Marvel Entertainment announced today that they're partnering up with the well known Madhouse to create some new series based off of Marvel Comics characters for the Japanese market. Similar to what was done by Gonzo with Witchblade, the series will be done in a way that fits into the Japanese anime sensibilities which means they may not retain a lot of familiar elements that the comics fans are familiar with.

Wolverine and Iron Man were the two characters talked about specifically, which isn't a surprise considering the theatrical aspects of the live action movies, but Marvel talked about there being four series in production for a 2010 Japanese airdate. The first series will launch in spring 2010, debuting on Animax, a 24-hour Japanese anime network. As is to be expected, both Marvel and Madhouse will be capitalizing on the merchandising aspect of this as well.

In December of 2007, Marvel began working more with the Japanese market as they started a new manga initiative which includes an X-Men manga and a Wolverine manga.

I desperately want to see these, I've been wanting marvel to do something like this for ages now, and now with Madhouse no less so it should be good.

As for the other two properties that are getting adapted, I don't really know. I'd love for them to do Daredevil and Iron Fist, seeing as they are my two favourite characters and would benefit the most from this type of series with the heavy amounts of Martial Arts, (and the many recurring Japanese elements already in place in Daredevil's mythos), but I have the feeling that we'll get an X-Men series, separate from the Wolverine one, and maybe a Spider-Man or Hulk series.

Daredevil or Iron Fist would be perfect.

I would like to see Shang Chi get one, but with no super ki powers or special abilities.. Maybe have him beat up people with those kinds of gimmiks with normal martial artist.

I'm looking forward to the Iron Man anime, but I'm hoping they don't really go the teen Tony route again. There's just really bad vibes amidst Iron Fans about de-aging Iron Man.

In any case, if the picture above in any indication, he'll be the fully grown adult he's supposed be when donning the armor.
