I would find just one-shot a little short of the potential of this

Its a one shot.

I will take a look at it and judge it from there.It looks like the story is mainly the Avengers and X-Men vs Red Skull.

In that case you would actually have to have the House of M around in the comic and that doesn't look like the case from the art. My guess is we will see them for the first issue or two as Wanda says 'no more powers' and that is it.

Two years ago I posted what I thought would be a good House of M What If, basically what would have happened if Magneto had not killed Pietro. We may still get that story one day, but not anytime soon.

There's a couple of obvious problems with this set-up.
The first is, as in the the real "no more mutants" world 198 (or so) mutants retained their powers. So why should we be expected to think that all superheroes would be affected when not all mutants were affected?
And second of all, if Wolverine would be stripped of his healing factor, wouldn't he die of adamantium poisoning? Yet there he is with the technologically enhanced X-men, alive and well, because of course you can't have a Marvel comic without Wolverine.

The first one I never thought of that some super heroes should keep their powers

Maybe the tech powers are the 198... *shrugs*

and I was thinking Why isn't wolverine dead?

It doesn't look like it to me. The only x-women there seems to be Emma and Kitty.

As to why Wolverine wouldn't die from Adamantitum Poisoning. Simple after Acoplyspe made Wolverine his new Horseman of Death, he gave him back a improved more advanced form of Adamantitum for his skeleton, one that wouldn't be rejected by his immune system and be constantly trying to fight it off. Hence its kind of a specialized subtitute for the original stuff, just as strong but not as negative.. call it removing the power level cap a bit. It still slows his healing factor a bit, but not as much as it did before. (supposedly)

LOL, I get that a lot...

I work in PR & publicity at Marvel. You may have seen me or heard about me at conventions (I host panels when Joe Q is unavailable). I've written a couple of back ups, wrote for the soap opera ONE LIFE TO LIVE, and am writing more stuff for Marvel now. This What If is my first full-length issue, and I have a top secret mini series coming out of Secret Invasion that I can't say anything about until issue 8 hits.

Rogue. Oh how I love her. I started reading X-Men comics just as she joined. We had some scenes with her & Gambit in them, but (like so much) it had to be cut for space We honestly had enough for a 4 issue mini! LOL Alas, 27 pgs can only hold so many characters and so much story.

Allow me to step in here. Sadly, at around the time of House Of M, Hepzibah was not on Earth, and so would probably not be affected in any way by the House Of M spell. She was busy shooting at those naughty Shi'ar birdies with her team of Starjammers instead. It could be that Cyclops chooses to call her for help, however, which would fit in with the idea that he is a tactical genius.

I am glad to see you come round to the idea that Hepzibah is utterly fantastic.

Yes, but Decimation doesn't sell nearly as well as the House of M.

Hopefully, the HoM will be on more then a page at the beginning, but I am not going to get my hopes up.

Don't let it bother you. It doesn't bother me much anymore that they are using the House of M label to sell things that may only have a page or two of the House of M in it.

Just try to rate it on the quality of the story and the art.

Until I see what is inside I can't say for certain what I think about it. I think this story would better off being a mini and like I said I already fully expect the entire House of M to dissapear from the comic after the first page or two so it will come down to the quality of the story and the art to sell the comic to me.

But, you are right that What If Decimation would have been a more apt title.
