i refuse to buy trinity because of the utter crapfest that was Countdown so reading these commentaries is the only way i "read" it. always enjoyed the insight, observations, and speculations but...

i'm not getting what the issue is with Hawkman. since i'm not reading the book i don't see all the details but from the images and what was said it appears that this Hawkman is the same Hawkman that Johns revisioned 8 years ago and is still writing in Justice Society. in fact that image of the Thanagarian flyer comes from JSA, issue 37 or there abouts (also written by Johns). IIRC that was the first time the original reincarnation origin and Thanagarian origin were intermingled.

anywho, thanks guys and keep it up.

You're missing a treat then, and I'd recommend checking out the first trade when it's available to see if you change your mind. I stopped reading Countdown within 4 issues, and kept up on it through these commentaries as well. It appears I made a wise decision. But please, don't let the abortion that was Countdown prevent you from a series that is just chock full of awesome!

As for Hawkman, yes, this is the same one as from JSA. But someone at DC thought it would be a good idea to undo all of that and cast doubt as to Hawkman's true history. This was done in the Hawkman special that was connected to RANN-THANAGAR: HOLY WAR, another craptastic mini-series. Coincidentally both the special and the mini were written by Starlin, who also wrote yet another waste of shelf space: DEATH OF TH NEW GODS. Starlin's rep has taken a serious beating in my eyes. I will honestly be avoiding his writing from now on.

Not a fan of the so-called 'Big Three' at all but I try to get what issues have John Stewart.
