverine’s lover, Silver Fox, while the two were staying on a Blackfoot Indian reservation. The details of this attack remain hazy, due to the memory implants both were given by Weapon X, however. Supposedly, Silver Fox managed to survive, but knocked out one of Sabretooth’s front teeth in the attack. Frank Tieri wrote it one way, Paul Jenkins seemed to go that route in "Origin"... and yet... after M-Day, Wanda's Whammy went and let him remember everything, and it's back to being memory alteration, this time not by Weapon X, but by Romulus.

I admit that it is hard not to like ST. Although he they should have stuck with Claremont's original intention of him he is nonetheless pure sadistic evil. you might want to tell that to Weapon X. Victor's an all-purpose killer. if he's used, it's implied that he's, both, expendable and under some limited form of control (ex. shock collar). his time with X-Factor wasn't problematic. they knew from the get-go that he would eventually escape (same w/ Mystique). Sabes was used to clean house.

I read Identity Disc and you are right, it was dissapointing. But I have to differ with you on comparing him his style with Bulls. The problem is that different writers write his persona differently. True, Sabretooth has always been a favourite villain of mine and Loeb killed him and Feral for little or no reason as far as I can tell. It didn't even build onthe plot of who Romulaus is and why he does what he does.

At the time I assuemd that the AOA Sabretooth in Exiles would be spending more time in the 616 timeline, but this does not seem to be the case.

Hopefully the dead Sabretooth will turn out to be a clone and the real 'tooth is still out there.

At present it seems that Loeb's is the touch of death, just look at Hulk for confirmation of that.

IMO Jeph Loeb didn't do that bad of a job, the story wasn't great or perfect but it was good and really it may have been the editors that dictated part of the story to connect with Origins because of Romulas. however i didnt like the whole black/blond thing.the lupine thing is a bit of a strech but Logan bloodline could have evolved from the lupines many cennturies ago without his parents really looking like lupines at all.

when you have the power loeb did, the power many comic writers would die for to write a big storyline like that ..doing an "ok" job is just bad. i dont know if he was pressed for time, or was given some odd guidelines before he decided to go "all out" but it felt like he was just toying with something he ocudl have done a better job with.
Doing an OK job is far better than writing something that's big, dumb and potentially damaging to the characters.

It's a One-Shot, not a MS - though it is part of a series of X-Men Origins comics. It's written by Kieron Gillen, who's hardly done any work for Marvel (he did do a Dazzler story in X-Men: Manifest Destiny #5) but has a series called Phonogram for Image. Just had a quick scan of X Men: Origins - Sabretooth, it seems like a good overview of Creed's life, with a few little gems thrown in.

The art is generally good, the story and dialogue seem will written. Will read it in more detail tonight.

Yeah, it did seem to mine a lot of the same origin territory that was already covered (and better), like in Hama's "Sabretooth" mini. And I like Panosian's art, but i'm not convinced he was really the right choice for the script here. A little too cartoony and light-hearted, would have preferred someone darker, more intimidating.

And i'm really starting to hate how they depict Creed as an average buff-dude with long fingernails instead of the snarling feral man-beast he originally was depicted as..

I'm happy that they actually got an actor to pull it off though, and not some wrestler who they didn't want to anything but growl and one-liners. I can't think of a decent actor who could really pull off Vic's kind of sadism and still be a physical giant.

If they could hide the fact that Tom Cruise is 5'1" for so long in films, I think they can manage to make a 5'10" guy look 6'8" or so. It's all in the perspective of the camera, if a cinematographer is dedicated enough.

After reading the issue properly I agree, this is why Sabretooth needs to be brought back in a limited series showing his past in more detail.

i think nathan jones would have been a great sabretooth in the first xmen movie where the acting wasnt a priority. he was huge and you could let hugh be as big as he wants to get without making nathan jones looking lacking.

I think everyone here felt a little short changed with the way Sabes died and the not so epic lines that came across during the the death. But I remember Wolverine mostly focusing on how Sabes deserved it because he terrorized women all the time.

Its true he did, but I felt it was way too narrow and specific. For all the things Sabes and Wolvie went through as enemies, I thought it went much more beyond the women.

I imagine if they ever showed Sabes and Wolverines last fight, making like an eternal struggle. Maybe just them fighting in a snowy field with lots of wood. Like animals. You would see them wasting each other but they dont show you who wins or exactly even the last attack. You just know they are bent on eternal struggle and your mind can imagine them locked in combat forever.

This was a funny little tidbit to come out of ECCC:

Fraction then relayed a story of how he was asked to pitch a Sabretooth story that would help elevate the character to the A-list of villains. The writer took the idea to heart and pitched an idea where Sabretooth hired a “shitbag, sleazeball” P.R. agent to help elevate his status. The agent would suggest things like, “Go kill a bus full of kids.” The audience roared as Fraction relayed other scenarios that could play out with this.

I appreciate the way Tim Seeley drew Sabretooth in Weapon X: First Class #1. Seeley's the guy who did Hack/Slash, a book about the last surviving girl from a horror film hunting the slashers from all the other ones. He made Creed look like a horror character, which is as it should be, I feel.

After seeing Gunless, I've been convinced that Tyler Mane could have pulled off the role if Sabertooth had been written better instead of a last minute addition to the script.

he's a great tracker and very good at black ops.

put him and mystique on the next "masters of evil" and the avengers are going to be putting out bush fires across the globe while the rest get organized.

Not sure that Sabes works best as a complete psycho, some of his best stories have been wheh he was trying and failing to fight against his nature, for example; in the X-Men, X-Force issues when he is a prisoner in the mansion and in the Mary Shelly Overdriver series. He also works well as an assassin who enjoys killing rather than a torturing psycho.

Sabretooth needs to be written better. Some writer just don't know how to write him. If written correctly, he could possibly support a good 12 issue mini. They need to go deep into his psyche. They have tried in the past, but nothing has really stuck yet.
