Legendary rock drummer Mitch Mitchell has died. Mitchell was the drummer for the Jimi Hendrix Experience, and his style worked well with Hendrix's experimental guitar playing. Mitch was the sole living member of the trio.

Mitchell was found dead in Oregon, on the final leg of a Hendrix tribute tour. He will be missed.

His energy on "Fire" is vicious. One of my favorite drummers. He's also one of the best.

RIP

MITCH Mitchell, the former drummer for the Jimi Hendrix Experience, died in his sleep of natural causes (http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,25197,24651217-601,00.html), an autopsy has revealed.

Well, damn. That's both of Jimi's drummers gone now.

It's interesting that, live at least, Mitchell's style came about mostly because of the inadequate PA systems of the time - there was no kind of on-stage monitor system, so he had to basically make as much of a racket as he could just so he could hear himself.

It's sad to think all of the Jimi Hendrix Experience are gone now.
