I´ve seen her all over the net and I absolutely LOVE the design, she looks just so adorably wacky.

She usualy appears carrying around a gynormous anchor.

I know her name is May but there´s five trillion Mays on the internet...

Yep May is from the Guilty Gear fighting game series.

Availible on PS2 and Xbox IIRC.

I did a quick youtube search and it does seem like a cool beat´em up.

I do tend to prefer 3d beat´em ups, though.. Soul calibur ruined me for 2d...

It also has something most fighting games lack nowaday, A CONSISTENT STORYLINE! :biggrin:

Why would a guy dress up in a very nun-esque outfit? That's what throws me off even more than his looks. I'm use to long-haired curly-locked guys with somewhat feminine features.

its a long, very strange story but its the norm for the GG-verse.

His parents raised as him as a girl. He's a twin and in the town he lived in having twins is some sort of bad omen so his parents kept his existence a secret and brought him up as a girl. It's weird and complicated

With more specifics:

Bridget is one of the twin sons of the wealthiest family in his hometown. His hometown has a legend that twin boys will bring the destruction of the town. Previously, the townsfolk simply killed one of the boys when twin boys were born. Bridget's family, in an attempt to spare his life, declared him a girl (twin boy and girl was okay, as well as twin girls), and raised him as such. On the other hand, Bridget knows he is a boy, and goes into bounty-hunting sense it seems a fairly masculine thing to do.

His storyline position in Guilty Gear is somewhat similiar to Sakura in SF: he's young, a green, and still developing his skills, but his potential seems high. Ky Kiske (head of the international police, and one of the major forces at the end of the war), Johnny (head of the Jellyfish Pirates, one of the strongest non-government forces on the planet), Venom (head of the Assassin's Guild), and Slayer (founder of the Assassin's Guild) all have blurbs in their fights with Bridget stating that the kid's got talent, and will be amazing with a bit of polishing.

And Johnny would like Bridget to not mention the fact that Johnny tried to pick him up while Johnny thought Bridget was a girl.

May is simpler. She's one of the orphans that Johnny picked up, her parents presumably dying during the war against the Gear Justice. Her Japanese heritage grants her considerable magic power, most easily shown in her ability to wield a 1-2 ton anchor for a weapon. More telling is her EX-version using Johnny's quickdraw iai technique.... with the blippin' anchor. May acts as Captain of the Mayship, the flagship of the Jellyfish Pirates, and is second to Johnny in that organization. All of the members of the ship (save Johnny) have a name relating to a month of the year. By the end of GGXX, with Johnny and May and Dizzy aboard, the Mayship is probably the highest concentration of fighters/power in the game.

Sesshomaru always struck me as a guy, but I had seen a fair bit of Takahashi's art by that point, so that might be why. Just seems to have a vary masculine face.

Thanks for all the Bridget background info, Melchoir, Young Avenger, and Master of Read. That's actually a pretty unique and neat background. At least there's a good backstory to this male Rosette Christopher. :wink:

Nah, the creator of Guilty Gear went on record as saying that Overture was an elseworlds rather than part of the overall continuity.

No, that's just some BS the censors came up with when they imported Final Fight to the US. They thought that cross dressing shemales weren't as bad as beating up girls :rolleyes: .

Yeah, I had a bit of a seizure when I saw what a clusterfuck it was continuity-wise. But Daisuke released a statement calling it an elseworlds shortly before the game itself game out.

So it was okay.

That's good then. Seriously. Ky hooking up with some Dizzy like Gear out of the blue? The entire world threatened by some alien threat and only That Man knows anything? Talk about major plot holes.

Unfortunately it's quite official now regardless of how it started. In Japan Poison is a pre-op tranny in America he's post-op. I think it's Capcom's way of punishing us all because of early 90's censorship.
