I was at a bookstore a couple days ago and saw that the Afro Samurai manga finally got published.
Has anyone read it yet?
Is it pretty much the same story as the anime?

No one?
Nobody's read this book yet?

I flipped through it and was not impressed. I think this might be one of those rare occasions that come around where the anime interpretation of a manga is actually better than the manga itself. I say this, of course, without having actually read the book, but then again it's not as if the anime was burdened by a particulalry rich plot.
:D
I keep seeing it on the shelves, though, so I might give it a better chance... take it down, find a corner in Borders, read through a chapter. I'd be more inclined to do so if someone else recommended it, of course.

Are you guys really too lazy or busy to spend 20 minutes to read a book for free in Borders while drinking some tasty beverage from Seattle's Best? Seriously?

Busy, yeah. I'm ruthless, I flip open a manga and it has about five seconds to impress me in some way, or else it's back to the shelf.
And I hate coffee. Bleagh.
The artwork in the Afro Samurai manga is interesting, but not to my tastes for collection (though I like the style of the anime quite a bit). And from what little I read of the story (I browsed through it for a chapter or so a couple days back when last I was in Borders) it's not much better than the anime's plot... lots of killin' and dyin' and bombastic dialogue, but nothing that reached out and said "buy me!".
