DBZ New Special

Has anyone else seen this? It was awesomely nostalgic, quick 30 minute fun reuniting the DBZ cast that kind of pokes fun at itself for how overpowered they had gotten. Special was actually written by Toriyama, which is a plus, and happens a couple years after Buu saga so no gt mentions (Bigger plus).

Animation is several steps up over the standard z episode, and they even had a redone version of Cha la for the opening.

Definitely recommend it to anyone who liked the series growing up.

They have it on the shonen site but the load times suck, easier to watch it on Youtube. http://www.youtube.com/user/KitaneeHanabi has the whole thing.

Did anyone catch Lunch/Launch in one of the last scenes after the fight? I did double take. I wanted them to go "where the hell have you been for the 14 years?!"

Well, that was entertaining. But my goodness, I'm glad I never watched DBZ in Japanese. Nearly every character sounds like they're 4 years old. And I thought some of the English voices were annoying. Hercule and Vegeta sounded fine, as did the female characters, but all the others sounded like babies.

So... why isn't Tarble a jerk? Every full-blooded Saiyan in the history of DBZ was a jerk except Goku. I call shenanigans!

As a side note, my favorite part was Tarble's scouter exploding. That was classic.

Tien's japanese voice actor passed away, unfortunately. They didn't get another one out of respect. Ditto about Chiotzu.

Anyway, I watched it a week ago. I enjoyed it. Nostalgia ride filled with fun fun fun. I wish I could go back in time and rewatch DB and DBZ as a kid.

I liked the Special. Good job actually ignoring anything that happened in GT but if thare is one complaint I must give it would be that Goku's Japanese voice seemed off.

Just watched it last night. I thought it was So Bad It Was Great, like a Fanfiction.Net story given the animated treatment, but then again, DBZ never was high art anyway.

A shame Piccolo got so little dialogue, and basically nothing to do. Ditto for Fat Buu.

Best part: Vegeta getting flushed and all formal upon meeting his sister-in-law.

I generally dislike everything that happened to DBZ post-Freeza saga, but that was kinda fun. I especially liked that Krillian, Yamcha, and Roshi all got moments there at the end. They are the best characters, all the Saiyans (except Goku) can eat it.

I was kind of baffled why she was around with the crew. It in some way didn't make sense. Also, Tien wasn't there.

They only turned into Gotenks to show off. Still, fusion was a little much. I guess Toriyama thought it would be more exciting that way.
