I could hardly find much redeeming quality about this book. The first part (in #24) at least had the sight of the Skrull invasion, but this?

We start off where #24 left off after the Hammer head Skrull pushed over the Jeep GW and Frank were in. Rampage stands over Frank and lets him know that he saw Frank kill the only woman Rampage loves in Mexico, on video. Frank doesn't deny it, then ping, Frank gets a round in the shoulder from a sniper. Ping again, and Frank gets a round in the leg. (Franks gets a lot of rounds in this issue). Rampage says he knows where the shooter is and goes to get him.

In the mean time GW gets rammed by Hammer head Skrull, and not a scratch. GW and the Shrull fight and GW stabs the Skrull in the back and that's that!!!
It seems these street level Skrulls are just grunts and all they have is shoulder weapons. GW tells Frank Rampage is a copkiller, and now Frank is stalking Rampage and they are both out for each others blood. Rampage and Frank meet and grapple when a charge comes in and blows the two of them up. GW reaches Rampage and Rampage asks where's Frank, but Frank is gone. In the background a SHIELD heicopter comes to rescue GW and Rampage because the Skrull war is over. Cross to the hospital and GW is concerned for Rampage (I don't know why since he gave Rampage up to Frank now, and his life ain't worth shit), and we see Rampages face is all cut up from the explosion. Frank, however has adamantium skin now, because he doesn't have a scratch, just torn clothes.

What this tells me is you put 3 SKrulls and a Super Skrull up against 3 hardened Warriors of earth, and the Skrulls are worth shit. The only thing that came out of this for me, was that Skrulls do stoop to becoming snipers in a ground fight.

There were times I was digging War Journal, towards the end it just made me want to cry. This issue made me happy it is going to be shelved.

Jigsaw Part 2! They have to come up with a fancy name for Jigsaw Clarke. Ramsaw!

don't worry it ends with the next issue (26) which is the last of the PWJ VOL 2,

this series will go down in comic book history as worse, (i think) then the angel punisher and the punisher in the mob story lines

been an utter **** series and has really tested my punisher collecting too the MAX...............

:evilangry: For $3.99 the art had better be top of the line. Someone needs to take the pencil away from Chaykin before he does anymore damage to my eyeballs. It looks like a Jr. High kid with a stroke drew this. When did he start drawing with his feet? Storyboards are drawn better. $3.99 my @$$!

What a terrible... terrible issue. One of the worst issues, I think. At least Hurwitz's work on MAX is consistently a good read.

I've tried a few times to get into this book. This issue was my latest attempt. I mean... I really like Punisher. He's a great character. I'm not just an Ennis fanboy who only wants to see Ennis' Punisher, as great of a Punisher as that is. I've really wanted to like Punisher War Journal.

But every time I check this book out there's something ridiculous in it. I get that it's not supposed to be as dark and hardcore as the MAX title, but come on.

I figured checking in on the Secret Invasion tie-in wouldn't be too bad. Those have proven hard to mess up. When in doubt, throw around some intense, Skrull-killing action. So at the very least, PWJ should be perfect for that, right? Bear in mind that I didn't read the previous issue. I flip through this one and see what looks to me like a Super Skrull. A... Hammerhead/Kingpin Super Skrull.

I've been told I'm too harsh on writers for their lame uses/concepts for Super Skrulls across the board. I'm sorry. I just want writers to put some actual thought into them and not just slap together power sets because they seem "neat" together. I thought part of the point of this event was that the Skrulls are being taken seriously again. But of all the stupid Super Skrulls I have seen... and there have been many...

A Hammerhead/Kingpin Super Skrull.

I need someone to hold me and tell me it was a bad dream.

i would also say good.

but consistently ???

no

so far in Hurwitz's run there has been some serious gaffs (IE the very average first issue of the arc, also the set up of the child killing, )

but i have too say it has been mostly great, the latest issue (64) is very good.

with Hurwitz i think, finding his feet character wise and story wise.

its been a hard act to follow (Ennis) , and it has done Hurwitz no favours....
