I am a casual reader of Punisher, but my friends is a big fan. How do you guys feel about the current MAX writer? My friend has been boycotting the current MAX writer for a bit, since Ennis left. He's really enjoying the mainstream marvel punisher right now.

War Journal has been pretty good, bar the artist. The Jigsaw arc was quite entertaining, and even the SI tie in issues have used the opportunity to progress the plot-lines that were established beforehand very well.

Greg Hurwtiz the new writer on the MAX title and is a serious punisher fan, and apart from one daft bit ( i think we all know which bit) in the story it has other wise been a great run so far....

he noted civil war so he is talking about punisher war journal. its a good series and it does depict the real punisher, despite what MAX fans say.

i decided to give this punisher a try and i have to agree. ive met a few people that cuss this much but not as many people as on this series. seems like every character cant talk without cursing :rolleyes:

Hurwitz is doing excellent on MAX, I think. I really like his story. Fraction's PWJ blows chunks.

The Ennis MAX Punisher series is the greatest set of trades I own. Bought them all in trades, and was digging the character WAY before I starting buying regular Marvel stories.
I'll flick through the next trade in store, to see it it grabs me. Ennis is a hard act to follow. I still treat myself every now and then, on a slow weekend, to a few beers, and a read through the entire Ennis run.

Hurwitz has been doing an awesome job on MAX, I'm happy the first arc after Ennis didn't turn out to be shit.

I liked quite a bit of War Journal, I don't know what the hell they were thinking towards the end, though.

All very true Hurwitz, in the main, has done a good story, and yea i liked some of war journal vol 2 also,


its just things like:

(1)frank allowing himself to get beat to shit by captain America?!?!?

(2) frank wanting to be captain America and trying it!

(3) frank killing innocents and not owning up to it......

(4) frank wanting redemption for his punisher life......

(5)frank always sparing jigsaws life because of his dead wife ?!????!!?

(6) and the best for last, Jigsaw being in love with frank, i mean really in love with Frank........

all this is really out of character for frank to say least and i must say Jigsaw also !

and all written by a comic book writer who by his own admission does not get franks character.............

MAX was phenomenal, I'm getting the omnibus asap. Theres not a single bad issue from what I've read and the first 2 arcs and valley forge valley forge are some of my all time favourite punisher stories.

But after Ennis left I havent been picking up the MAX, I've been hearing mixed reviews about the latest issues. But I might get the trades and see for myself.

the new arc is well worth picking up its good and has hit its stride well,

its just that Ennis is a hard act to follow, as i have said before , and the new writer (Hurwitz )pacing was a bit slow at the start of the story, but the art is great , and really suits the story and now that the pace has picked up storywise the dark humour has too.....

find out what a shark flosses his teeth with in the latest issue (64)

yes i know that statment sounds mad but read the issue and find out.........

Punisher War Journal is cool esp with the arc where he gets caught by Shield...but I was talking of Punisher Max. No other names.

Not many. Most are dead. PWJ completely ruined the only proper archenemy that Castle had, and then somehow replaced him with another one... who is the same, but more retarded.

Personally the reason i dont pick up Max anymore doesnt have anything to with Ennis more with the bad things Jet Ace Logan listed in page 1 about Hurtwitz Punisher.

Hurtwitz got it too easy with the hole its hard act to follow Ennis.

I can only hope it gets better. Its sad to see it go from the best i have read for years to one of the worst i have tried reading.

Heck its so bad that i might pick up Punisher War Journal.....
