Just checked out those image refs and it still amazes me that
a) His original costume was the best
b) His last costume also looked good
c) That Excalibur costume, those shoulder pads....lol

Flight- that looks very much like some little sculpture thing i did once in high school... the idea was, we had to construct a diorama for sculpture class about a story/idea we wrote. I decided at the end of the year to repaint one of the little dudes i made into Colossus... if i can, i'll take a picture and post it. It's High-larious. -Dan

Thanks, just trying work more with colors. With Colossus, he has alot of blues so that is what I basically used. I also just tried to use the sort of line stuff on his face. I am sure if I hand drew it it would be more precise. I just always wondered why he never had that line stuff in his face because I think it would look cool.
What other ones are there for the Draw Me X?

I promised our very own Jack Flash I'd design a new costume for Colossus. This is what I came up with. I wanted something in black and white. I played around with the same X-Theme Emma had in Morrison's run and added some touches from Pete's classic costume. I also wanted it a little bit racier because...well, I'm a perv. And also because he's been through a big, huge, awful expereince and it's going to change him. I'd like to think it's going to make him a little more stark but also more open to possibilities. hence- this costume:

if you recall- in Petere's original costume there were blue leggings that disappeared when he went all metal-like. This costume has something similar. There's blue cloth running down the front from the collar to the boots. It holds the side panels and the front together.
But only in the front. His black legging deale goes through the crotch, over his ass and meets the side panels.
maybe someday I'll illustrate that view.

I got a really excellent book on anatomy and I've been going through it and using the photo references and studying up. This is based on one fo the pcitures in the book. I sketched it out and started shading and then kinda distractedly colossus-ized it.

I just found this forum during the weekend. What a great site!
Anyway, I decided to delve into the drawing call, and since I haven't attempted a Colossus in years, I chose him. Meant to do a full-body image, but I didn't size my drawing correcty!

I've always been staggered by the X-Men's bad rep in the Marvel Universe. Sure, the media push the "mutant menace" envelope, but is it realistic that the public would buy that at face value? I could see Colossus being one of the mutants who fascinated the public; he certainly cuts a more striking and photogenic figure than the Beast. In fact, I could see Colossus being highly popular among kids in the Marvel Universe, who would admire the "shiny, strong steel guy"!
