OH, MY GOD.

Wow. This game is a DC lover's DREAM. Justin Grey and Jimmy Palmiotti worked on the story and dialogue so you know it's accurate, and WOW is it fun to play not only Captain Marvel, but a PITCH PERFECT Captain Marvel!

This game is a blast. We couldn't stop playing. And I'm telling you, it looks fantastic on a big screen high definition tv. It's just so cool to be playing Batman fighting Raiden in the Batcave, with the batboat in the background.

We, my hubby and I, got to see some of the game while it was being developed, and security was tighter than at an Obama rally. But we were amazed at how great the designs were of Oa, Theymiscira and so many other DC locations. This is a game that FEELS like a big budget fighter, and even fighting the MK characters is big fun.

People are gonna quibble, but you can't argue about a game where after you win a match, you feel like you want to throw your hands in the air in a victory shout.

Great fun, go get it!

Really want this game but not enough to buy another console to play it. Saw some cool clips of the Jokers death moves which looked all kinds of sexy-violent

Same here. Only consoles I have are the PS2 and the wii. The wii is mainly for my kids, although I'll play Mario Kart & Smash Bros with them at times.......Don't think I'm going to buy a PS3 or Xbox anytime soon, so I guess I miss out on the new Mortal Kombat game.

Just a warning, they censored Joker's fatality. In the original (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BmXZvAHVCKY&NR=1) you can see the person getting shot, while the censored version (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QX-PoVM5vM8) zooms into Joker so you can't. Which seems kind of stupid to me. They do the same thing with one of Deathstroke's fatalites.

Smash Bros Brawl for all its faults is a much better fighter anyway. In many ways MK/DC reminds me of the first iteration of the EA Sports games for the PS360. I think so much work went into the next-gen engine that a lot of the polish/features from the previous version was lost in the transition. Not that Armageddon was a great game, but it had a lot of improvements that make MK/DC seem like a regression in some ways.

Slight drift, but if you get the chance check out Disaster : Day of Crisis on the wii. Loving that at the moment

This game is certainly better than it has any right to be. It isn't quite on the level of the Marvel vs. Capcom games (they really need to make another one of those) but it certainly is not a bad game. It does feel a bit weird that we don't have an over the top violent Mortal Kombat game but Midway was always pretty honest that this game would not be that and the next MK game would return to that.

I suppose the only real fear is that this game is going to be overlooked in favor of the many other games coming out around this time. It will probably do fine but there's a lot of competition out there right now.

Is Joker a playable character or just a boss? Yes that matters to me.

Playable.
So are Darkseid and Shao Khan, though they have no fatalities.

I love the game. I'm not sure I'm glad I paid 60 bucks but it's definitely a fun fighter.

My only real gripe is Wonder Woman and Superman's moves both are a little to slow. And Wondy can't throw her tiara, which really would have been a good projectile for her. Maybe they can add that in DLC.

I can understand the heroes not having them. But the villains certainly should have fatalities. Even if they aren't as gorey as your classic MK versions.

Still, if you can play as Joker it's atleast worth a rent.

I think it is only Darkseid and Shao Khan are the ones without fatalities. Everybody else has them, although they are less graphic.

Here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ToOv1yNU1h8) they all are, if anybody wants to see them all.

It's odd, showing impalements seems to be okay, but bullet wounds (excepting Jax's fatality) and decapitations are out for whatever reason.

Kinda a shame you can't customize a Dan Didio on it!

Sorry, but they're simply not going to top the old Marvel vs Capcom 2. If you ask me, DC was boneheaded not to go to Capcom. MK was okay, but Street Fighter akwats seemed like the better game to me. This whole thing seems mismatched. Again, Marvel vs Capcom 2 is still the best comic book fighting game ever. It simply used and ingreated its characters much more and much better than this attempt. And this is from someone who prefers DC.

Ah well, looks like I'll have to stick with MK:Armageddon and drink till one of the characters looks like Batman

....or maybe play the wife while SHE is in a Wonder Woman costume... that could work

Tho they should have Superboy Prime as a playable, with 'Retcon Punch!' attack.

Found some great clips online which show the whole story mode from both the DC and the MK side:

http://www.youtube.com/user/BifordusMaximus

Also found the endings, which I think show that the DC universe had a very big influence on the many of the characters of the MK universe:

http://www.youtube.com/user/MKvsDCSpoiler

Really, I have to say that the story is quite compelling and one of the reasons why I like the game. The producers simply did not want to throw DC and MK together for no apparent reason, as in Capcom vs. Marvel. I think this attention to the story works, since there are so many characters and settings within both universes that do match and work off well with one another. Indeed, it's the only way that I can enjoy the it since I don't have a PS3 or XBOX 360. However, though I understand that due to universes shifting and merging with one another powers are in flux, I was a little miffed over some of the outcomes. Still, seeing Sub-Zero have this badass exchange with Deathstroke before their fight was pretty cool.

Thought the same thing. Should've stuck with a simple "Brutality".

Anyway, the game should get here by Monday or Tuesday, and I'm quite eager to try it. Midway's hit some tough spots, and maybe this one's gonna be the one to help them out of it.

The problem with that is that they've already used just plain brutality. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YpkBd5HWLUg) Probably a stupid thing to worry about, but maybe they didn't want to call the not!Fatalities by the same name a type of actual fatality.

I know the MK games used Brutality before(been an MK fan since the original), but that's why I think it would've been simpler going with that again rather than adding going with 'Heroic Brutality'.

Yeah where's her fatality?

Oh right, they don't have one because Wonder Woman doesn't kill people.

Mortal Kombat seems to know that, don't know why DC didn't.

Just note that the letter in the parenthesis is the distance you need to be in order to pull those off. 'C' would stand for close range, while 'S' is sweeping range(two steps back). To prevent moving while you input the directional buttons, finishers can be entered while holding the block button.

Captain Marvel looks like he stepped out of an Alex Ross painting. Just great.
I wish there were some unlockable characters and I'm a little spoiled from games like Marvel Ultimate Alliance which had all the different outfits for the characters. Like you could be Thor in 3 different outfits or Beta Ray Bill because he had the same powers. It wouldn't have been too hard to make an unlockable Black Adam, Bizarro or Nightwing.

One move I really like that Superman seems to have is where he inhales and pulls you towards him. Never seen that in the comic before but it makes sense.
